Dec 8, 2010Gonna post here so I can remember to keep checking on this thread. I'm not brave enough to try 0.1, but when some bugs are ironed out and more spawning options are added, I have a feeling this is going to be the handiest mod ever.Posted in: Mods Discussion
Even handier than the grappling hook!
Dec 8, 2010On my main world, I have a small castle with a fenced courtyard as my general base of operations, and other than a nearby set of stairs, everything is covered in stone. This is because I can't stop killing EVERY SINGLE ANIMAL that shows up in front of my home or out back near my warehouses.Posted in: Alpha - Survival Single Player
I just can't. Even though I play on peaceful and I most definitely do not need that pig's innards, I'll still waste time chasing it down just to get rid of it and spawn another one at a later date.
Also, when I mine out an area, the mine has to be at least somewhat symmetrical. If I dig off in some random direction to follow a big coal vein, I immediately fill the entire vein in with cobblestone to make the cave look like it was before.
Dec 8, 2010You're going to have to do some serious digging to get down to lava level. It starts spawning around ten blocks above the very lowest level (I'm not sure on the specific number) which usually requires some work to get down to. To check how low you are, hold F3 and look at the second number; The higher it is, the higher above the abyss you are.Posted in: Alpha - Survival Single Player
Iron starts out in the sixties, which is the middle of height in terms of abyss to build limit.
Natural caverns can be as barren or as ore-laden as any other mine, but open caverns means you can see more blocks, which means you're more apt to find ore.
So in a way, I suppose they do.

I pretend that I'm a mining scout, gathering resources and deeming the land inhabitable for my kingdom. Silly yes, but it makes things interesting when your all by yourself in the mines. I also like to quote Bear Grylls when I'm mining. "The most IMPORTANT thing is making sure you don't run into any nasty creepers! Those buggers will make you lose everything, and you have to start from scratch to survive. Also, keep a small farm so you have a constant source of food, and when you have to mine, NEVER mine the block that your standing on! Make steps out of the rock whenever you can, for a quick getaway when your situation turns for the worst. I'm Bear Grylls, signing off."
Is there an LP based on Man vs. Wild in Minecraft yet?
There should be.
Really, any LP that balls together all known survival shows into one hilariously failed wreck would be amazing.
slightly more on-topic
When I'm tired of building, I go exploring. Cave systems that I didn't dig out myself are the coolest things to find, especially when they end up full of gigantic lava lakes.
I think that was about half of the lava that I found in that one cavern. (obviously, i dug around a little)
Exploring. It's fun.
Dec 7, 2010If you look at the creeper's texture file, the mouth does actually touch the bottom of the head.Posted in: Alpha - Survival Single Player
"will you post a demonstration please" no, i am lazy and you can just open the texture file to glance at it if you really want
Dec 7, 2010I played with sound off for my first few days, then decided to turn them on just to see what it was like.Posted in: Alpha - Survival Single Player
Several hours of jumping ensued, just because CAVES MAKE A BUNCH OF WEIRD VIOLIN NOISES.
I wasn't aware creepers are fond of stringed instruments and the occasional wooshing noise from a bassoon.

How about expanding the game in all imaginable ways, instead of picking at things stereotypically aligned with female enjoyment? I would hope other (intelligent) women with creative minds would be drawn to a game that is good on its own merits, not because it panders itself towards them in an awkward fashion.
I love this game as it is. I couldn't care less if you painted the sky with rainbows and threw in sparkle**** ponies who ride bikes made of friendship into adventure.
Dec 6, 2010I play on Peaceful pretty constantly, at least on my main file.Posted in: Alpha - Survival Single Player
I have a secondary file solely for the purpose of playing with monsters running around. I have more fun on the first file.
i am not masochistic

Although that works for finding minerals, in this particular situation I'm just looking to explore out of sheer boredom. I've never used branch mining to find caves to explore in.
Neither do I. It only seems that I start finding lots of caverns when I'm around bedrock level and start mining with copious amounts of TNT. also, when i'm not actually trying to find caverns
They're usually full of lava, though.

A tribute to your many deaths.
As for the actual construction, I love the boat. The treehouse I'm not quite as hot on, as I usually see the tree carved out on the inside to make the whole thing.
that, or i'm jealous because i set my ****ing treehouse on fire by accident
