I think it'd be neat if monsters would occasionaly spawn with passive abilities, such as a zombie that rapidly spawns weak zombies, an enderman which debuffs you or a skeleton with a really long range. Players however would probably barricade themselves in dirt as soon as the night falls, thus avoiding these monster hordes. I'd like to see a way to make the monsters a bit less avoidable, but I can't find a good solution to this, sorry.

What about a mob combat tag? When they get hit by a mob, they cannot use any commands or put any blocks down. If they go out of their house, they are forced to fight the mob or die.

Besides this, any other opinions on the idea?

I would also suggest giving a nerf to armor, like making a custom armor system. I have developed something similar to this to a private survival server. Basically what happens is certain armors give you certain buffs and de-buffs.

    For example -

Diamond armor gives you more defense but limits the amount of items you can carry so a carrying capacity.

Iron armor would give you some defense and wouldn't limit any thing you can carry.

Gold armor would lower your defense but give you more mining speed

Leather armor would increase your speed but give you little to no defense.

    And so on.

I love the idea of this server, but increasing the spawn rate and firing rate of monsters wont make it harder, you have to add in aspects of real life.

carrying capacity, disease, monster raids, stuff like that. If you were to implement some of this stuff, I would rate it the best server in all existence of Minecraft.

I would also like it if potions were nerfed in a way so that I couldn't just carry around 100 splash potions of healing so that I could kill anything, I would suggest maybe limiting the amount of potions you have or something like that.

Those are great points, but the thing is, it detracts from vanilla a little bit more than I'd like it to. I am probably going to go for a carrying capacity of items and of potions, but I'm on the fence for diseases and monster raids. I feel as if making the mobs hit harder and die harder would definitely make the game more tough.

Hi, I am planning on making a semi-vanilla server (inb4 not another one of these threads,) and would very much like for everyone to tell me his or her opinion.

This server would either be a invite-only (white listed) server, or not (still deciding on that, would like input on that as well.) It would stick very close to the roots of Minecraft in terms of how the game is played, but it would be more difficult in the sense that monsters would spawn more and be more difficult to kill, villagers' trading would be limited and nerfed, no economy or shop that would allow for the access of all items, and definitely no anti-raid/pvp protection plugins.

I would like for all players to go out and survive without much interference from plugins. I feel as if if the survival experience is easy, then the game has no play value. What's the point of having everything protected; you get all the items you want, get more items, get more items, and then what? You quit. Move onto the next one and rinse and repeat.

Before posting this thread, I looked around the forum a bit and realized that people were juxtaposing survival and mobs in a negative way; most notably that mobs are easy and that they do not pose a great threat. My friend said that all he needs to kill a wither is iron armor, some food, some potions, and some milk. That is why I stated earlier that mobs' spawn rate and difficulty would be buffed up.

Another feature I see on a lot of servers, but poorly executed, is the economy. It is incredibly difficult to implement a stable economy because, as we often forget, this is a game and that it is nothing like real life. Those servers all just make it so that people can rake up money by some mean and then allow them to buy any item in the server. Eventually someone gets super rich and then can basically do whatever he or she wants and eventually gets bored because of that freedom. What I plan on doing is making play time equal to currency (afk time not included). If they play a lot, they can buy items or features (I haven't thought about it yet.)

Lastly I want to talk about "donations". My plan for donations is simple: donate if you want to donate. No ranks, no special features, nothing. Regular players can do ANYTHING. /nick, sure. Color codes in chat, sure.

With this kind of freedom comes great challenges and great kinds of fun, but this also brings greed and corruption between the players. If you base with a player, watch out for him/her. Not everyone is to be trusted. I feel as if this aspect is true survival. You don't know what to expect, because people are complex beings. You can never expect anything in life, it just hits you. It's all about moving on and learning from that experience. This is true survival.

If you guys have any suggestions, improvements, or any other thoughts on my idea, please let me know by replying. If you disagree with anything, I am very open to criticism.

I'm actually not sure, first time hearing about procedural generation, but by a quick Wiki search I see that it's mainly used in game development but can be used outside of that.

Sorry for not being of more help to you.

Looking for one person to teach Java to. I won't charge you a dime, completely free. I can do up to 10 hours a week up until June 8. You must be devoted and (sorry to say this) at least 14 years old. You must not rush the process, and this will only be for Java; you will have to learn Forge, Bukkit, or any other API by yourself on your time.

PM me or reply to this thread if you are interested. I will request to close this thread when I find the right person.

P.S: This is a personal thing. I do not gain anything but the pleasure of teaching someone a skill that can maybe determine his or her future.

    Thank you.

posted a message on Developers, read this.
Hi my name is Ali. I am 18 years old and a senior in HS. I currently have a GPA of 4.0 and my math SAT score is of a 680 (90th percentile). I've just recently finished up my college applications, but I am currently working at McDonalds four days a week (it will go down in two weeks). So for the next two weeks I'd only be able to work 3 days of the week (if hired). I started coding in Java about a year and a half ago, and I started using the Bukkit API about 7-9 months ago. I know how to hook into Vault, use Spigot's Bungeecord API, and create NPC's using the Citizens API. I do not, however, know anything even remotely related with databases (MySQL), which is kind of a bummer since most major servers use it for better management compared to general flat file (YML), but I am willing to learn.

I currently only have one public plugin on dev.bukkit: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/cashcontrol/

I also have multiple private plugins: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/qu4k867yyc0ithk/AADHTr7WeMe2F8NuJ_h7ex1_a?dl=0

Lastly, I have my best and most complex plugin that I am currently developing. I am planning on putting up for sale for $10 on Spigot's premium plugin section. If you add me on Skype, I can show you the plugin.

My Skype is nuggetandbiscuit. I am looking forward to talking and (if hired) working with you.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity.

posted a message on Website and server ip?
Hi I'm going to be using Enjin for my server website, and I want to get a domain so that I don't have to use Enjin subdomain. I found one on GoDaddy, and my question is: can I use this domain for both the website and the ip? Or can I do something like this:

    Website: blabla.com

    IP: mc.blabla.com

Or would I have to register two domains? Thanks in advance.

I've noticed that all permissions are working but warps aren't. I put in the essentials.warps.* but still nothing. I've switched to group manager by the way.

Did you also add essentials.warp.* without the s?

    Quote from LegitTopHat»
I am attempting to summon witches with hidden custom names. I have tried using data tags -> /summon Witch ~ ~ ~ {NoAI:1,CustomName:"WitchBossClone",CustomNameVisible:0}, I have also tried turning off name tag visibility for a team then joining the witches to that team, but that doesn't seem to work either. I am not sure what my error is, thanks for the support in advance.

If you're using Bukkit, I can code you a command that can accomplish this.

It's much better than Dreamweaver, mainly because you can edit webpages and see them updated in real time. It's great for editing HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, because it's written in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Do you mean live view? Because Dreamweaver also has that.

    posted a message on Laptop
Hi, I'm planning to buy a laptop for college (I'm a senior), and I need some assistance figuring out what to buy. I would use this laptop primarily for work, programming, and maybe some HD video editing. So I don't really need that powerful of a graphics card, but I do need a very powerful processor and a lot of RAM. Screen size does not matter to me. If anyone can refer me to a laptop of my standards, I'd be very grateful! Also my budget goes up to $1200.

    Thank you very much.

What? No no no no no no, not Dreamweaver. Brackets is by far better, and it's free, and it's open-source.

Oh wow, this looks amazing. Thanks for correcting me on that.

I'm assuming you want the same size as your main monitor. If so, you probably can't find one for $100. But you can find them on Amazon for $150-$180.

If this is too high for you, you may want to check out 20 inch monitors rather than 24. 20 inch monitors go about $90 - $100.
