    So, let's get this straight.

1: He has the physical copy of Minecraft, as in the one you buy in a box that you can hold with real world hands right?

2: He used a trial of xbox live gold (I am assuming it was the 30 day one that came with the console) that has now run out

3: By "Live is a problem because of internet connection" I assume you mean either A:it is a problem because you network reliability is very low resulting in frequent failures to connect to xbox live or much more likely B:it is a problem because he normally keeps the console in his room where there is no hardwired internet connection meaning he simply brought the console to the living room for the gold trial but you would rather not let him dominate the living room with gaming for hours on end?

4: What specifically does it say when he attempts to play? A picture would be greatly appreciated

5: Did he by chance download any DLC other than title updates (title updates are required to be downloaded before the game will allow you to play it while connected to xbox live regardless of whether or not you are utilizing the online features. These are presented as prompts while the game is initialy launching from the dashboard with the warning 'declining this update will sign you out of xbox live') including skin packs, texture packs or mashup packs? The easiest way to ascertain this would be to go to the dashboard (the screen that appears immediately after start up [unless you have "auto play" enabled in the settings, in which case you would press the xbox button on the controller and press Y and acknowledge that you are going to the dash board and sacrificing any unsaved progress {don't worry about it, you never really lose anything}]) and going to the settings menu which is located at the far right side, as in go until it will no longer allow you to go to the right anymore. From the settings page select system, then storage, and then whatever storage device your son uses. From there you will need to select the "games & apps" section and scroll all the way down to Minecraft (the titles are arranged in alphabetical order). This will take you to a list of all of the data the system has saved for this game. Next to the picture for each item there will be the name of the item and directly underneath it in smaller print it will say the type of content it is. What you will want to look for is anything that says "Downloaded Items" and delete these. Don't worry, even if it is an item you paid for you will be able to download it again at any time without paying for it again. If you find and delete any files marked downloaded items turn off the console once you are done and restart it. See if this resolves your problem. Also, in the storage list you will see a small file marked "Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition" and for it's type it is marked "Xbox Live Arcade Game" this is nothing to worry about. This is simply the systems way of rationalizing running the game, that was designed and released as a download only game, from a physical disc. This is not DLC or the game downloaded from the xbox live store.

6: If the above suggestion does not fix the problem, before we send you off to call xbox live support, let's try the single most common procedure they are likely to recommend on the phone, clearing the system cache. Here is a link to instructions on clearing the cache http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/system/clear-system-cache

As many of you long time 360 crafters will remember, many moons ago, there was an xbox 360 facebook app. This app was also linked to minecraft and allowed you to share screen shots directly from the pause menu to your facebook page (I'm sure all of you have seen the option on the pause maneu ["*Y button* share to facebook"]). Well, either the powers that be at microsoft or the evil reptilian shape shifters that run facebook saw fit to pull the facebook app from the xbox live marketplace entirely. You could view it installed on your hardrive but you had no way of accessing it. Sadly, this took away the only real way to share high quality screen shots from your xbox 360 without capture hardware. This really rustled my jimmies. So today I was working on my castle and went to save my game. After saving I happened to glance at the options in the lower left hand corner. And there it was, the facebook option, staring at me, mocking me, reminding me that the days of sharing minecraft screenshots were over. So I decided "what the heck, might as well try it one more time" and................it worked. it uploaded, quickly and without incident. I was too excited to check if the facebook app was back in the store or if I could access it but none of that mattered, it worked! So, I can now share my current build with the world. It is a work in progress and I will admit that I am about as artistic as the kid that couldn't draw circles in school but here is my castle.

posted a message on Doctor who skin packs

So, I own an xbox 360 and an xbox one and minecraft on both. I play more on the 360 because as there are far more of them out there it is only logical that I have more friends on the 360 than the one.

Riddle me this: If I buy the doctor who skin packs on 360 will I get them for free on xbox one? Before some genius directs me to 'the big faq' I have already read it and it says they offer only applies to skin packs released before minecraft xbox one edition was released but that the offer "may be extended" to future skin packs.

posted a message on Is there any way to take screenshots on 360 without additional equipment?

Back in the day, you could use the facebook app on the xbox 360 to take and save screen shots (well, you could 'save' them by posting them to facebook) is there anyway to do it now without a capture device?

Read a little closer, I checked the cloud after downloading TU24 and the save was gone, not even present but reseeded like the hardrive save.
