Or you just use Sm.Ash to coat the tops of your buildings to protect them from the acid. While I don't think ash panels should form on the ceiling, I think they make perfect sense for a a Sm.Ash to place a panel when used on a block.

That... huh. That actually works. 'Kay then.

Sniggy does have a point though; even if Ghasts are big, they don't feel like it. It probably has something to do with the fact that they are everywhere (which I guess this would change, but still) and also they're usually far away enough that you don't really even realize it. A huge, hulking monster that actually challenges you would really be nice. Maybe you could make the Troll/Ogre/whatever bigger, or just give him a bigger brother or something, but yeah.

Yeah, but honestly, you're giving us a lot more choice in floors than you are with ceilings; with floors it's either NO COBBLESTONE OR STONE or build on a patch of Soul Sand. With this you're forcing us to make our roofs out of Glass, Obsidian or a Nether material.

And yeah, that's why I said 'or whatever'. I acknowledge that cobblestone or stone aren't likely going to be used ever at all in the Nether.

About Acid Rain; isn't that a little bit, I dunno, too dangerous? I mean, depending on the length of the storm that might destroy someone's entire cobblestone or whatever fortress. I can accept having to put some different blocks in different places to avoid corruption, but forcing us to put Soul Sand or Netherrack or Glass (which might I add is quite easily destroyed by Ghasts) or something on our roofs is generally a bad idea. It's easy enough to do that it doesn't provide much of a challenge anyway, but it does limit our building in the Nether. I know that building isn't the Nether's main focus, but still, some people are going to want to build huge evil looking castles in a hellish dimension WITHOUT losing all the challenge of the game by putting it on peaceful.

    Just saying.

posted a message on Realism inventory idea
Hm. I remember something like this from Mabinogi... it would work, but only for realism mode, and blocks should still work how they do now, but maybe you couldn't stack as many together. Arirish, he only said that for the WORKBENCH. Not other blocks (but yeah I disagree with that anyway). The inventory could be reformatted to be more evenly spaced, too. ...And I don't see where he said anything about the Compass. I imagine that would only take up one space, as would a lot of items such as Redstone Dust. Torches could probably be stacked but take up two spaces. ...Yeah. I think this could actually work. Expecially if you can rotate things to make them fit better.

Chalize wouldn't really work; if you know what you're getting into, I think you'd be pretty suspicious of a random Golden Apple sitting a few feet away from you. I mean, keep in mind you people are playing a game. It'd be pretty difficult to get anyone desperate enough to actually go for any of the things lying on the ground, especially if they've played before.

posted a message on Minecraft Capes (Achievements and customizable)
Sorry, dude. Notch has said that these are the kinds of achievements that he DOESN'T want to add. This is what statistics are for. Although, I DO like the idea of getting a special item for doing an achievement. ...But not an item that really gives you bonuses. Capes would work fine, as long as they don't do that. And a lot of the current achievements are pretty easy, so what kinda capes would they get? Would they get any capes at all...?

posted a message on The Aether(Anti-Nether Realm) Current Topic: New Nether
Honestly, I like the Ether idea better than the sponge thing. The idea here is to have a water-like substance that floats in streams of spheres or both or something (I prefer streams, but spheres would be cool too), if I'm correct. A bridge of sponges would be required to make a random floating stream, and that just wouldn't look good. I get that it seems a little useless to turn into an entirely new block type, but I'm sure we could expand on it; maybe you swim much faster in it, and undead creatures (skeletons, zombies, zombie pigmen) would fall through it (or maybe even be hurt by it, who knows)? Maybe it could be placed in the Nether, making it invaluable if you find yourself on fire? Maybe it could only be carried in a gold bucket? A 'holy water' type thing would have quite a few uses, you must admit. But definitely not healing, that would just be overpowered. Oh, I just thought of something else; maybe it could be USED in the Nether, but not placed? Clicking on any mob with a bucket of it could do a lot of damage of something (and unfill it of course), I dunno.

posted a message on The Last Mob Minecraft Needs: Flying Night-time Monster
Erm, this is supposed to be out at night, so I don't see why people think a hawk would be a good idea. I'd prefer something more like... I dunno, a bat, I guess. They would spawn about as often as chickens, I'd imagine, and in small groups of two or three. Attack on sight, only do about .5 (or maybe one heart, I dunno) damage but are fast. Have about... five hearts, three hearts each? And they would become neutral during the day, and actively seek lower light levels. If one is hostile, other bats would be attracted to it and probably find it and attack you as well. They will become agressive if another nearby bat becomes hostile as well. During the day they will hang on the ceilings of caves.

...yeah okay that's just my take on it, no need to pay any attention to me.

posted a message on Fix the "Mysterious" SMP Lag Problem?
Actually, I had this a while ago since the 1.3 update. At first only a few chunks around me would load, and I'd have to wait a long time around the edges of the chunks for any others to load. That was very boring. And then after a while no chunks would load. But the 1.4 update seems to have fixed it for me, so it definitely wasn't my computer. I dunno, probably something completely different, seeing as this was made after 1.4, but yeah.

Hm, maybe the telechests, rather than being activated by fire (I like that idea, too, but...), could be activated by putting different colored mushraves on the top? Different colored mushraves could connect only to chests with the same color on them, or something. The fire thing makes sense, game mechanics-wise, but I feel like mushraves make sense too somehow. Maybe I feel like they look like antenna or something, but same colored mushraves put on top of different chests connecting them just feels right to me.

Hey, just here to give my thoughts, I guess.

The Gloomdust is cool, I guess. I think I actually proposed something similar in the Nether Update thread a while ago as a use for Sapropype. The Mal Ice... hn. I guess I like the concept, but I feel like any sort of 'glass' thing would be made simply by smelting Soul Sand. I get that you're using it as some sorta ice thing, hence the Gloomwood dust in the recipe (and it's name), but... I dunno. Yeah. Not much of an argument, I know, but yeah.

posted a message on Smile! You're on Camera! V2.4: MOD!!!
Hey, I'd just like to note that there's no need to craft a stand and then craft a camera onto it, that just uses up more Item IDs than neccessary. Just do this:
    [] :chestfront: []
    [] :wood: []
    :|: :|: :|:

Where the chest is a camera, naturally. Also, you should make it so that a camera/stand can be crafted back into a camera. Just a few suggestions. But yeah, this is looking pretty swell so far!

How about no? This is horrifically ripped off of another Nether Update thread, which is a lot more thought out and supported.

    Look at my signature.

...I think I'm going to attempt to save Grey some trouble here.

    Attempt.

This is not a 'ripoff'. At all. First off, people can make suggestions about the Nether all they want. They can pretty darn HUGE suggestions about the Nether all they want. Also, Grey knows about the topic and from what I hear disapproves of it. I think. I've seen him talk about a few times, so. Anyway, this is his take on it, and I honestly prefer this one. I mean, do you really expect the... actually, I'm not parcticularly sure who contributed to the Aether most. But, uh. Do you really expect someone who helped create the Aether (which according to polls has I think more than two thousand people begging Notch to add it (myself included!)) to make some kinda ripoff? He even gave Scarecrowman or whatever credit for pretty much the only thing that could have been concievably taken from that thread. Augh. Please actually take some time and READ the first post, thank you. (Also this one is way more thought out, what are you thinking. And the only reason it's probably more supported is that this hasn't been up nearly as long.)

...sorry if I come off as rude, but things like these make me angryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
