This may or may not get ignored by many and perhaps been discussed many times. I've been away from the MC scene fro quite some time and just peeking at it again and found the more popular large modpacks are really getting left behind. Now I am aware of the FTB vs Tekkit feuds that come up but no matter what everyones individual opinions are and why for that matter, I have always been a huge fan of Tekkit Lite and everything it has to offer. But as mentioned, its now getting a bit old and there does not seem much out there as a complete pack that seems to have the same effect on me.
I am aware of many mods that are no longer supported/updated but I also am aware of similar mods that have been released to somewhat replace some mods. I have attempted to make what I would call a kinda of 'Tekkit Ultimate' but my skills of modding as obviously very little for when I thought I was close, turns out I fail miserably. I was basically trying to create a similar version of tekkit lite with more up to date but similar mods that replaced outdated ones as well as add the galacticraft mod. Now it may not be even possible hence my failures but at least I gave it a go. Has anyone tried this and/or been somewhat successful?
Currently now in an Open Alpha stage. Date of full release yet to be classified but server is up and running. Check out the website for news and updates. The server features very popular plugins which involve the following:
- Towny - Mcmmo (rpg plugin) - Firework Drop Parties - MoneyDrop from mobs - A dynamic economy - Citizens - Ultimate Arena - Magic Spells - GolfCraft
And much, much more. Feel free to have a look around and leave any feedback or suggestions.
The thread didn't specify 'Vanilla Minecraft' and I was simply giving a solution to a problem.
I do believe that dingo has a point though. Your talking about modding the game where there is many mods out there that do exactly what U are saying anyway without even having to change your spawn point
I've had a server setup with no issues in the past but I've now started a new one on a different PC and seem to have issues for others cant log in but no problems locally. I believe I have port forwarded accordingly and the port says it's open using PFchecker. I'm using MCmyAdmin to run my server. if someone can attempt to log in for me (max 8 in this world) would be appreciated and if not working, help would be appreciated. Such topics I'm sure have been done to death but I don't understand due to I did have it working once.
My ip to connect is now no longer required. Problem solved. :smile.gif:
I'm not quite finding the same thing really for one set of plains had nothing but cows and chickens, but yes wolves was in a forest of pine. but On the hunt for sheep, I found a large quantity of nothing but sheep in another plains biome with no cows at all. Also in another forest once again, a hell of a lot of cows.
I know you don't understand a thing about making videogames, but pre-releases are a great way to get feedback to make final versions better. That's the reason they exist, and this isn't something new. Pre-releases come from a long time ago, it's just now they're public, so now not only Mojang's staff plays them, they noticed with all that "leak" on 1.8 pre-release that it really works to make game better, because that way they can add some stuff and people will check it, see if they like it or not, see if it's bugged, then, that version's "final" release will work better.
Since it's not mandatory to download pre-releases, a lot of people will prefer to wait for 1.9 to be released, and, thanks to all this pre-releases, they will get a really improved version.
You have one thing right in that is that I am not a game developer, but on that note, I have been been beta testing games for many years now of many sorts. And in my experience as a beta tester, there has been no such thing as a pre-release in the manner of this game. Content does get added and bugs get fixed over time. I can though understand having a pre-release of a final product or right before the next official update, but only to make sure of it's stability and find what bugs need to be ironed out.
I'm not saying its not a good idea, I'm just saying that beta testers 'jobs' are to notify the developers of the bugs to be fixed hence the reason its a beta. So people will complain of most updates and funny enough, there has been many complaints of EVERY update that has been released. So why is it a problem now to release another official update knowing that there will be bugs like every other update and just deal with it like normal?
Well , notch could have some official testers , some people , around 20 - 100 that will test the game ( that is the way i think he did before 1.8 and that pre-release idea he had ).
But having 3.5 Million testers is a bad idea.
Okay , something about the forum : Everyone here complains , EVERYONE , when i say everyone , I MEAN EVERYONE , no exeption.
I complain , you complain , he complains , they complain , everyone complains here.
Now , imagine you are notch , and there is 3.5 million people saying you suck , how would you feel , everyone is saying minecraft is buggy , and it suck sbecause of the pre-releases.
Notch shouldnt do that.
He should give pre-release to his friends and Mojang , and some other close friends , and probablY some trusted members of this community.
But no , even the biggest troll in earth has acces to the pre-release , this pre-release idea he had will make something very bad happen , i feel it , this will destroy minecraft , the forums , and notch.
That's exactly my point. But perhaps my complaint is more towards aswell that if each PR is more buggier than the last as so many mention, it should've been that the original release could be PR then solve all the bugs in it then release 1.9. Then after that add the extra bits n peices to then call them 1.9_1 PR and so on. Why have 4 prereleases before allowing one for the proper release? I think the focus of quality has gone a little astray by packing in too much content in one go. Don't get me wrong, we all love new stuff, but we all also like a bug free game and regular(ish) updates.
So the very anticipated 1.9 has yet another pre-release, 4th to be precise but isn't that going a bit far? Personally the way I see it, we are beta testers for the upcoming release of the full version. So on that note, we are here to let known the issues and bugs of the game as well as our general impressions. So what purpose is it that 1.9 has been on hold with only pre-releases? A beta within a beta? What is the point? I'd rather see it just get released when they have it somewhat up and ready and then do the appropriate bug fixes as per normal. I understand nobody likes too many bugs, but that's the life of a beta tester.
