Cobblestone looks kind of out of place except when you are trying to build a castle, but its so easy to get that people build tons of structures with it, and then you see a giant monotone cobble city.

    Its kind of depressing.

Here is a 4x5x2 positive edge triggered T flip-flop if anyone is interested. It works with any standard clock 4 or higher, but I have not tested it at different orientations. C is the input and Q is the output. (this is smaller than the one in the OP)

well to add something constructive: Doorkn00b is correct. If you want a mod position, generally its a good idea to look around for a good server. play on several until you find one you like, then get to know the regulars, and eventually you might land the position. Another solution of course would be to make your own server or to start one with some friends.

its probably in debugging mode. I'm some amount of effort will be put into properly balancing wolves with other game elements. They are supposed to be rare anyway.

posted a message on "red stuff" logic gates
Ahruman is right. It is a very important property for making compact logic gates and circuits, most of which would not function without it. Notice how on the left design the wire forms a plus shape. This means it can transmit power to any adjacent block instead of just one direction opposite from the torch, and the wire will not automatically turn into the block. You also can have 4 protected outputs from that one torch, so you don't have to worry about what you are plugging into messing up your outputs going in the other directions, since they are all independent. A final point, is that the left design has a height of 2, and the middle design has a height of 3. For a 2 high device, this will almost always be used with a side torch with no wire on top of the input block, or you would get a pulsar.

I made your flip-flop a little smaller and used the same labels. I have only tested it in game with the top of the diagram facing north, and it worked, but it should function at any orientation. The best way to use the output and input is to put a block underneath Q and on top of T.

    (update)
now its only 5X5X2, but the second picture is needed to see one of the level 2 torches on the right. In testing I discovered it will operate with a 4 clock while facing north, but requires at least a 6 clock while facing west.

I just checked and it is possible to flip the edge detector so that the input and output are on opposite sides.

Since the mineral it drops looks like redstone, we should call it yellowstone. Elegance by simplicity. (and intuitiveness)

These torches have a shadow underneath them when the map loads. Picking them up and replacing them fixes the bug until you load the level again. This bug did not exist before 1.2

I jump in, and lo and behold, the game autosaves upon my death.

The game doesn't actually autosave when you die. Your inventory and position are persistently saved, so if you ever jump in lava or fall down the void will all of your stuff it is gone forever. The world is only saved when you press escape, or change windows, not upon death. By pressing alt-f4, or opening the inventory screen, you can prevent the world from saving, and easily unlava your mine.

I'm sure most minecrafters will accidently dump a bucket down their mineshaft or fall in lava, losing their entire stock of iron blocks. I've done both. I try to not get too attached to any of my saves so that when something like this happens, or a big update comes out, I wont feel bad about starting over.

I made a proof of concept semi automatic cannon with 5 rounds. Its really big and doesn't shoot very far, but its fun to fire anyway. Each shot is launched by 3 TNT, and you have to wait for the shot to fire before pulling the trigger again. The timers are all short, but I was not trying to optimize this cannon.

    a couple of screenshots:

Here is the world file if anyone wants to try it out. You need to wait a minute after the level loads for the redstone to work properly.
