posted a message on TEAMS CHAT: I will never need another mod.
We have teams and disabled friendly-fire as an option using Scoreboards. We have the ability to send private messages. If you add team-only chat as an option, I will officially never need another mod ever again. That's all.

Uh.. this is pretty much the exact same thing as the vegetarian challenge that Airportceo posted less than a week ago, but without all the cool additional PETA and Vegan mode rules.. but with no wheat.

I was not combing through here a week ago. That said, do you have a link for it?

The rules of this challenge are simple. You cannot eat:
    -Pork
    -Beef
    -Chicken
    -Zombie Meat
    -Bread

That's all there is to it, really. I've found it to be terribly interesting as a challenge thus far, as it makes it impossible to simply go marauding across the plains or snack on zombies all night. Relying on fishing, mushroom farming or even pumpkin pies brings back a lot of the "survival" feel that's been missing for me. Give it a try if you're in the mood for a challenge!

Dousing torches, requiring them to be re-lit, would be fine.

Given the way Minecraft works, why not make a whole town? There's plenty of types of buildings to label - libraries, schools, hospitals. You could scatter some vehicles in, like buses, cars, etc.

I would enjoy it, personally. I have the most fun when there's a sense of danger involved... a few DF accents like hunger would be a nice touch for me.

I wouldn't be surprised if the cost of taming goes up in some way. Leather crafted/dungeon found collar, maybe?

What a pointless idea. I mean, who would want a fast inventory converse, allowing multiple things to be taken into the inventory at a time?

You wouldn't HAVE to use it, if it were added to the game. It would be just an option.

    He's being sarcastic, pal.

    This needs to go in.

I'd be all for it. At worst, it'd be another save rewrite, and the conversion they did for this last one proves they can pull it off rather seamlessly. This might even allow for wackiness like inverse stairs, upside-down slabs and upgraded glass.

Some of these are great ideas. Inverted and corner stairs, top-half/upside-down slabs, and reliable ice creation are all must-haves, imo. Glow-sand and waves of fire in the Nether also sounds spectacular. Some of the minutiae I think we can live without.

Certainly more intuitive than the mushroom clock. Well done!

How long is night - 15 minutes? If so, then a seven-part chain clock could track a day/night cycle.

posted a message on Signs + redstone = neon signs?
With Notch's hard-on for magic/fantasy, it'd make more sense to have a "magic" sign with text that glows in the dark, when powered, similar to spiders' eyes. It could be made of/require iron or gold for rarity's sake.

Scrolls, by reading its description on its home page, sounds just like magic the gathering. Which I think its weird. Because if, as they say, they wanted to play a game like scrolls, why not just play magic the gathering?

They said people might be disappointed and not like the game. And they were right.

I think it's more a matter of competition. Going up against MTG on its own merits is the paramount of foolishness, because the people who play it are so far gone that they're not getting out until they quit TCG's altogether. And that's not even counting MTG Online.

However... they also mention wanting to use heavy elements from the "traditional board game genre" with "tactical elements", i.e. Warhammer and other turn-based strategy games. THAT is another story entirely. No videogame analogue to these games exists, not because it's a bad idea, but because the companies producing the miniatures and whatnot refuse to digitize their product, because it would wreck them entirely. It's a miniatures painting hobby with a game attached, and if they can provide the game without their few, few customers shelling out $500, it'd kill them. That's why DoW was an RTS, instead of a TBS translation of the board game.

So let's see what happens. It's looking a little generic right now, maybe, but I'm fascinated by the prospect of an honest-to-god TBS being made for the first time in a long time. The cards are a perk, and I've seen card systems work as a side mechanic in other games very well.
