    what happened to modloader the thread is closed D;

Probably asked for it to be closed in order to stop the torrential flood of morons demanding he update for 1.0.0.

I'd hate to be a modder with a popular mod out and email notifications enabled for my thread - talk about getting mailbombed, sheesh!

Man, there's several mods I wish were up to date but I don't go around flailing my arms "UPDATE UPDATE OMG UPDAAAAAAAATE". Have some damn patience. The mod will be updated when the creator has the time to do so and when the required component (see: MCP) is also up to date.

And another complicating factor is that the 1.0.0 release was made at a convention, and chances are at least some of the MCP team are at said convention. This in turn means that there should be no reasonable expectation that they have even started working on the 1.0.0 version of MCP until, at best, today (Sunday), and even that is making a lot of assumptions about who went, who didn't, how far they traveled if they did go, and how drunk they got at Deadmau5's party after the con ended.

I don't think the Zombe's mod pack is updated yet, that may be your problem.

Yeah, it's updated for 1.0.0 - I'm running the latest zombe, Rei's minimap, and TMI in 1.0.0 through the latest MCPatcher.

Okay, that row of small buttons at top-left are wonderfully handy for grandiose construction projects. Between the new addition of the day/night buttons and the light-level/spawn overlay from zombe's mods you can make damn sure that your creations are lit up enough to prevent spawning.

If I thumbs-up this mod any harder I'll break something. Here, have a :Diamond:.

1.0! Great! Now, to wait until the MCP updates. Hopefully, they take less than two or three days to update the MCP. Honestly though, I'd say "if there's anybody you need to tell update to 1.0 now, it's the MCP team," but they probably do more at least 90% more work than the modders when it comes to Minecraft version updates.

Anyhow, I can't wait until the updates become fewer and farther between. It would give the modders more time to innovate like never before. I mean, I'd still like to see a few more non-bug fixing updates in the near future, but not say.. monthly or every two months.

To expand upon what SilverJ-17 said:

According to their website, the MCP team needs a minimum of about 24 hours - assuming no surprises and not running into anything so new/different that it breaks things in hilariously catastrophic ways - to prep a new MCP release when Minecraft gets an update. They have a ton of tools for automating much of the process of analyzing the Minecraft codebase, but a lot of stuff has to be done at least partially by hand, and some stuff is only doable by hand. All of this takes time.

And another wrinkle to consider is this; how many modders are at Minecon right now? Don't expect the folks that are busy partying in Vegas to be cranking out mod code, and if they are it'll be surprising if it compiles, let alone runs.

In short, don't whine about updates to your favorite mods before about Sunday at the very earliest. Better still, enjoy what you have and wait for the mods to come, and come they will...

posted a message on 1.9 Terrain Generator doesn't match 1.8.1
    Quote from algebraicAT333

Yeah, they added snow and mushroom biomes so they needed to make some changes. Most of it is the same however.

Ya know, I had completely forgotten about the extra biomes. Guess it'd only be a minor change close to spawn but when you're eighty miles north of spawn those little changes add up in a big way; I now have a whole continent where I used to have a thousands-of-blocks-wide ocean. :blink.gif: :biggrin.gif:

Wonder if it'll be possible to change seeds on an existing map in 1.0 final - easiest solution to my issue (keeping a semblance of continuity for the uber-long minetrack) would probably be to find a seed that puts an ocean at -125000,0.

posted a message on 1.9 Terrain Generator doesn't match 1.8.1
    Greetings!

I was prepping my 125km minecart track for the upcoming full release of Minecraft (at which point I'll build the next 125km of track!), and found that the ocean biome at the end of my track in 1.8.1 is an ice-plains biome in 1.9pre5, but was still an ocean in 1.9pre1.

Might not be a bad thing to get some additional confirmation just to be sure, but I smell a terrain-generator recode. Nothing is guaranteed to be stable until the 1.0 (and even then we're all taking our chances) I know, but if there was a change in the relevant codebase procedures it'll be a challenge to everyone that is doing ongoing gameplay from 1.8-created maps.

posted a message on Valve Cover Gasket Replacement
I work at an auto shop. Everyone at said auto shop is a gamer. Everyone has a copy of Minecraft. We have a private SMP server for the shop. If idle hands are the devil's tools, a bored mechanic is the antichrist.

When you have a bunch of mechanics playing Minecraft, things happen. Giant engines get built. Giant engine valve cover gaskets get replaced.

I have the engine exported as a SPC/WorldEdit schematic. If the interest is there I'll see if I can post it somewhere. :wink.gif:

If you wanna avoid the mob-collision issue, run your track along at two blocks above terrain height instead of directly on the ground. That should keep most of 'em off the track. :smile.gif:

The best is when you find a surface ravine that leads to a subterranian ravine that leads to an undersea ravine that leads to a huge abandoned mine. Found one of those on a 1.8PR map and it went on for MILES...

That must have been thrilling to build

Oh, it was. The terrain had to be generated before the track could be laid, which meant a lot of time with W depressed.

    Quote from JackM1911

Cause that totally wasn't done within 2 mins using WorldEdit on a Bukkit Sever...

It was built in SSP, actually. The mods used are listed in the description. This would be impossible to do in vanilla.

Cool vid but you know what would have sucked? If the Endermen had removed some of your track!!! :tongue.gif:

Oh God, no, not EnderThieves! It was bad enough having to patch Creeper holes (which is why the underlayment the track is on is obsidian). Endermen absconding with parts of the track would have made me cry.

posted a message on Minecraft Intercontinental Railway
Been lurking for the better part of a year, and now it's time to drop my first post - and I'm gonna make it one for the record books...

Behold, the Minecraft Intercontinental Railway - 125,000 blocks (125Km) of linear track.

(Note: Full credits and additional info are posted in the .)

For obvious reasons the video is timelapsed, as it takes over four hours to ride the cart from end to end at normal cart speed. As far as I am aware, this is the longest single minecart track with a verifiable length that has been videoed and shown publicly.

Wanna see how big ocean biomes actually are? The track crosses a few big ones, one of them being over 20k blocks across.

This video shows off the 1.8.1 biomes on the first landmass at a relatively slow speed (64m/s) before accelerating to mach-point-five. When 1.9 is released I'll do another 125Km of track for it, so stay tuned...
