A good map in my opinion needs puzzles, cool effects with redstone and pistons, and it needs to be full. By that I mean don't put a lot of blank space between challenges, walking for miles is no fun so try and put things closer together. It needs a strong story line and at least one explosion. Try to keep it out of the nether because of the extra work it takes to make that function properly on multiplayer. That's all I got anyway...
Most of the adventure maps I've seen with cool effects with redstone and pistons lock you up in small stone rooms. That's why I usually hate things like that. Although if you do it right, it's really cool. I'm decent with redstone, and I can make that work. I agree. Things with long walks are really boring, and people tend to quit half way through. It's no fun. I forgot about multiplayer features, but that could be helpful. Thank you for that post, helped quite a bit.
I've been considering making a custom map for a long time now, and I'm thinking about making one. However, I would like to know what you guys would want in a custom map, because I've tested a few that seem to be extremely disappointing. Do you like adventure? Puzzles? A mixture of the two? It's YOUR opinion. I want to be able to please the public was still being able to do something I want to do.
Just share what you like in your custom maps. I want to hear what you have to say, and I think some people might want to hear what you have to say as well. I will try to create one when I can, and if you'd like, you can play it and give a rating, because that would help, too. I want to construct the perfect custom map.
I just played through again and no look. Still exactly the same, died, saw the end boss, and tried to restart. :/ Help, please. I really liked this map.
There seems to be an issue with this version. Despite this though, I LOVED this custom map. Did you get inspiration from a different custom map? I'd really like to play more of this. Here are some issues I found.
- When you die, it brings you to the last boss fight.
- Some information is vague. For example, what happens when you get through the Shadow Shrine? I got the item, but I didn't know what to do.

*Previous bans: I've had 1, it's a long story, and the ban was really stupid anyways.
Referral (friends already in the server): N/A
*Reason for acceptance: I've been playing this server for like a month now and finally decided to apply. I also really enjoy PvP, and wish to develop my skills.
*Say what you think the proper uses of fire and TNT are: Fire is pretty useless in PvP servers, and it's a cheap trick to get kills in PvP. You can use it for making portals or fire places. TNT is also pretty useless, you would only use it if you were to complete destroy one's house, for reasons that are beneficial to you of course. Just excessively using TNT to blow up someone's house serves no purpose, and can be considered griefing.
Additional info (some of your achievements in minecraft or just trivial knowledge): I can make a house on the surface in about 5 minutes. This obviously serves almost no purpose in PvP, because you would most likely hide your house. I'm pretty good at PvP aswell, but I wouldn't consider myself an expert. Practice makes perfect. I'm also talented with building and trapmaking.

He has a working server and wants it to work 24/7? Pretty easy, really, don't turn it off.
I feel like I don't understand the question.
Hmm. I feel like I don't understand your answer. I feel we aren't communicating to each other really well. I feel this is mostly my fault, so I will clarify:
From the little that I know, everytime he logs off of Minecraft, the server shuts down. I didn't get much of a chance to speak with him, but it appears this is what happens. I will question him further, but any other answers are appreciated.

Yeah. Of course. Although is that really essential to the question? :tongue.gif:
EDIT: Nevermind.

Ah. That's a problem. So is there any way to get around this without doing anything illegal, but without paying for server hosting?
0
Hmm. I think I gotcha. But can you have your computer off and still have the server running?
0
Hmm. Sounds easy. I'll let him know. Thanks.
