    Yes there can be smaller drones without customizability, like each tiny drone can only do 1 kind of task

    Currently, I'm making a mod that add drones into the game.


    The drones can basically do anything, you name it.

    You can control them, they can collect items for you, they can be like a companion that follows you and kill for you, YOU CAN EVEN FLY ON THE DRONE!


    Well those are what I'm having in mind and i'm working on.


    But you guys may have even better ideas or simplification for the drones. May I have some more knowledge? :D

    This is a WIP forum post about my upcoming mod - CustomDrones (a more catchy name for the mod maybe? :D)

    Here there will be progress updates, asking for suggestions and public vote on what will be the best thing.



    These drones will revolutionize the way transportation, automation, and companionship is done in Minecraft!




    First let's see some screenshots of V0.1




    Fully functional wings (which means they rotate xD), awesome flying mechanism.

    Although no texture yet.


    Here comes V0.2 images and new implementations

    Drones now have gui, custom texture, custom crafting using the very basic craft bench, and basic customizability!!!!!!!

    A textured drone - Full emerald level, try to look closer as drones seem much cooler when you look closely.


    Drone GUI

    Shows a lot of information about the drone!!! maybe even too much??

    You can install mods (but they do nothing for now) and later you will also be able to repair drones using ingots and gems,...so on, lots of items to be usable for drones


    Crafting

    Put some engines, some casings, a chip, and a core of any level in the same matrix and you will have a customized drone. Or use the creative inventory.


    Future plans (which are being implemented right now, so actually they should be called "now plans")

    Items transportation, mobs transportation, players transportation (yes, you can fly with it), automatic path making, environment scanning (ore scan, monsters scan,...) offensive behavior (shooting monsters?), auto item storage, solar powered drones, modules,....

    These drones will revolutionize the way automation is done in Minecraft!

    What you can do now with the drones?

    For now, just flying them around and hitting the cows with them xD

    Seriously, you can do that!

    There is an item that helps you control the drone. Hold the item, right click to switch between modes, and fly 'em!

    Or you can let them fly with you in creative mode, see who flies faster!


    If there are suggestions to improve the model as well as the texture and the functions of the drones, I'm eager to hear them out.

    Yes I'm adding more monsters in general, it's just that i'm not having the time right now to do it quickly :D

    Also suggestion:

    • Make thingys less expensive to craft, honestly it takes 16 gold and 16 iron to make a blue thingy, and 4 stacks of both to make a purple one. Unless you have a giant a** factory that takes a hundred chunks wide of quarrys or you waste your whole life at farming mages, some items like the super staff, the tier 3 max-mana upgrade or some alternative staves are just impossible to make. This is surprising considering that, in exchange, the staff enchanting table is worth its components and trades.

    The storm currently has 1 bug, I'm looking into it.
    About the thingy's recipe, that's as cheap as I'll go, originally you need 1 emerald for each thingy.
    Higher tier items are very expensive, I know, that's why I made it so you can choose whether to craft strong staves or enchant weak staves.
    And this mod is nowhere near the end of it's development, lots of things will be added sooner or later, there'll be other ways to acquire higher-tier thingys and items

    There are 2 main reasons for the spells being weak at first with just the basic staff
    1. It's not that hard to get the basic staff, if with just the basic staff you can easily kill every mob with a few elements then it'll be too overpowered. Besides, each spell has it's own strength and weakness, for example lightning can chain through mobs, killing multiple at the same time, but short-rage while beam is single-target but can be shot from very very far away
    2. Lots of people, I believe, will use magic to play PvP games, since players only have 20 hearts and some armor, if the spells are too strong then PvP battles won't last long enough.

    Either get better equipment or use the right spells for the right time

    Not all spells are beams, there are a lot more :D

    And self-spells have been implemented in 1.7.10

    Seem like you downloaded the file from an external site, i changed the download link for 1.7.2 after the thread was copied on to some 9minecraft site.

    You should re-download the real version for 1.7.2

    Unfortunately the 1.7.2 version still contains many bugs and that's one of them
    hey i have a report, the skill slots are all white, i cant see what skills they are, but when i fire skills, it renders them properly

    Can i have a screenshot of the skill slots being white? Also what mods are you using?

    The version 0.1.0 for MC1.7.2 doesn't have any monsters added though it has all the basic mechanics like spells and magicks, it is just a beta version, that's why. And i figured people will soon update their mods to 1.7.10 so I did the same
