Vxilum posted a message on Mo' Creatures addon that would make spawning more realistic
Mo creatures is a great mod, but as it is the spawn locations for animals is unrealistic. Most notably in the fact that Elephants spawn in plains and forests instead of, yknow, savannahs. Someone should make an addon to fix this.

And that, kids, is why you don't anger people with more power than you. They'll go on a blind rampage to preserve whatever shreds of their dignity and honor they still have, usually at the expense of other people.

Of course, all you're doing is proving that you are too much of a coward to face what other people say about you, you're just hurting yourself.

You can kiss that post goodbye, Weather. It's going in AliStarr's shredder.

    10. Open the json file in a text editor and the line that contains the id (eg: "id": "1.6.2") change it to the same name as the directory (eg: "id": "1.6.2.mods")
    11. Save and close the json file.
    12. Start up the Minecraft launcher
    13. Create a new profile
    14. Select the version that you just created (eg: 1.6.2.mods)

    Marglyph's TooManyItems

Create & customize items, including those not available even in creative mode. Save and load entire inventories. Switch game modes and control time, weather, and more.

Download TMI for Minecraft 1.8 (Forge mod) (2/14 bugfix update)

Download TMI for Minecraft 1.8 (jar mod)

Installing: Put the Forge version of TMI into your Forge mods folder. The non-Forge version may be used with a custom launcher or by installing as a jar mod.

    TMI for 1.8 new features:
    • The new 1.8 items
    • Enhanced enchantment, potion, and firework panels
    • All-new custom items: colored leather, player heads, signs with text, filled flower pots, preselected note blocks
    • New fuzzy search! You don't have to type all the letters (e.g. rcmp for redstone comparator)
    • Press enter in the search box to spawn the top item! Get items quicker than ever
    • Everything now fits in a sidebar; no more overlap with potion effects etc.
    • Easier My Items (favorites) editing with helpful tooltips
    • Rename save states
    • Unlimited stacks is now a global setting, along with keep items on death, prevent rain and more
    • Unlimited stacks refresh without ModLoader/Forge as long as you've opened the inventory
    • Switch to spectator mode
    • Improved multiplayer custom item spawning (still only if within chat length limit)
    • Fixed some bugs, possibly added new ones
    • Removed Herobrine spawner
Copyright: All of TooManyItems except for the small portion excerpted from the original Minecraft game is copyright 2011-2013 Marglyph. TooManyItems is free for personal use only. Do not redistribute TooManyItems, including in mod packs. Making YouTube videos using TMI is good though!

    Documentation for old (pre-1.8) TMI
Better documentation for 1.8+ will be up shortly.

Turn On/Off: Press the "o" key while in the inventory screen. You can change this key by editing the configuration file.

Add items: Left-click on items in the right sidebar to add full stacks, or right-click to add one at a time.

Configuration file: Find the directory in which your minecraft saves folder and options.txt are, and once you have used TMI at least once you will also find TooManyItems.txt there. This contains options that you can change, not all of which are documented yet.

Spawners: In some previous versions, to create different kinds of spawners, edit the "spawner" line in the configuration file. Use at your own risk; in some (older) versions of Minecraft, spawners of non-mob entities such as boats can crash the game and wreck your save.

Unlimited stacks/tools (single-player only): Shift-left-click on items in the right sidebar to add unlimited stacks OR unlimited-use tools or flint and steel. ModLoader is required for "true" unlimited stacks. Without ModLoader the quantity of >64 stacks will refresh when you open your inventory.

Tabs: Use the chest, star, and book icons to change between the item, favorites, and enchant tabs.

Favorites: This allows you to save commonly used items. ADD to the favorites panel by: (1) clicking an item on the favorites panel, (2) alt-clicking an item in the items panel, or (3) clicking the Favorite button in the enchant panel. REMOVE an item from the favorites panel by alt-clicking it.

Enchanting: (in SP, or may work on some Bukkit servers) Click an item on the enchanting panel to switch to that type of item. Use the + and - buttons to change the levels of individual enchantments. Click the Create button to make the enchanted item once, or the Favorite button to add it to the favorites panel.

Trash (single-player only): Drop an item stack on the item sidebar or the trash icon to delete it. Click the trash icon to turn "delete mode" on and off (in "delete mode" you will delete any item you click on -- useful for selectively deleting a lot of items). Shift-click thee trash icon to wipe out your inventory.

Game mode: Click the "S", "C", and "A" icons on the toolbar for survival, creative, and adventure mode, respectively.

Time: Click the sun and moon icons to set the time to sunrise, noon, sunset, or midnight.

Difficulty: Click the creeper icon to toggle the difficulty without having to go into game preferences.

Health/hunger: Click the heart icon to set health and hunger to max.

Save states (single-player only): Several slots are available for you to save your entire inventory and restore it later. (The "x" button next to a saved state will remove it.) This can be used to save your "real" inventory before editing, save a blank inventory to clear out everything you're holding, save a full inventory of materials, share inventories between characters, etc.

Multiplayer: You need to be a server op. Also, every non-vanilla server works a little differently. The command issued to the server to give you items is configured in TooManyItems.txt as "give-command". In this command, you should put {0} for the player's username, {1} for the item ID, {2} for the quantity, and {3} for the damage value. If {3} isn't in the command, items with damage values other than 0 won't show up.

    Vanilla server command: /give {0} {1} {2} {3}

    * Since the vanilla server used to not support item damage with the give command, TMI may still have /give {0} {1} {2} by default. You can now add {3} to the end. The default will be updated in a future TMI version.

    Bukkit with the Essentials mod command: /item {1}:{3} {2}

Fast crafting: Right-click on the output square when crafting to craft the maximum possible amount. (Works while the inventory overlay is disabled).

    Troubleshooting

Crashes show an error report on a purple and white screen, and you can copy and paste the report into a post. With the latest version of TMI, most errors that would have crashed should instead show a chat message that says a report has been saved to a file in your minecraft folder, and you can copy and paste from that file into a post.

Black screens are caused primarily by: not deleting META-INF from your minecraft.jar, mod conflicts, wrong versions of mods, and improperly installing mods. Please check these things and, if necessary, start fresh from a new minecraft.jar as an old installation problem may still be causing errors.

"TMI doesn't show up": Press the "o" key in your inventory screen to turn TMI on and off. (Unless you have already changed this in your config file.) Your preference about whether TMI should be displayed is separate in single- and multi-player. If this still doesn't work, you probably did not install TMI correctly.

Notes: TMI's code does not run until you open your inventory. Problems creating games are something else. TMI does not change any crafting recipes. You are not forced to use fast crafting: just left click like normal instead of right clicking. Yes, TMI does work in multiplayer, but read the instructions. No, it is not a server mod. Finally, the number of pages of items depends on your Minecraft window size, so, you are not missing items because it doesn't have the same pages as in the screenshot.

Uninstalling: If you manually installed a mod, the only way to uninstall is to either restore your backup copy of minecraft.jar (you did make a backup, right?) or delete minecraft.jar and run the game launcher so it downloads a new minecraft.jar. If you used a mod manager, refer to its instructions.

    Cubeaism – A Minecraft Religion
While day dreaming at work I created a fictional “religion” for the minecraft world. Play testing turned out to be fun in terms of role-play so I thought I would share. The religion of minecraft – Cubeaism – has three gods each representing different aspects of the world.

Terrae, is the female god of nature and is represented via trees, grass, mushrooms, lakes and rain. Also her eye is the sun, and it is said the day is actually her keeping an “eye” on the world. While she does, her creations prosper and grow.

Roki, is the male god of the deep and is represented via stone, minerals, lava and bedrock. His eye is the moon, and the night is the time he watches the world. While he does, it is a sign to take shelter or mine in the depths of the world.

Net, is the younger sibling of the two and is represented by mobs both evil and good. As he matured he created the various mobs of the world. But having created the evil mobs, Terrae and Roki banished him to the Nether as punishment.

The three working together created the minecraft world. Read the full creation story here:
In the time before there were 3 siblings; Roki, Terrae, and Net. They were bored with all that they had in their own dimension so pooling together their powers they decided to create a world to entertain them. Roki acted first, cutting off his finger and using it to build the bedrock core of the world. Then cutting off the rest of his arm he layered the world in smoothstone. Gathering his remaining energy, he struck the world as hard as he could with his right arm. The force of the blow created massive amounts of pressure causing diamonds, gold, iron and coal to form at different layers of the world. The resulting earthquakes created great chasms and cave openings leading deep into the earth.

Terrae, looking upon Roki's work said "It's a good start, buts it’s hard and cold. This world needs beauty and softness as well." And with that she reached down and picked up chunks of smoothstone and ate them. Chewing and melding them with her delicate tongue she turned the stone to dirt and spat it back up covering the world. Then she ran her hand over it and layered the dirt with grass short and tall. With great care she pushed 4 of her fingers into the earth. Removing each of them one by one; from the holes the first oak, birch, pine and spruce trees were born. She then cut her arm, and bled out onto the world creating the oceans.

Net, the youngest of the three was impressed with what the other siblings had done. But he had not yet fully realised his powers and became sad. He shed a tear and it fell onto the world the brothers had created, from the tear a tiny retarded chicken was born. Net was overwhelmed with joy at his creation, even though it had zero survival instincts and would aimlessly wander off cliffs as often as anything else, he still loved it. Over the years as Net further realised his power he created pigs, sheeps, cows, wolves and squids. The other brothers were proud of him and having watched him developing decided to teach him how to focus his power. With this, Net was able to create the first human.

The humans of the world prospered, and adored their creators. Terrae and Roki took shifts to watch the world, Terrae's eye was bright like fire and caused all her creations to prosper as she watched them. Roki's eye was white and cold, signalling the time for the humans to rest. Many ages past as the world prospered, Roki and Terrae were finally content and continued to watch over it. Net however, became bored and restless again. Using his power he created the first slime for his amusement. While mostly harmless, the slime had the power to hurt the other beings of the world. When Roki and Terrae looked upon it they were upset, and banished it to only live in the very depths of the world, away from the humans.

This infuriated Net and he demanded the brothers allow his creation room on the surface. The two refused, and having seen the brothers make sacrifices to enhance their powers he did the same. He cut off his ear, and used it to create the first zombie. Terrae and Roki were unable to banish this creature and it quickly began to decimate the humans that the pair loved so much. Seeing the progress of this monster made him want to create more, he pulled a bone from his arm to create skeletons and a 8 of his toes to create the spiders. Terrae, seeing Net's growing insanity cut out an eye and used it to curse his monsters with fire whenever she looked upon them. Roki and Terrae then turned to Net furious with him and pooled their powers together to banish him to a world of suffering and pain; The Nether. In his last defiant act before his banishment, Net tore his heart out and created the mighty creeper. This creature will stalk the land, immune to the powers of Terrae's eye, and would be a great calamity on the world

The humans of the world wiped out, their structures now overrun with creatures and slowly growing moss. Terrea and Roki turned to one another, and using all the energy they had left, they summoned one final human. Spent, the 2 gods are now only able to take turns passing there eye across the world, keeping close watch on their last creation. Steve
    How to play Cubeasim!
Simply pick your favorite god from one of the three posts below. Follow the guide to work your priest through the various levels of that path. I found it fun to make separate worlds and have that world devoted to a particular god. I would be in essence a priest of that god and follow the rules and rites of passage that apply to that faith. At differing levels of each path there are different challenges and build requirements.

When you have finished a path in full come here and post pictures! I would love to see them :)

There is another "game" based on restrictions to enhance game-play created by Iamchris27 that centre's itself around building a city through a number of stages. Worth checking out. Link here.

Other Gods / Figures / Lesser Gods
Penna: A peaceful path concerned with building in the sky. Fairly easy and is a different approach to most traditional building methods.

Glueco: Glueco loves cake. Build cakes for him. Cakes as far as the eye can see. A light hearted and more humorous take on the Paths. Very easy (except for level 4 haha)!.

Poise: A Cthulu inspired lesser god. Extremely difficult path. Still a WIP. Horror inspired ocean building path. If you can't handle it stick with Glueco...

Notch: A mysterious figure little is known about. He is rumoured to be the creator of the 3 known gods and to have a beard that is the very definition of manhood. It is said appropriate prayers to Notch will allow the player to remove all evil from the world via quoted: “peaceful mode”. Any ancient texts found in relation to this omniscient and omnipotent figure should be submitted to me immediately.

ArchebuS: A devout priest of Roki who went beyond his duties as one of the faithful. This figure was chosen by the 3 gods to act as the metatron or “voice”. The gods imparted their knowledge’s and wisdom onto him and he spreads the word to new potential priests. He is said to appear as a humanoid/crow creature in a black suit.

HerobrinE: Appears in almost human form but with hollow empty eyes. Even followers of Roki are afraid of this being. Nothing is known of his habits, goals or his purpose. It is unknown whether he is the creation of one of the three gods... or a product of something even more sinister.

Delete everything in the /blockstates/ and /models/ folders of your pack. The model format changed since that snapshot, so everything is going to look wonky if you use it.

Also, as a reminder, delete everything that you didn't create from scratch before uploading your pack anywhere. Hopefully you knew this, but if you didn't there it is.

ThePurgedd posted a message on The Last Battalion - PvP Clan

The goal of this clan, as you've probably heard many times before from other clans, is to provide a fun atmosphere and experience for our members. This is much is true, but we always try to form a bond with our clanmates, making them feel like they're with friends, not colleagues. We hope you make friendships with the fellow members of this clan.

    -no current servers-

    1. Always follow orders. If someone of higher rank tells you to do something, or maybe tells you to not do something, do it... or don't do it, depending on the situation.

    2. Do not destroy anything within the clan's base unless told. This also includes killing animals, harvesting crops without replanting, and killing other members of the clan... Unless you're doing so as a minor prank of sorts.

    3. Always obey the rules of the server. Things such as combat logging, hacking, and griefing are not only rules of the server, but are frowned upon by the clan. We do not condone any form of cheating or hacking.

    4. No multi-clanning. You may not be in more than one PvP clan at once, no matter what server the other clan plays on.

5.Be respectful to other clan members. That doesn't mean you can't joke around, but once it stops being fun for both parties, it's time to stop. If you are teasing or picking on someone, or being a general nuisance to them, and they ask you to stop, you must stop or you may suffer suspension.

    6. Do what YOU think is right, and do not do what is obviously wrong. A great attribute is the ability to make rules for yourself. Even if something isn't included in the list of rules, you should always be able to judge wether something is right or wrong.

    Commander:
The Commander proposes and approves many decisions. Acts of war, major changes to the base, and other important matters must be brought to the Commander for approval.

    Major:
There are two majors in the clan. Majors function as captains of their squads. They are the second in command of the clan, and may at times make decisions for the clan if the Commander is absent. If the the majors cannot agree on a decision, the issue will be brought to the captains as a vote.

    Captain:
A Captain leads a squad. Squads are what split the members of the clan to provide a diverse and defined experience for each player as well as offer a way to separate and differentiate orders. A captain has the ability to promote anyone in their squad, as well as demote them. Promoting privates to Corporal does need the approval of the commander, but promoting a sergeant to a captain does. If a sergeant is promoted to captain, he will have to come up with a name for the new squad, which must be the name of a Mythical creature... Dragon, Phoenix, etc. New recruits have the potential to be added to the new squad, and most likely will be, since the squad will be lacking members.

    Sergeant:
A Sergeant is second-in-command in a squad. If the captain is absent, the sergeant is in charge. The sergeant has authority over all the Privates and Corporal(s) in their squad, as well as all other clan members of lower rank.

    Corporal:
A Corporal is a private who has shown dedication, activity, and has helped the clan in some way. Corporals have authority over Privates and Recruits.

    Private:
Privates make up the majority of the clan. Privates are given orders by their captain, or otherwise their sergeant, and must obey those orders or suffer suspension or ban. Privates have no authority over anyone.

    Recruit:
Recruits are people who have just applied to the clan and have been accepted. Upon being sorted into a squad by the commander or one of the Majors, the recruit will be promoted to Private.

    Honorary Members:
Honorary members are friends of the clan, and are welcome to participate in clan activities when they feel like it, but are never in danger of being kicked for inactivity. Honorary members have the same powers as recruits. Meaning they cannot participate in meetings, they do not have any say in major clan decisions, and they cannot give orders to anyone. Honorary members cannot be ordered to perform tasks, but they can be ordered to stop doing something if they're being disruptive.

The contents of this section explain how and why someone is given each rank.

    Recruit:
You are set to this rank when you first join the clan.

    Private:
You will be automatically promoted to Private when you are assigned to a squad. The commander and majors will make the decision in this matter. Until you have been sorted into a squad you will be under unassigned members. In some cases recruits will be promoted to Private before they are sorted into a squad if the recruit's progress is going faster than the decision of which squad they will be in.

    Corporal:
The captain of your squad will promote you to Corporal when he/she feels you are ready. Your captain has final say on your promotion and if he declines your request to be promoted his decision is final.

    Sergeant:
The captain of your squad will promote you when he feels you have earned the position. The promotion will be approved by the commander. Do not ask for this promotion or any promotion above this one.

    Captain:
The commander will promote a sergeant to this position when the need for a new squad arises.

Why you wish to join this clan: I've been bored of Minecraft lately and want to have some organization when I play. I also want to meet friendly new people : )
How much and what kind of experience have you had playing Minecraft?: I have been a player since 1.4-ish. I have always loved PvP over creative and love to have organization : D
What kind of experience do you have in PvP?: I have had much experience with it(I am not the best) but I can definetley help in a battle. I always set up small clans with friends : D I am good with potions and prefer gathering and clearing land for clans and making things(including redstone traps :D ) but I am fine with PvP. I am more on the defensive side.
Will you be active in the clan (online almost every day): I will be on A LOT because of my lack of things to do(no life) and because of boredom : P

Why is this a good application? The applicant is honest about his skills and doesn't pretend to be some kind of elite warlord. He made the application very clear and used great spelling and grammar.

    Example of a bad application:

Ecxtra if i dont have a sword i will kill with a shovle

Why is this a bad application? The application was a cluster of bold-faced and not bold-faced words. The applicant used terrible spelling and grammar and gloated about himself.

Under Linux, for this version of Minecraft (12w38a), sound is not working at all. There is no sound. If I switch to a prior version, the sound works fine. I added this to the bug report. Anyone else experiencing this?

Not a bug, Mojang is just subtly telling you to stop being a Hipster and use an officially supported operating system
