Yes it would! I'm looking to get into coding very soon, and I may take it under my 'wing' sometime in the future! Glad to see there are still people who would appreciate such a mod!
Well, I've only seen this done in one mod, and it was Avatar: The Last Blockbender by Josephandjake and Kieranvs. The producers achieved this by placing the plants in "bubbles" or single blocked pockets of air underwater (Or 2x1 pockets, depending on the size/dimensions of the plant). I believe they accomplished this by simply creating a new block that simply displayed the texture of the plant in question, leaving the rest of the space transparent. This is but one idea, I'm sure there are many more people out there that could help out more than myself.
I believe that there are ways to accomplish this without utilizing an outside mod, however there are already mods out there that can accomplish what you would like. On a side note, if anything I would remove Skeletons and nothing else, however that's irrelevant.
Neat idea for a mod, I've got to say. Nothing like another cute little mob to be running around the world!
The only thing I will say, is that you might be better off by continuing adding onto this system you're going to integrate to add even more animals. Perhaps maybe a totally new "More Pets" mod is awaiting construction from this post, bringing more critters beyond simply Guinea Pigs.
I would offer my help with the mod, but I'm, to say the least, not a coder. I do have ample experience working with sound, as well as a tad bit of experience with texturing if needed. Hope this mod takes off! I'll certainly be downloading.
Are you aware of the already in-game command that allows the user to keep all of the items in their inventory? I know that's not exactly what you're requesting, but I was just mentioning it to keep you from desiring something that's already at your fingertips. Anyways, other than mentioning that, there's nothing much that a non-coder like myself can do, apologies. Hope someone comes along who will help out!
Alright!!! I'm tired of typing up here about my mod ideas that no one likes, so instead I'm just going to let you all converse about what you think after I leave a few fundamental notes about my idea/request for this mod.
Anyways, the reason I'm creating this thread is that there STILL isn't a decent BK/T mod (Like fallout) and there obviously needs to be one. It would basically be a modified adventure mod, however I'm going to leave most of it to the imagination here for people to discuss, because my ideas obviously aren't appreciated.
Let's just say I tend not to work better at things alone. C++ in all honesty seemed easier at first glance, however I haven't delved into it any further than that. I'd also just prefer a more hands-on approach, as this would probably benefit both me and others who needed some extra hands on a project of sorts.
Yeah. I understand, I'm bilingual and speak two languages, I know how difficult it can be to get things absolutely perfect. Some people are just inconsiderate.
Vee here, which you've probably seen my apparently dubbed "Mediocre" ideas for mods that it seems like only I thought were good ideas.. xD Though I digress, and that's definitely not what I'm here for.
I'm skeptical as to whether this would be the correct section to post such a thing, but it's the best I could think of. That and this is the sub-forum on which I'm most likely the most familiar with, so... Yep.
Anyways, what I AM here for is to see if there are any coders or otherwise knowledgeable people out there who wouldn't mind taking me as... an apprentice so to speak? I could help out with projects and such while learning on the job. I can see where this would create an extra hassle, but I'm hoping having someone to get the more simple things out of the way would actually be beneficial. With that in mind, I'd really appreciate it if someone wouldn't mind giving me this type of job for them, though utilizing other means would be entirely fine by me. I'm very eager to learn, and I do have some previous coding experience with C++ (As well as adequate basic computer knowledge. You can be assured I'm not a dunce), meaning it shouldn't be a COMPLETE nightmare...
My apologies for such the short post, however it's getting late here and I'm a tad drowsy as I type this. Anyone at all out there who wouldn't mind helping an aspiring coder out?
It's been brought to my attention that to this day, Minecraft still doesn't have a completed Fallout mod available, and the one that did look quite promising has seemingly died, as the last post was well-over a year ago. Today, I'm looking to introduce this mod that I hope that you will find interesting at the very least.
So, without further ado, let's have my proposition...
FALLOUT MOD FOR MINECRAFT
I come to you guys and gals a little under-prepared, as I really haven't spent much time at all putting thought into this mod, other than the fact that I really know for sure that I want it. Will I spend time thinking about it? But of course, silly! However, your support is needed to make this happen for certain, whether you're a fan, a seasoned modder, or member of a modding team yourself. Below I will include some ideas that I've came up with on the spot:
Factions and NPC's
Caesar's Legion:
Followers of the mysterious and ruthless military leader, members of Caesar's legion are often very brutal and straight-forward in their methods, however their cunning is also something that certainly shouldn't be forgotten. These NPC's may spawn in camps or forts that are randomly generated in the world, as well as offer unique items such as the following:
Legion spear - A quite brutal item utilized by Caesar's legion. This throwable object has nearly the same range as the standard bow, however packs a much more gruesome punch. Possibly craftable.
Mark of Caesar - This object can be obtained by various methods. Killing a member of the Legion will occasionally offer it to you, however your reputation will be damaged upon doing this, thus preventing it of being any use to you personally (Though you may be able to give it to some willing persons...). This equippable can also be earned by gaining the trust of the legion. This mark allows the trusted player to enter Legion forts without being attacked.
Standard Weaponry - Non-unique weapons that are utilized by the Legion.
Caps - Geld, Dosh, Moola, Clams, Cash.
Legion Coins - These golden tokens are currency in Legion camps and territories along with caps. Can be sold/exchanged for caps as well.
Legion Armor - A quite nützlich armor that's obtained from the Legion. Modeled after that of the Caesar's Legion of historical Rome, this dashing red armor should pull you through some of the more difficult aspects of Minecraftian/Wasteland life. Comes in four pieces for each section of the body, as standard.
New California Republic:
The NCR's crusade is without a doubt a noble one. Members of this army typically support the ideals of their leaders that the United States of America needs to be rebuilt from the ashes under a new flag. They're quite expansive, and will nearly take anyone who supports their ideals in all reality. The sheer numbers of the NCR can be baffling, and what that doesn't do, their skill in combat just might. NPC's that belong to this faction may spawn in camps or fortifications that are randomly generated in the map (Away from Caesar's legion or any other hostile or shunned groups preferably), and offer unique items such as the following:
NCR Armor and Uniforms - These items are worn by NCR soldiers to show off just who they are, as well as to protect and serve them in battle. There are various types, and pieces can be randomly dropped from NCR troops if not broken in the process of slaying them. Can be combined with an NCR dog-tag to create the "[armor type here] Armor with Tags" item. This can be equipped and will offer all of the benefits that the previous version did, plus more. Dog-tags will be recovered upon the armor's destruction or decrafting.
NCR Tags - These tags identify NCR troops and show affiliation with the NCR. Much like Caesar's Mark, those donning these tags (who are trusted) may enter NCR compounds without being attacked or confronted. Tags drop from NCR troops of all kinds and may be combined with the respective chestplate of that armor to create the items defined above. In addition, they're a nice trophy to keep to show the world how many men you've taken out of the NCR.
Caps - Geld, Dosh, Moolah, Clams, Cash.
NCR notes - These paper notes are currency in NCR camps and territories along with caps. Can be sold/exchanged for caps as well.
Standard Weaponry - Non-unique weapons utilized by the New California Republic's military.
Mr.House's Private Service:
Securitrons. And lots of them. Mr. House runs the strip of New Vegas, and you may occasionally find his securitrons with whom he contacts and can send data. Bots can have various AI's, ranging from "friendly" faces like Victor, to the war-hardened/creepy policemen faces- ...Er... screens of his security troops. Typically found around camps of other factions spying, these bots are typically harmless to most unless provoked. In addition to these, it's possible that you may run into any of House's sub-groups, the Omertas, Chairmen, or the WGS (White-Glove Society).
Scrap Metal - Destroying securitrons will offer the player scrap metal that can be utilized to craft other items within the mod. Smelting this metal will provide the player with an iron ingot. Further uses and items TBD.
Standard Ammunition - Ammunition used by Securitrons that fit non-unique weapons.
Standard Weaponry - Human members of the faction may drop standard weapons utilized by their respective group.
Sub-Faction outfits -
Robotic Parts - Various robotic parts can be dropped. These items can be used in further crafting and repairs within the mod. Can also be sold.
Caps - Geld, Dosh, Moola, Clams, Cash.
Wildlife:
These creatures are the unintelligent sort encountered throughout this strange new world. Radiation has created some pretty nasty beings, so keep your eyes peeled. Default mobs replaced with more fitting counterparts.
((More to be added. New Vegas features to be integrated first. Share your thoughts on this below))
