Emme turned to face the man, jogging up to catch up to him. Her eyes met with his eyes though that may not be the case for him because of her helmet. Nihere mentioned the name of the witch which had her reply very differently as she made her steps a bit heavier the second she heard the name.
"What about her? I'm assuming you saw her having some 'fun' in the river back there?" Emme asked, if something was going to happen here, it was going to be rather violent, in probably a bad way. "Now if that was the only thing you wanted to talk about, then I suppose I'll give the quick answer-" Emme said, she cleared her throat and continued. "-The woman was very annoying, I gave her the chance to back off and she didn't. In times like that, I suggest you follow what I say if you don't want to end up wet in a river bed." Emme stated, she very annoyed now, she didn't expect such a spark to uproar between the two, but she supposed it can't be help.
Emme responded as if it weren't a big problem, and that all the blame was on Astra. Nihere's anger shot up, but he didn't let himself do anything rash. He didn't want to do what he was trying to prevent. He took a breath and kept walking the same pace as before, recalling the conversation with Astra over the fire. Astra knew she was pushing too hard but kept going anyways, but not to annoy Emme, but to try and make friends.
"I understand she was annoying. She understands it as well. But she didn't mean to come off that way- she was just trying to be friendly. Even still, you didn't have any right to push her off the cliff like that. We're going down to the conglomerate to work together- if we can't do that, we won't get anything done. I'm not asking you to be good friends with her or anything," Nihere turned to face Emme as he said this, to give more emphasis. "But give her basic respect, okay?"
"Witches don't deserve my respect. Not like you would know why, and nor am I willing to share my past experiences." Said the gold tinted knight, her eyes leaped away from contact as she turned her head towards the direction they were walking in. She let out a sigh and shifted her hands to her belt, she ran her fingers down the rim of the belt and spoke.
"Fine, if it'll mean in the success of this mission, I'll hold my personal endeavours until it is over, does that sound fine princess?" Asked Emme, and her manor and tone she was using almost made it feel like she was trying to provoke the man, which might not end up good for her in terms of range, but she was almost hoping for a quick little fist fight to erupt right in the middle of the sidewalk here.
Nihere almost burst at Emme, until she said she would hold back until the mission was over. He ignored the sarcastic remark that came after. "Thank you, That's all i really asked for. And I don't really care about your past, because it doesn't apply here. Whatever happened to you happened in the past. The Wrinkle is different. Witches may have been an incarnation of evil wherever you come from, but around here they're people- like you and me."
Nihere shrugged his bow on his shoulder out of discomfort. He was seriously considering using it to make his point. He'd never been this riled up before, and he kept forcing himself to breathe to calm himself. He hoped that this would be the end of the conversation, because he didn't think he could argue much more without letting it escalate.
Emme continued her walk, letting out a quick chuckle as she heard him say the last bit of his sentence, she just added to it. "Witches and I will never be alike." Emme said as she continued her journey with the magic archer towards the lift. Multiple thoughts raced back into her mind, thoughts of witches, archers, and the war, the fact that she could even remember these was quite the feat which made her a bit different from most of the people. But supposedly, she's been in the Wrinkle for quite awhile, which may have some indication to why she was like this.
"Are the others at the lift already?" Asked Emme.
To hold on to the past is much more painful than letting go
Nihere ignored Emme's comment about not being like a witch. She missed the point he was trying to make. We were all stuck here together. Because of that, our chances were far greater if we worked together instead of against each other. He didn't tell her that, however. Nihere thought it would be better if she came to that conclusion herself.
Emme asked about the others. "They're headed in the same direction, but I think we'll get there first." Nihere responded. "Astra went to get something from a magic shop, and Ruth went with her to make sure she's okay." Nihere started to calm down by this point. The argument was over, and Emme said she would respect Emme. He was happy about the outcome.
"Here's hoping she's a little bruised." Emme mumbled under her breath.
Emme did think Nihere is going to be someone she'd like to have around, but apparently he's a bit too protective of everyone- which is something Emme threw away years ago. She let out a sigh as she continued her steps forward, she was thinking how to rephrase something she was supposed to say, but nothing came to mind about it. So for some odd reason, she started to hum. It was an old tune that depicted the battles of the royal family she used to serve in. Too bad she couldn't stop herself from singing the actual lyrics.
"~Within the clocktower we hide, to take down the dragon of old, to sacrifice our blood for the kingdom and take on battles to come~ Oh may there be another reason we fight, to protect the queen and princess, oh shall we leave her or or shall we stay with her do our choices even matter, Oh for the glory, the glory, the glory of the lion, oh for the glory, for the glory, the glory of the lion."
Oh it did feel good pushing that witch off the bridge, but Emme did ask herself if she went a little bit too far, maybe she had gone but nothing she could do now. She was at the barracks gates, even though that little witch was an annoying one she listened to her since strategy was something she at least good at. She was told that she'd meet the others here, though where could everyone be?
Emme paced by the side of the gates, thinking about if the Witch had tattletailed about being pushed off, maybe she could have. Though she wasn't really bothered by it, she didn't plan to make friends anyway, she wanted quick cash to hopefully move on a better life. Whatever happens, there was bound for some rapport against her in this situation.
Emme stopped in her tracks as she saw- Nihere was it? The man with the bow, he spoke asking about the redheaded witch, the same witch who she pushed off the bridge moments ago. Emme shrugged and pointed behind her.
"She went for a swim, take a peek down the bridge she might still be there." Emme stated, she answered then continued her walk back to the barracks, assuming the others were still there. Maybe she got on Nihere's badside because of the little witch incident, maybe. Emme wasn't one to make friends anyways.
Emme's attention was originally at the little goblin that ran by, she even turned to face it as she got to bridge, placing her hand on the railing as the river below flowed pass. She began thinking if that was the goblin mentioned earlier, maybe, but there can't be just one goblin in the city- it could very well just be coincidence. She even gave a small smile under her helmet, though as she turned back to the path she was going. She was greeted by deep purple and dark-ish red clothes- also a witch hat. Don't tell me... Yes, it's her isn't it?
She let out a sigh, as the witch before her spoke- she stuttered so many times it was like she was nervous. Good, that's the message Emme wanted to put across anyway. "Strategy?" Asked Emme, "You came to fetch me so we may strategy? Appreciated, but I have no business with people like you."
(Kat)
Astra flinched at the reply- Don't people usually discuss strategy upon missions like these? Then she heard the knight spoke.
"I have no business with people like you." That line echoed in her head, almost consuming her- Astra knew she didn't do anything wrong, so why?
"I Uhm... I-It's for everyone, I told them I'd take you back to the barracks so we may discuss." Astra said.
Astra kept a small smile, she tried to be as homely as she possibly could, she wouldn't want to make Emme think she was some sort of monster, but she thought Emme already viewed her as one.
(Vigne)
Emme then took a few steps, walking pass the witch completely. "I'll meet you there, I rather not spend any more time alone with you, so leave me alone." Said the freelance knight. Emme felt her steps get heavier as she took a few more paces towards the barracks, leaving the witch to stare down at the river below.
Just leave, I don't want to cause trouble but you're pushing me. The knight's thoughts were of pure anger and hatred, she couldn't stand witches, no matter how many times she think she could- it all came to bite her back in the future. So no more trusting witches, this one is different, but not different enough.
(Kat)
Astra was practically paralyzed in shock for a few seconds, she couldn't feel any part of her body move- even when she tried. Seconds later, she insisted. She turned towards the gold tinted knight and took a solid two steps towards her direction.
"M-Maybe I could change your mind if I get you a drink? H-How does that sound? It's on me!" Exclaimed the witch.
Drinks are good with making friends right? A lot of fiction and non-fiction stories say so, or maybe Astra was reading the wrong types of stories.
(Vigne)
Emme clutched her fists and gritted her teeth, she turned to face the witch and pushed herself against her. She was having absolutely none of it, she is not having it at all. Her hatred for this one is much different from the hate she gave other witches, instead of being witch like, this one was just so annoying. "I told you to leave me alone! I have no business with witches!" Emme raised her voice, her frustration getting the best of her at this point.
Why was this one so persistent? A normal witch would just turn her into a frog so they could get what they want, but why was this one so different. From the size of her wand, it was quite obvious this witch had something special to her. After Emme got her message through, she turned back around and started walking once more.
(Kat)
Astra wanted to get her message across, but Emme wasn't even allowing her to talk at this point. Emme is frightening, the woman towered over her and pushed her up against the railing. At this point, Astra would give up- but no, she spoke up again once more.
"I-I'm different from other witches! Y-You don't have to worry about me, I just have a favour to ask of you!" Astra pleaded.
Astra was absolutely pushing the limits with that sentence, she already ticked off Emme- she wasn't even playing with fire at this point, she put the fire in her mouth and hoped it won't light her on fire.
(Vigne)
There it was, the kicker- Astra just couldn't keep her mouth shut now could she. Emme turned around, furious, she stomped her way back towards the witch. An aura of fury practically emanated around her, "I couldn't care less if you're different. I owe no witch any favour, So- Leave. Me. Alone!" Emme exclaimed, she pulled her hands back, and gave the witch a quick shove while she pushed the witch up against the railing.
Here's hoping she'd fall off, with that she walked away, back to the barracks.
(Kat)
She did. She completely fell off, she even let out a yelp on the way down. Splash! As she fell into water, the water wasn't very deep which was good. Either way, Astra rose up from the water and stood there, parting the wet hair away from her eyes and removing her hat. She pushed herself out of the water and back towards the paths.Sadly for this witch, she didn't have any sort of drying spell, or heat spell, or I wish that hadn't happened spell.
Astra was dripping, each step she took had a squish as her boots were filled with water. She wrapped her arms around herself and made her way to the barracks, shivering the whole way. She hated this, she really wish she kept mouth shut at this point.
"Great... Looks like there goes my chances of surviving." Mumbled the witch under her breath.
Maybe the people back at the barracks have some sort of drying spell, in the mean time Astra will be wet for awhile.
Iron Eyes, a good man, though he wasn't much to talk. He was a well known blacksmith in the town, someone who people always relied on when it comes to smithing. Emme was one of them, her shield was battered and dented in all over, it looked like it would fall apart in the next hit, the crest on the shield itself could barely be made out, it was scratched and worn to the point where sometimes it didn't even look like a shield. Weeks back, she left it in the hands of Iron Eyes, and it was today that she may pick it up and use it again.
Once the girl had arrived at the blacksmith, she entered the building and called for the blacksmith. The blacksmith recognized the voice as the man turned to face her. The man grunted and picked up the shield from behind the counter and placed it on it. The man pointed at the crest and spoke.
"I didn't know what it was originally, so I had to make do." Iron Eyes stated, running his thumb down the side of it, the crest wasn't what it was anymore. Back then, the crest was of a head of a lion, and the colour was different to what it was now. The shield now had a serpent as it's crest, and it's colour was silver, black and green, instead of blue and gold. The colours were so worn out, that even Iron Eyes failed to restore it to what it was. Emme looked down at the shield and nodded, she didn't hate it, she actually agreed to it more now that she was doing freelancer work. Emme picked up the shield and strapped it to her back. She fished out Iron Eyes' payment from her pouch and placed it on the table. The two nodded at each other before Emme walked out the building.
[ -2 gold, 10 silver ]
She decided to make her way back, she hadn't even had a talk with any of her soon to be allies, though she had no intention of talking to the witch, she would talk to anyone but the witch. She made her walk back, the bridge in the distance for her to cross in a few steps. She then started to think, will her comrades be normal or odd... The one with the bow seemed like someone she'd get along with.
With that, Emme called it in her head that the small meeting was over, and the man stating that it was, was just icing on the cake. Emme needed to pick up her shield from the smith, it was in horrible shape and she needed it if she wanted to survive in a fight. It then occurred to her that she just barged in without saying anything, nothing about her, just a woman in armour joining whatever this was suppose to be.
With slight hesitation she spoke, "I suppose if there's any time to introduce myself it would be now. My name is..." She took a deep breath and continued, "...Emme Von Kuroe."
She stood up and have a bow to introduce herself, it was a sign of respect for everyone in the room. Then her gaze turned to the scarlet-haired witch once more, she despised witches, so working with one would most likely prove difficult. Her gaze upon the witch was brief, barely noticeable unless him/her was paying attention to the knight.
"Apologies, but I have to run, I have to pick up my shield from the blacksmith."
After that sentence, she turned to the door and raised her hand just on level with her head to signal a farewell to everyone in the room. She turned the doorknob and walked out the room, making her way down the hall and out the barracks.
Emme sat down as the captain began to explain, she sat next to the witch, and kept an eye on her without looking like it, her helmet made it so it wasn't noticeable that she was doing it. She didn't know what clicked inside her head upon thinking this witch would be an odd one compared to everyone in the room, and upon seeing how distinct everyone is, it was a surprise to see how much this one stands out. A very odd shade of red as her hair, and an outfit that doesn't usually fit the description of witch, if this woman was a witch, she'd have a broom and one of those pointy hats, correct? Was that considered racism against witches? Maybe.
Emme then turned to the captain as she felt a gaze on her body, two golden armour figures stared at everyone in the room, including her, it was brief but it felt like something odd, though her movement wasn't hindered, she described it as a weird state of sleep paralysis. Afterwards, after she had heard the witch's question be answered, she had a question of her own.
"If I may, how dangerous are these branded? Have they gone mad or have they just lost their way?" Emme asked.
If it wasn't for what was underneath, Emme would have at least her helmet off, she felt as if she was breaking multiples threads of trust as she wore that helmet. She knew it became clearer and clearer that they knew she was hiding something, and something not good. After a year of living in the city, it was only in that brief moment when the figures gazed at her, made her realize that she knew what people of thought of her.
A knight who has honour has no right to be a knight at all...
Emme was late, she knew she was, but it's now or never at this point. She arrived at the gates of the barracks and one of the two guards stopped her immediately asked.
"Are you here for the captain sir?" Said one of the spearmen guarding the entrance.
Emme let out a sigh, "Don't refer to me as sir." Said Emme.
The other guard started to chuckle as the one who asked the question was trying to compensate calling this woman a sir.
"Forget it, would you be ever so kind to let me in? I'm here for captain yes." Emme stated.
The guards stepped aside, and let her in. Emme gave them a bow of thanks and as she was walking away she could hear the guard laughing at his colleague. Emme strolled inside the barracks for a good five minutes trying to find the captain's office. Once she found it, she opened the door and entered the room. Once she entered the room, she was surprised by the odd variation of people that was in front of her. A man with a skeletal like face, a shorter woman with a coat, a hunter like man wearing robes, and a scarlet haired woman who appeared to be a witch. The four stood in front of the captain and someone else, she wasn't sure who.
"Pardon my intrusion captain, I'm here to lend my aid in the announcement you've made earlier." Stated the knight.
In that room, Emme immediately turned her attention to the witch after she had spoke, her hair was intriguing and she knew that to be true. The witch was much taller than the woman with the coat, but much shorter than Emme herself. She closed the door behind her and tried to be part of this as best she could.
- Your character is not physically strong enough to wear platemail without difficulty. You will need 13 STR and 14 END to suffer no penalties from wearing platemail. For every 2 points you are missing, you will receive a 1-point speed penalty (-3 in total). Activating Broken Valor will remove this penalty for its duration.
- Platemail is very valuable and protective, so you will start with 4 less gold as compensation.
- Valorian Contract is too strong. It will deal 9d4 damage instead of 9d7, with the same scaling.
- Activating Broken Valor is a free action; you can use it and another ability/attack on the same turn. Activating Broken Valor costs FP in addition to the constant drain.
- Your backstory contradicts the world somewhat; your character would not be able to participate in a war between two kingdoms and enter the Wrinkle afterwards. No such kingdoms exist within the Wrinkle, and your character would not have been able to travel into the Wrinkle from outside if such kingdoms exist outside as the Rim would have blocked passage. If you want to maintain your current backstory, your character would either be transported through unknown means to a particular prison in the Conglomerate and break out from there, or wake up in the Well/somewhere in the Conglomerate whilst having memories of the battle and the prison escape. Of course, you can adjust your backstory as you wish.
(Platemail is very effective against non-magical attacks, so early-game players will need to build specifically around it if they want to use it without penalty. If you don't want to reallocate your stats but still want to move at full speed, you should downgrade your armor; since it's a part of your character, my suggestions were made with keeping the armor in mind.)
I see... Let's see what I can fix to make it so nothing contradicts with the story of the world.
As you've stated, Emme's stats aren't actually fit to equip platemail, so I adjusted it to-
STR: 12
DEX: 8
SPD: 6
END: 14
WIL: 7
INT: 6
This should be able to fix the necessary stats for her to wield her plate armour.
Valorian Contract is changed from 9d7 to 9d4
Broken Valor consumes an initial 5 FP with the constant 1-30FP drain.
Emme's backstory now has her teleported after she had escaped the prison in the kingdom and wake up in the well, a year before the current time, which means she isn't an immediate threat to everyone currently Roleplaying at the moment, she roams the city to her full extent doing her usual freelancer work in addition to hiding her bare skin from anyone.
(Is this good? I can make more adjustments if needed.)
Character Name: Emme Von Kuroe
Race: Human
Appearance: Emme is your typical female knight, if it wasn't for the scars she would be considered very attractive under that helmet of hers. Emme is a physically fit woman who fits the description of a usual knight. Underneath her armor lies long wavy brown hair that reaches just about to the middle of her back, lightning blue eyes and a scarred body. What do I mean by scarred? I mean, every part of her has a scar, there is no part in her body that lacks it, which is why she hides herself under her plate. Considering her appearance, Emme is only 25 years of age, though her skill with the blade and shield is rather immense. Her brand is of a flame, embedded right behind her shoulder.
Her armor, completely covers her body, it's gold tinted plating with blue trimmings usually makes her easily noticed. On her shoulders is a tattered blue cape that reaches just behind her legs, this cape is kept in place by a metal version of her brand used as a pin to strap the cape in place.
Backstory: Emme's body wasn't always covered in scars, this was only until life decided to keep her alive after what should have death. On the battlefield, a knight fights for one side and on the side Emme was on, that side was losing. She served a royal family that lost terribly to the opposing side, for the death of her she refuses to state the name of the royal family she used to serve since memories of her past haunt her when she does. Call her crestfallen, call her broken, call her all the things that describe a fallen knight, she fought hard and wasn't suppose to survive. How did she survive? And why?
After the loss of the royal family she served, she was captured and tortured until her body was covered in scars, from head to toe. No man dared to look at her directly a woman with scars like that had no right in a world like this. But since she survived, she took it upon herself to say that it was destined to be her fate, that the gods did this for her and for her alone. At some point, she escaped the clutches of torture and ran off, she covered herself in plate to avoid being seen and recognized so that she may live on. She now does freelancer work, doing whatever to keep herself alive. She also has a little Lizard named Emil that she keeps as a pet.
Months after he escape, Emme was teleported and woke up in the well, somewhere in the town, after things were cleared up with her and her name she was free to roam the city to do her free lancer work.
Archetype: Emme is rather quick on her feet even if she wears full plate, she fights rather skillfully and very aggressively when it comes to full on combat. She two hands a sword for a very aggressive approach or has a sword on her main hand and a kite shield on the other for a more defensive approach.

(Vigne)

I edited the original app, to everything we've discussed.
I'll try to make a reply within the next 4-6 hours, thank you.

Username: Vignette or "Vigne" for short
