I generally avoid the nether as much as possible. I only go there AFTER I obtain a functional Duplicator. Usually I head in there just to get some glowstone, a few netherrack, and soul sand. From then on, I break the stupid portal and use the duplicator every time I need some of those materials. Likewise for enderpearls.
But yes, low vis aura (under 10%) is good to grow crystals. The crystals in the chunk kick in overdrive, and try to get that aura up as fast as possible. Meanwhile, they're triggering their own growth. I've taken to placing the crystals I'm farming around my Condensers and Dawn Totems. Really, Dawn Totems are the way to go.

Well hopefully it will works. So far in the past 10 minutes I've seen little growth on the Taint crystal and that's it. I also have a Chunk Loading block (Teleport Tether) in place in the Nether and hopefully it keeps it all loaded while the crystals grow.Also. Chunk loading blocks seem to only work for the world you're in. Growth on the Crystal farm in the Nether stops when I leave the nether and research in the normal world stops when I go to the nether.
So. Anybody else try to make a Crystal farm in the Nether? The Thaumometer Shows me that Auras are very weak there, making (what I believe) good conditions for growing crystals?
First off I recommend using Optifine. Just the basic standard version for starters, then try Smooth to see if it helps more.
Second, if you didn't already, turn off File Indexing on your Harddrive. It helps.
Third, try and check your Java settings and possibly give it more memory usage. You can google Java tweaks for Minecraft easily. Settings depend on what Operating System you have of course :-D.
I hope some of this advice helps. If you've already tried all of those then I hope you come back and tell us all your solution :-D.

He uploaded his blank map so people could play along WITH him in the same he is playing in. That way any discoveries he makes you have the opportunity to do the same. I am sure you enjoy the game in your own way but most people get the real kick out of the challenge of doing it yourself.
On the Eu thing. Try any walkthrough/Tutorial/wiki or Direwolfs Mod Spotlight on the subject. You might notice a build difference/change that fixes your problem.

I started a new map with the famous (I think its famous) seed "monsterhunter" and under the nearby village was a small dungeon with a chest full of those Thaumcraft goodies. What shocked me was the fact that with all those Artifacts I also found 2 portal guns inside the chest. Yea....TWO PORTAL GUNS!!!
Is this a glitch? issue? Or is it intentional to find any random goodie inside one of these dungeon chests?
After I added the new Advanced Machines for IC2 and the SparrowAPI...all of my wooden doors vanished as well as the ones in the village I had as a neighbor. Its no biggie, they're cheap and quick to make....thought it was a random bug. I did a lot of walking around and investigating and so far no other issues within the past hour.
I don't know if this has been addressed or not but do the Config files update automatically when a a mod is updated? I ask because in the config list of mods Redwire has a different file name (with the old version number and not the new version number).
Its just if Direwolf took the trouble to give us a good setup of Config files....I don't wanna ruin that.
Optifine works great with the Mod collection of Direwolf20. I used the Smooth version. The Multi core one makes all the new content blink at insane speeds.
Scratch that. Some animals are completely transparent or have their textures messed up. I'll do more tests.
I've noticed a problem. When I click and Drag the mods into the MultiMC edit/mods or the .minecraft/mods folders....my Mods amount is 26 where Direwolfs is 31.
Yet I believe I have downloaded what I was told to. Any ideas? I know buildcraft has multiple parts but what else? I suggest that might be the cause of my error.

I have enjoyed a few servers but the leaders of those servers seem to be loosing interest in the game and updated are something they cannot keep up with. I see this one is already 1.6.6 :-D. If you guys can do it that quick, you must be badass and worth my time and Donations :-D. I look forward to helping this server grow if I can. Oh plus I can build AND I don't mind endless digging!!

What you look for in a Server= I know this is still beta so I don't ask for much. But what I do look for is Integrity. People walking the walk and talking the talk.
What type of player you are= Hardcore for the most part. I play well. Pay attention to detail and follow through till the very end.
Why do you think you should be added= I think I can offer a lot to a solid server. Play with cool people and get some cool things done.
