I certainly hope you aren't planning to let this mod die. i had great fun with it before in previous versions and hope to do so again. this is not so much an 'UPDATE!' request as it is just a question. do you plan to make a 1.4.6 version or will you wait until 1.5 and the modding api are released? either way i'll be patient until then.

Oh, congratulations on your graduation by the way!

I really just don't find this mod interesting anymore. I've been thinking about how to make it more fun for me to develop and I'm really coming up with a blank. Nothing I could do with this mod sounds fun. I'm not waiting on an API that is has been promised for 1-2 years and honestly forge suits my needs pretty well.

Really the main problem is that every idea I can think of is already done in a much more popular mod and people would throw a fit like they did for NEI if I implemented them, I don't see the point to it since the same thing can be done with other mods, or it would be too resource intensive to do it properly. I mean seriously how many mods are there for Ore processing? How useful would something like a real life metalworking system with crucibles, slag, etc., etc.? And really if I wanted to make some kind of 'drone' to do tasks for the player it would be too resource intensive for me to do it the way I want.

I really do appreciate that there is a small amount of people that enjoy this mod, but I really just don't know where to go with this mod that would make me want to develop it. I'm sorry. I really am.

P.S.: Does anybody know, is there one block array per chunk or what?

Each chunk does have its own byte array. Which at this point it is a sort of Frankenstein's monster deal. When they doubled the height it really wasn't for anything but building. The world doesn't generate easily into this new area.

On topic though. Do you just want a mod that makes the entire world underground or something? If so there are mods out there.

    Your joking right?

In other news though MineCraft 1.4.2 is out and that means I need to update this again. I have not been working on this mod much in the past few weeks due to playing MineCraft. I'm finding that my plans for making the world itself better by forming it to my will isn't going too well in the manner I have planned for it. So I have decided to take a break from all that stone and make something else. I'm currently working on an arachnophobia update that is still early in development. I'm hoping that it will be a lot of fun and it will add much to the game play. I don't think I will do any pets with the arachnids any time soon, as I'm not too sure on how I want them to be done. Although just taking the wolf's AI/Pet system could be a temp placeholder. I'm not too sure.

Anyway let me know what you guys think about an arachnophobia update. That or a vermin themed update. Unless if I get a lot of negative feedback I will do something with both, but until then expect both in the future.

Ok it looks like the new download 1.23.5 requires Forge 303 NOT Forge 251 like it still says on the OP.

Now that the cooking of cobble works and the stone recipe for levers work I went on to try using one of these levers on a stone door, and that doesn't work. Levers and stone buttons work fine for iron doors and wooden doors but have no effect on the stone door.

The mushroom stew recipe for stone bowls is seriously messed up. Red and brown mushrooms with a stone bowl gives you nothing. red and brown mushrooms without a stone bowl gives you 4 bowls of mushroom stew, giving you four free stone bowls when you eat the stew.

I'll check things out. I thought I was using build #251 in my MCP I'll double check though.
Ok Stone doors, I'm working on that one. Not really sure why its not working though. Must have missed something.
And of course I forgot a few things when I made the mushroom stew recipe. Mainly to put that it needed a bowl.

    GRATS :D

Ok quick question stone brick? Are thay in the sprites blue is working on? Realy would love to build with a more elagent block so my home stands out from my mine more. realy want to get busy on making my giant dwarven city. :D also is the turning coal to diamond saposed to be crafted with 8 like a chest or with 9 like a block? And Finaly Thx for all your hard work i realy love this mod ^-^.

    Keep on Mining :3

I'll see about adding them, sholdn't be too hard. Oh sorry about that I forgot to update the recipe. It takes 8 coal to make a block(like a chest), 8 coal bocks to make it compressed, and 9 compressed coal blocks to make a super compressed. And I forgot to include a recipe for reverting the blocks into the previous.

Forge stuff seems to be laking in documentation in general and new modder frendly stuff is almost non-existant. Thank goodness I already know how to program or I would never get anywhere.

Thanks for the link I'll check it out :)

BTY: my mod seems to be a lite version of this, this is much cooler, good thing I didn't find this earlier or I never would have started modding :)

I'll have to check your mod out. I like seeing other peoples take on the underground aspect of things.

Hey I'm a decently skilled modder and I would love to make this mod with you.

Oh wait you suck at coding you say. Ok I'll just make this mod by myself with minimal (if any) help from you.
Oh wait you want someone that already has a mod? I'm still working on it since I enjoy it so I can't devote all my time to this unless if you want me to abandon my other mod and spend all my free time working on this idea of yours.
Oh wait you are willing to do sprites for me but you suck at it? Its no problem I have some friends that can help me since they actually know what they are doing.
Oh wait everything has to go through you? That i fine by me you can just tell me how to do my job as well.
Oh wait you just reminded me why I stopped looking in this sub-Forum a while ago. I'll be on my way and I'll let you attempt to suck less. Enjoy yourself and tell me when this mod comes out.

    Stay Dwarfy my friends.

Aww jeez the chest took me a while to update to 1.3.2. I'm not sure if I'm that bad or if it just wasn't documented as well.

I'm not even sure what I did to finally get it working. I looked at Iron chest's source on github it helped me understand enough of what to do to get it done, but not really enough to explain it.

Just wanted to drop a fairly nasty bug on you.

The recipe for the Stone version of Sticks is broken in SMP. Iron works, but the basic fundamental recipe that the entire mod seems to revolve around is broken. It would be nice if you can work on fixing that one.

On a lighter note, I think adding Stone Beds wouldn't be a bad idea. After all, if you plan on living underground without having to rely on wood at all, then Beds are a must. Also, spawning Giant Mushrooms in the underground mushroom biome would be cool.

Like I said it is SMP-ish. I never planned on making my mod SMP(I don't want to still) but it seemed like it was easy to do at the time so I did it. I haven't looked into the SMP version to be honest(I really haven't looked at SSP as well though) really I want to get a lot of the World Generation Worked on before I put time into the SMP version. I don't want to make Server Owners have to generate a new world every time I update.

Beds are something I'm working on right now actually. I'm working on adding in a stone and iron version(I'm amazed that nobody suggested iron beds with a mattress honestly) The Iron bed would basically be a retexture of the wooden bed nothing special, but the stone bed would give you a debuff(I'm hoping to figure out this sometime soon) cause It just seems very uncomfortable.
I'm sorry I haven't posted an update lately, I just graduated yesterday and I'll be working on DwarvenCraft for the next few hours hopefully.

Some info about what I'm working on besides bug-fixes...well after. Spoiler warning though for those that want to be surprised next version.

Also 1.24 (maybe 1.25) should have an awesome little feature that I spent some time on. It is Procedurally Generated Ores. The idea is that no two worlds will have the same ores I'm randomly creating the names, Sprites, and properties. Right now I have a Random Ore Name Generator. RONG for short. It works, but its not very polished at this point. Some of the names are very un-ore like. I'm working on it though. Also The Textures that it will use are randomly generated and will always be different. Thus the need for 12 billion sprites, which is really just a few sprite sheets that I'm pulling from. For those that are interested I'll talk about it by request on this topic, or in a PM chat.

Eventually though the goal is to make Ores that are completely unique from any other ore in any other world. I eventually want each ore to have its own metal/gem so that it has its own tool/armor set. and maybe a few other properties as well. Not sure yet though. It will probably be a small mod that I put up like how I did with Mini-Me and eventually merge it with DwarvenCraft.

Speaking of Mini-Me I haven't touched it in the last few days for no reason other than laziness. I'm probably going to have to get the PlayerAPI guy to make a few more hooks into the PlayerAPI. It is something I'm going for though. When it is done though it will be a separate download. I'm not sure if I'm going to make it integrate with DwarvenCraft though. It might just turn into a small mini-mod on its own.

EDIT: Last note I'm going to put some more screenshots of the features in the media post. Hopefully this will lead to more information to you guys. I kinda forget that you all do not know the mod that well and there isn't much on documentation. I'm thinking a bunch of info about the Recipes is needed greatly due to some things not being in and some things are.

MULTI-EDIT:Ok I've updated to 1.23.5 Only fixes nothing new. Tell me if you catch anything else that I missed.

If you love your mod and put your time in it, then you have all the genius you need to make others love it too. Making mistakes is only human, all that counts is that you do what it takes to find those mistakes (like listening to others) and fix them. I played this mod when it was in 1.2.5 and waited for the update to 1.3.2, so that makes me a fan. You have the same genius of any other writer and artist that makes people enjoy what you have to offer. Keep it up. If you don't keep putting your love into it then it won't be out there for other people to appreciate also. I will particularly be waiting for you to figure out how to give us back a dwarven size like the others posting here. Courage and good luck!

Wow. I'm not really sure what to say to this motivation speech. The only comment I have is that I'm working on Mini-Me every now and then. A bit more now though since I'm seeing more and more people want it back.

I like how easy you have made it to update the mod. Just delete the folder in the jar and drag in the new one.

Yea I'm happy about that as well, I didn't like editing the base files so I just bypasswed them so to speak.
    Quote from mitchmac

I did notice that the transitions between different kinds of stone are no longer these unrealistically flat layers. Is that what you are talking about?

Nah that was something I did a while ago I keep forgetting to take pictures of it though to show people.
    Quote from mitchmac

I assume that stone bowls will eventually have a purpose because they don't right now. Also there seems to be a defunct mudstone cobble which have to decide either to use or remove.

Ok at this point I'm gonna stop working on the mod for a bit an actually play it today. Stone bowls are to replace regular bowls for mushroom soup. As for the mudstone cobble I thought that there wasn't one, Its pretty much just the starting tool material(like wood) I didn't think that it would be used for much.

Are you perhaps coding forgotten beasts?

I'm not really working on Monsters right now. I want to get the world a bit more habitable before I put in new challenges.,

Man, this mod is awesome. I love Dwarf Fortress and Minecraft. Having them combined is just...I don't even know. Downloading for sure C:

Thanks. I don't believe that this mod combines DF with Minecraft though. DF is just to complex. You can on the other hand see many inspirations from it. Either way though enjoy.

    Stay Dwarfy my friends.

Mining dolomite and limestone is dropping the stone itself and not the cobblestone. That's a bug right because if it drops the stone then there is no way to get the cobblestone which is what you need in the recipes for the tools and stuff.

Well that one is embarrassing. No excuse for that bug. I'll upload a fix in a bit. I really need to find time to play my own mod. T_T

EDIT: Alright I patched it. I over looked it when I was updating. Thank you for catching that. Really I have no excuse for not catching it though. I suck at modding.

Ok so I got a lot of work done since my last post and I've got a good RNG working decently. There will be improvements made throughout the course of its life, but I think 4 days of working on it is good for the outcome. I'm surprised no one has guessed what I'm procedurally(randomly) generating.

Really it depends on how good I want it to be/how random it is going to be. Right now I'm working on the Random Name Generator. I don't want it to pull from a large database of names at all so I'm working on different methods.

I might be done by the end of the month with everything though. If I can get it working properly and to my liking then I'll be able to use these elements to expand on things.
