posted a message on Nostalgia and the Sadness of Having Grown up with this game.

Although I usually think of the change in terrain generation ruining it for me in beta 1.8, I think what killed it for me over the years is that the game lost its mystery. When I first started playing the game, it felt like a whole new world. Even though it was a world of blocks, it felt so real and alive. But as I played it more and learned all it's secrets and all there is to know, I could see the patterns; I could see how things worked. I came to the inevitable realization that this new magical world was simply a computer simulation. The game lost its magic. It's like when you're a child and you know nothing about the world around you. You use your imagination to fill in the gaps of your knowledge. As you go to school and learn more, you start to see how the world actually works and the mystery is gone and you focus less on what mysteries lie out there.

I still play minecraft pretty regularly, but I will never again have that feeling of wonder I had when I first started playing

posted a message on What are your plans for minecraft?
I'm sticking to my current plan. It seems to keep me playing.

-Design buildings in creative mode that are huge and beautiful but are impossible to build outside of creative.

-Convince myself that it is possible even though it's not.

    -Begin building.

-Realize I've made a huge mistake but it's too late to back out.

-It takes so long to build that the map of the server resets or the server just shuts down and I lose all my progress.

-Spiral into a deep depression and swear that I'm not coming back to minecraft.

-After a few weeks, my feelings of not being satisfied for not finishing my structure creep up on me.

    -Repeat the entire process.

Edit: I actually did manage to finish one of my projects (sort of. Not enough time for the interior. Map reset) but that was only because it was a small project. This is it

posted a message on Minecraft Coming For Xbox One!
I love Minecraft but I'm not going to buy the Xbox one to get this version for several reasons. I already have the xbox 360 edition and the PC, so spending $500 just to get a newer version that is not as good as the PC version is an absolute waste of money. I also don't really support the Xbox one, but that is a different discussion.

    Wiggycat315

Just kidding. If I were you, I wouldn't make a username with the name "Miner" or "Crafter" or "Creeper". Those are the most commonly used names, so if you were to use those, it would have to be something like "Miner_12543". However, it would become difficult to communicate on servers. People usually call you by a nickname, for example, on servers, people usually call me "Wiggy". If you have "Miner" in your name, people are going to say, "Hello Miner, how are you?" and are going to get about 6 replies from people with the name "miner" in their name.

tl:dr...Do something original. I named mine after my cat Wiggy. (Wiggy was named after Lud"wig" van Beethoven). And 314 is the first digits of Pi (Which is my favorite irrational number)

posted a message on What was your favorite update?
Minecraft Beta 1.3_01. They added smooth lighting and the ability to make seeds. It also added the ability to name worlds and have more than 5. The 1.3_01 update definitely helped define what Minecraft is today.

It can make servers easier. Now I can save the server and stop it with the push of a button.

It's not availble on survival, so just listen to it on creative. The sounds are of a player running on stone and dirt while being chased by a monster. It goes silent for awhile near the end.

It's not mysterious, at least in my opinion.

It's not in the Nether. At the end, you can hear a person walking on grass blocks.
