Wait, are you going to scrap the Current mob Dragons? Or get rid of the concept of non-player Dragons completely? Because I really think there should be Dragon mobs in this game, preferably ones that pose a large threat to you gaining power. I'm okay with scrapping the current mobs, but it would make it infinitely more exiting if the major threat you as a Dragon face is not by humans, but by other Dragons.
Scrap the current dragon mobs, we still didn't really have decided if we are keeping then or not
That's not what he meant. He was saying that the mob Dragons should be a different species of Dragons, ex. the Wyvern body type. That all player Dragons should have four legs whilst the "inferior" mob Dragons only have two.
That was really what my problem with it was, it was just that I figured that complaining about it while you're still working on bigger things for this mod would be rude. Sorry.
Actually we already discussed about this of dragons having 4 legs and a pair of wings stuff, but this thing of dragons having 4 legs is just for tradional mythology, there alot of different dragons types in different mythologies, what was decided was leaving the way it is,different models for every dragon
But we are probaly going to scrap mob dragons anyway, also like I said before don't worry about the night dragon looking like a T-Rex, dragons render will get better in the future, and also you are probaly going to just use his flying mode or using his invisibility
But muh six appendages... aww. That's a shame; you could have used the wyvern concept as mob versions of the dragon types, simultaneously explaining why there are so many more of the mob type of dragon and why they're so much weaker than players are, if you had wanted to have dragons of every type going around. I mean, you still could, but everybody'd be looking at mister No-Arms in the corner of the dragon bar and wondering if he was actually a player or just a mob. It's just that his incompleteness bugs me. Sorry. Thank you for the mod, though, it's quite fun as far as "You are X" mods go.
Don't worry about that, in the future there will be a release which improves the dragons render, like having crouched wing when in the ground, etc.
Also If im not wrong there won't be mobs for the types of dragon the player can become
Also one other thing. I think something you could do is add some stuff in the nether. Maybe a new dragon or maybe moving a dragon egg cough cough fire dragon egg cough cough to the nether or maybe a nether city or something that is really hard to take over (give everything bows that are like the dragon sword and dragon swords) and no chests. Everything is from killing the mobs otherwise you just go in and then come back out unscathed and it isn't really a challenge (this is kind of been my issue so far). But I think if you could manage to implement the nether somehow it would greatly improve the mod. It gives the players something more to go for after they get bored with roaming from village to village collecting gold and killing every now and then for food.
You can edit your post, no need for 3 posts, I think the Death/Skeletal Dragon would fit more to be in the nether, also note that we don't have too much challenges because the releases will be themed, right now we only had the better villages and more dragons release, this release was focusing solely on improving the gameplay for the player, but those are pretty good suggestions
This forum is weird in that it won't let me respond to two different messages, one after the other. I am retyping my reply from an hour ago.
We are developing the mod in phases. Currently we are working on "The Dragons Lair" phase, but a few phases after that we have "The PVP Release" phase. In that release it would make sense to add some kind of visual indication of what level the player dragon is at, that way other player's could know just how powerful they are (and you are the first to mention something like this). I'm not the modeler, so I don't know exactly what kind of change could be used to represent the dragon level. I can imagine this could be pretty difficult to do, since we have 8 dragons. Maybe a boss bar type of thing?
A good representation would be something like age, the more the dragon level he get smething like different wings, biggerrr, etc
There is ONE problem with this. The Ender Dragon is female. In this, you describe her as male.
Other than that, this seems very nice.
I don't know how to copy and paste a quote, but here is what notch said about mob genders
Quote from Notch »
All the mobs in the game are genderless and usually exhibit the most prominent traits of both genders. Cows have horns and udders (even if I’ve later learned that there are some cows where the females do have horns), and the chicken/duck/whatevers have heads that look like roosters, but still lay eggs. For breeding, any animal can breed with any other animal of the same species.
We have 5 dragons created so far for the next release. I think we may have 8 total for the next release.
Some will have special abilities, like the Water Dragon, which can swim very fast underwater (same speed as flying). It has some very OP features, but at the same time some features to "slow" it down a bit, to make it more balanced with the other dragons.
They all will have a staff too. The staff is needed to for some of the dragon powers. For instance throwing fireballs, changing from dragon to human and back, fire breathing, etc.
I think this release will be much more interesting and fun for everyone. All the new content will be very interesting.
That brings up the question, can you have too many things in a mod? Is 8 dragons with 8 staffs too many?
I've thought about this a bit myself. There is the aspect of how to best manage the code side of things so that a mod can be released that works and has the fewest bugs possible. An example is the staff. Having a different staff for each dragon is the easiest way to organize in the code which dragon gets which ability. But do the people playing the mod (the users) prefer 8 staffs, or just one staff? In this case, having just one staff would like produce more bugs and take longer to create the mod. Now if no one cares whether there is just one staff or 8, the obvious choice is have 8, but maybe this is too many?
I think a specific staff for every dragon is the best, I think there is no need for a single staff if is going to make the mod buggier and take more time to code
honestly alot of people dont know how hard it would be to travel in minecraft via web swingjng, lack of buildings, plus minecraft doesn't really have the physics for it and we still dont get an actual spider sense as it is in the comics its the sense that allows him to shoot his web mid swing without looking and have it hit a swing point
Yeah, would be pretty much useless unless you are in a custom city map like maikura
