This sounds obnoxiously annoying to research, but I had a bit of a lightbulb go off in my head . . .

Couldn't you set up an array of 5x5 plots, each with a single mushroom in the middle. Say . . . 50 of them. Then observe them. When half of them have a second mushroom, the duration of time passed should be about average. I'm sure its not that exact, but clearly you guys know the math better than I do . . . does this sound like a viable testing method?

That would calculate the median time, not the average. You would need to record every mushroom time to get the mean. Still, the median is usually close to the mean, so it's still a useful figure.

EDIT: Oh, and if you're doing a 48-plot sample, could you also record the 25% and 75% milestones? You could do a box-and-whisker plot with those numbers.

That looks exactly like a mod I saw once and it sounds like you updated your game, removing the mod. Ergo, find the mod again to get it back.

Does this work in the Nether, and if so, could the lack of hostile mob spawning there be used to great effect?

He doesn't read the forums because, honestly, in his position, neither would I. People around here have atrocious grammar and the suggestions are usually too ambitious, too game-breaking, or too stupid.

    1. Sand sounds good. Burnable materials like wood and wool can also be used then burned out.

    2. Try glowstone and jack-o-lanterns. In the city, remember that mobs spawn on ground, so only the flat surfaces will be an issue.

    3. Nether portal would be cool, if you could get it to work, but a tunnel along the sea floor from the beach sounds cool.

posted a message on Worst update
    Quote from SittenSpynne

According to these forums, I've figured it out.

The worst update is always the current update. If we're on version B, it's the worst and A was the best. The moment C releases, B becomes the best, A was one of the worst ever, but C is the worst. When D releases, C was the best update ever since it was better than B and D ruined it all. Any new features are the worst new features. Unreleased features are the best new features until they are released, at which point they become the worst because the old features are way better.

    Amen.

    Well, it kinda is.

Doing nothing but typing, thinking, and being confused, and taking complaints about how bad a coder you are.

I'm coding in C# as a hobby, and I type, think, confuse myself, and then get over it all the time. Haven't been complained about yet, tho.

Like everything, too much of it is bad. Memes aren't bad by their nature, they're just overused more than other things like chocolate or drugs that people recognize the overuse of which can be harmful.

Goodness, that was a horribly written sentence. >_<
