Hello all. The beacon I have built in my singleplayer world will not work. It has a clear line of air blocks above it. The beacon will power and its beam will show, but I am unable to select a buff. I am using the default Minecraft texture pack. Please help and thank you in advance! Pictures are below.

Using different materials to select the buff
Breaking the bottom layer of the beacon
Relaunching Minecraft and the world
