I just want to play Minecraft with a good community. No plugins, nothing. Be able to play without clutter and confusion, along with playing the game as it is meant to be played.
I have recently made a server with (currently) TWO arenas to be played on. I need people to test these arenas out and post any problems, suggestions, bugs, etc that they find.
We will soon add an Economy, Paintball, more arenas, and more!
Some screenshots of the arenas that are currently live:
Alpha was just Minecraft in my view. It was simple, and it had no goal. Sure, the additions in beta were nice, but it took away from the minecraft feel. I remember just digging in a mountain and finding huge cave systems.
Now, if you find any "system" it's a ravine or mineshafts... no HUGE never-ending systems that you can get lost in haha. Oh the days when you would dig out of your mine, actually use the compass, and navigate home.
I know, Minecraft needs a tutorial. The achievements don't help much in teaching new players where to begin.
But that's a different story.
Say you're mining in a cave, and find REDSTONE! Well, you might not ever heard of this redstone. You might think that it's used for new pickaxes! But to no avail, you can't seem to find any recipe for it.
Well look now further than, the in-game dictionary!
Using a mapped out button (such as "E" or "H", etc), you can hover over any item, hit the button and a menu pops up!
This menu will show you the basic description on the item, the requirements, uses and.. RECIPES!
So, now you can find an item, hover over it and hit a button, which brings up a display showing basic uses and related objects.
I think it would be helpful to those who have no idea what use the cocoa beans do for them, etc.
Well, you are incorrect about having only beneficial potions
You use fermented spider eye and netherwarts to make Potions of Posion, Potions of Harming, Potions of Weakness and Potions of Slowness. All of which can be brewed with gunpowder to make splash potions, that you can throw to effect enemies and mobs.
I like the idea of poison arrows though. Much longer range than slash potions.
EDIT
Along with poison arrows, i think the following arrows should also be implemented:
-Exploding Arrows (Harder to make, less explosion radius than tnt)
-Fire Arrows (Ignite enemies, light wooden things on fire)
-Arrows of Harming (Do increased damage, non-projectile damage so it can do more harm on a person with projectile protection
-Iron Arrows, Gold Arrows, Diamond Arrows, each do more damage
-They should also be enchantable.
Thanks for the comment! I haven't experimented much on brewing, haven't read up on it much. Sorry! I forgot to add the gold arrow and diamond arrow thing! Thanks for reminding me! :smile.gif: It would be cool to enchant arrows, too.
With brewing, all we can really make at the moment are beneficial potions (Billith pointed out that you CAN make disfunctional potions! thanks!). Some friends and I had the idea of enhancing this further with poisons to use in combat. If you take, for instance, fermented spider eye and swamp water (new item, only in swamps) and brewed them down, you could make a poison. Poisons could be varying in effect and strength.
I would suggest, if poisons come to be, to get them from items obtained by spiders, cave spiders, silverfish or in places like dungeons and swamps or the nether. New plants like nettles and poisonous berries could be farmed/harvested for brewing such items.
Now, these aren't like poisons that degrade your character's enhancements or abilities. These are poisons used to make traps, arrowheads, weapons and more!
I think new recipes should be made to make arrows. Instead of putting an iron ingot on top of a stick to make arrows, why not use that ingot to make arrowheads? 1 Ingot on a grid would make.. 16 arrowheads (or whatever it is now! sorry!). Also, you can use diamond and gold to make more type of arrows. Enchantments could be made specifically for these arrowheads (or crafted into TNT arrows, fire arrows, etc, like Billith suggested).
You can take these arrowheads to make poisoned arrowheads, then creating poisoned arrows! These will increase arrow damage and deal DOT, but do no critical strike damage (possibly?). If arrows are pre-made, just put the arrows down and a potion over it to poison those. A block of wool would be used to remove the arrows!
Poison could also be used for items like..
- Spears
- Swords
- Traps (Spikes? trigger it by stepping on something and you fall into a pit of deadly spikes! Good to keep griefers away or mob traps!)
- more!
If you take a look at the interview between Notch and Yogscast, there is plenty of sexual jokes and cursing. Notch has seen their vids and knows they curse. And in my opinion, they just don't come off as ego centric assholes. Their entire panel was about thanking the minecraft community and giving out props to everyone other than themselves. I don't believe they seriously told a kid they would cross out Notch's signature and write "**** off". If they did, why did Notch even know about this? Was Notch just conveniently hovering nearby when it happened? I can't wait to see their official response. Well anyway, I lose nothing from this scenario so bring on the drama!
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU HAVE A COMMUNITY FULL OF ****WITS AND 12 YEAR OLDS. Stop sucking up to notch and face the facts, notch knew that they swear on thier channel and probably should have expected them to swear in the panel.
it is very unprofessional by notch. i lost respect for him many months ago when he kept dodging promises and just taking time off. SO **** YOU NOTCH I DONT EVEN WATCH YOGCAST AND I HAVENT PLAYED MINECRAFT FOR 8 MONTHS, BUT I STILL KNOW YOUR BEING AN IDIOT AND A ****WIT ABOUT THIS.
How about YOU be professional and not biased? They went to a public meeting and had a panel PAID by Notch, others had to PAY. He INVITED them into Minecon. They should've known that people of all ages would come, if they were going to curse they could've had a fore-warning.

You don't have to press the button. That's why it doesn't automatically come up.
