I thought The Walking Dead was bad, and then I played The Last of Us through in one night's session. The emotional devastation didn't wear off for a few days.

Okay, I grabbed a four-pack of Terraria while it was on sale. First three to PM me with their e-mails get them. Good luck!

Sorry for the late update, very busy day. Anyway, only 8 people wanted Terraria codes, and they're cheap. I'm buying extras as soon as Steam accepts the transactions, so everyone that PMed me before this edit will get one in their inbox / Steam account real soon.

I've seen a little bit of BF4 gameplay. Honestly, it looks the same as BF3, which was just "meh" for me. The last great Battlefield game (in my opinion) was 2142, but then again I'm part of the old guard that dicked around in Desert Combat for entire weekends.

posted a message on Help me find zombie survival games like Dayz where you have to eat and drink etc.
Unfortunately, DayZ is probably the best DayZ you're going to get right now, which is too bad considering the hacking scene and same-old-same-old feeling if you've already played it a lot. There's some interesting custom servers though, like Origins or Breaking Point, which I highly recommend trying out. Otherwise, the only regular servers I've played on that are even halfway decent are Hive45's Chernarus and Namalsk servers. There's actually a huge amount of new stuff to explore on the modded maps, and they added army NPCs as well, which is an interesting twist. The admins are great and the players are generally friendly, but the regular playerbase is unfortunately not that huge. Good luck finding a game that fits what you're looking for! If you still want to play DayZ even though you posted over a year ago, I could just gift you ArmA II: CO over Steam.

posted a message on Steam Help
    Quote from 23232323

Recently SteamGuard asked for me to authenticate my Steam account (saying I was using a new computer, despite the fact that I wasn't). I never got the email containing the access code. I've asked about it on SteamSupport and now I have two questions.

    1) SteamSupport needs me to show my CD key as proof of purchase. Does one come with downloading Steam, and if so where on my computer can I find it (I own a Toshiba)?

    2) If I create a new Steam account, will I still be able to play my old games? Now, I know I can't continue from my current save on any games, but will I be able to at least restart the games without having to repurchase them?

    Thanks in advance.

The CD Key is provided with the download. To find the CD key, download the game, and click on it in the library. On the right, under the "LINKS" tab, there should be something labeled "CD Key".

If you have local content already installed, Steam will recognize that you have the files, but for another account. I believe you will have to re-purchase any non-free games you have to play them on your new account.

From the tiny bit I've seen of it, it looks the same as any other fantasy MMORPG, so I'm not holding my breath. Like I said, though, I haven't seen a lot of it, so I'm open to the possibility of it distinguishing itself.

Does anyone play it? Do you have a favorite aircraft / team? Best kill? Personally, my favorites are the Me-262. and Bf-110.

For those of you that haven't heard of it, here's a video:

Discuss! It's a free download at http://warthunder.com/ if you want to try it.

posted a message on Xbox One Announced
I like the looks of a lot of the new features and exclusives; however, I am rather concerned about the direction they're taking it with the requirements for Kinect and regular internet connection. I've appreciated Microsoft's respectful distance in the past, but I worry that is changing. I dearly hope that they do not become another EA. As this is the first day of announcement, I await further details before making a full judgment, and especially look forward to E3.

If all else fails, we still have Steam. Valve is the last gaming/distribution company that I can say that I trust and admire.

posted a message on Do you use Walkthroughs/What do you think of them?
I watch them for entertainment, usually for games that I want to see but don't want to buy. It's ended up saving me a lot of money for only small losses in entertainment value.

posted a message on Battlefield 4, or Call of Duty: Ghosts?
I probably would have bought Battlefield 4, but I don't really like the direction they're going with the series. The new ones cannot even begin to compare to 1942 or even 2142 in my opinion.

I just bought GTA IV after far too many years of waiting, and I absolutely love it. I will probably buy GTA V if it goes on sale on Steam at some point.

posted a message on Garry's Mod Help!
This "Scary Gman Virus" is a poorly coded Lua file. From the sound of it, by itself, it is a ****ty screamer that doesn't even do that very well. All the magic to keep you from stopping it is a few lines of code that reset your mouse position and pop up text and play a sound when you perform certain keystrokes. Hell, I could write this and I am terrible at programming.

The only way you'd get this is ingame is if you joined a server whose owner intentionally distributed it in the client files. Even then, you can completely blocking this by setting your options to never download files from servers you join, although this is at the expense of near-always-harmless custom content that is on the majority of servers. The servers that you need to be careful of are the ones like "herp derp butsecks" with 0 players running sandbox on Construct - stick with the big names, and you'll be fine.

What you really need to be careful of is addons you grab from garrysmod.org, or the rest of the interwebs. It is very easy to conceal malware in these. Never trust an addon just because it looks cool. Before downloading, check for:

-Picture Previews: Malware downloads will almost never have them.
-Comments: If people are raging about a virus that the addon gave them in the comments below, don't get the addon.

Just those steps will screen the vast majority of what you don't want on your computer from garrysmod.org.
If you REALLY want that one cool addon but aren't sure, download it (do not extract from .zip or whatever other compression method it is using) and scan it with a good antimalware package.

Realistically, you should be very safe if you use GMod and the interwebs smartly. "Scary Gman Virus" is an old issue anyway (4+ years) and has reportedly been resolved by updates now long past. Still, it never hurts to be careful.

I don't know, I'm not a very interesting person. I suppose I don't normally tell people that I am in love with a cheerleader who also happens to share my passion for programming and geek culture, but now she attends a different school. I have a few acquaintances, but I don't think any of them would notice if I just didn't come back to school. I basically spend all of my free time coding or gaming / derping on the internet. I have a strong (some would call it strange) attachment to Lydia in Skyrim, and don't believe in God(s). My political persuasion is extremely left-leaning, and I have developed my own theory of utopian socialism that I've never actually shared with anyone. I play Dwarf Fortress, and keep extensive logs of every part, event, and character of my primary game. I have written full backstories for each of my dwarves, and have filled in and tied together the blanks and spaces in the world history gen. I've never told anyone that I have wondered what would happen if I just killed myself, although I've never even begun to give it a serious thought, either.

    I think that's about it.
