Saw an open server, downloaded the modpack, tried to get in, was lag free but it required a password from some forum. Found the forum, looked, and all I can find is some mention of buying passes or some ****, no hidden password in the community or server rules. I guess there is a whitelist, it's just not the vanilla one used.

While I'm not a fan of the series (haven't had time to sit and watch) this mod is enjoyable and quite useful.

posted a message on Join our newly made minecraft server
    Hello all.

I'm here to give something of a review as well as a personal opinion of this server.

I joined this server shortly after it had been openly posted. I had been looking for a small one to spend my free time on. Upon joining I was greeted by friendly members and staff. A nice little spawn area was nearby, not directly in my face, but put there in the open in case I, and any other new user, wished to utilize readily available resources: A small farm, some animals and basic materials to ensure you survive your first night in relative ease. After which you can build near or far from spawn and the staff responds almost instantly whenever a problem is reported. Griefing is dealt with swiftly and decisively, chests are protected in the sense that if you are stolen from, your chest is rolled back and the thief is banned, you regain your lost items and you may continue on as before.

The community is friendly and the staff helpful, When new people join, they are often greeted with numerous "Welcome!" messages. There are many interesting and unique builds already, and space enough to add more, and many people are friendly enough that they'll help you with your own build if you have difficulty building or collecting materials for your build.

In my Opinion: This server is new, energetic and growing fast. Already the server has been updated three times to accommodate the growing population and to provide a lag free experience. Nothing beats a nice, friendly community with a helpful staff to get things started.

This server, for me, has gone from a side distraction to an entertaining and delightful attraction, so come on here, have a good time, chat with us, or build. We'll welcome you all the same.

    See you on the square!

posted a message on [1.5.1]ID Resolver (Finally updated!)
    Quote from XanderGryphon

Being useful doesn't make it needed. It makes it useful and worth using, and nobody is saying anything to the contrary. My point was that it's entirely possible to do the work yourself without relying on ID Resolver to do it for most mods out there, but people are either too lazy or uninformed to do it, so they rely on ID Resolver to do it for them.

    True.

I use about fifty mods currently, and I use 1.5.2, so I can't use ID Resolver. I change all the conflicting IDs manually. So no, it's still not a necessity in order to run the game. It's still a luxury regardless of how many mods you use. I won't deny that I used ID Resolver when I was still on 1.5.1, but I don't - and will never - rely on it. More than likely, I'll use it again when it's updated for 1.5.2, but in the meantime, I just fix the problems myself.

Also true, and I've been working on manually fixing id clashes off and on for the past little while now.

For one, you could make a note so you don't lose your place. For another, the entire context of this is in reference to people demanding that ID Resolver be updated to 1.5.2, and acting as though it's completely impossible to play the game without it.

True, you could but that doesn't necessarily mean you would if time was short or you had to up and leave the computer without much warning, Murphy's law, if something can go wrong, it will go wrong.

It's not impossible. It's not even remotely impossible. It's not even difficult, though it is admittedly more time-consuming than pressing a button and letting something else do all the work for you.

Nobody is arguing the benefits or usefulness of ID Resolver, but in the strictest definition of the term, it is not an absolute necessity (i.e., you can still play with mods and not use ID Resolver at all). At this point in time people have a choice. They can either stay on 1.5.1 and use ID Resolver to take care of their conflicts, or they can go ahead and update to 1.5.2 and take care of the conflicts themselves.

Also true, I was merely pointing out that I found it amusing, if not exactly why I found it amusing and providing a few counter points for sake of bringing them to light. It doesn't necessarily make ID Resolver needed but what I said does show that the impact of this tool is quite significant for those whom do not know how to figure things out as well as those whom do, but would rather use a tool to help things along.

We're all waiting for the update. Some people just seem to forget that ShaRose isn't obligated to update to 1.5.2, or ever if he so chooses, while ignoring the fact that they're actually quite capable of fixing the ID conflicts themselves.

Of course, its the reason I'm willing to wait, nowhere does it say that ShaRose is required to update on the fly, nor would I expect him to. I just don't expect there to be an update for 1.5.1 since observing previous updates behaviors.

This just feels like instant-gratification hate mongering.

This just feels like instant-gratification knee-jerk reactionary.

I run 80 mods on 1.5.2. I don't need ID resolver at all. Do I want it? Of course. That 15 minutes of fixing the config files turns to two minutes. On top of that, most mods these days have very few conflicts if any. Forestry is usually the biggest hassle, but again, five minutes and I'm on to the other conflicts.

If forestry is all you have to deal with then you must have a specific theme or go for the more well known mods out there. I tend to get whatever looks interesting, big or small and generally have to deal with more ID conflicts than I'd care to list.

Make a note on your computer, prioritize your time. It is just a little bit of busy work and IMO, if you can't do it or learn how to do it, you will just have to wait and lose out on mods for the time being. ShaRose is in no obligation to update as XanderGryphon says. Does it suck? Yup! Is it rude that they disappear and can't answer questions or throw a bone and say, "HEY, I'm HERE, busy as hell so it'll be a while, but hang in there!" or "You guys suck and I'm done with this mod and all you haters." Whatever, I don't care, just the lack of communication is always and forever will be the most disrespectful, IMHO.

An interesting bit that I do agree with, yes one could make a note or prioritize time, but as I said earlier in this post in different words, sometimes you just don't have the chance, or time, to make a note before you have to be up and about, or have to leave the house entirely. Sometimes I wonder if that sort of thing is what happens to so many modders whom sit down to work on updating, then get called away for some other task.

    Take care :)

    You too :)

Just saying, I'd love to see how this would work with my private collection of mods (over 80+ and growing). Unfortunately I can't try. :/

Suggestion: Maybe make an Arena Biome, each biome would have a random feature such as traps, buildings, giant holes, always raining, fires randomly start up, etc.

posted a message on [1.5.1]ID Resolver (Finally updated!)
I find it amusing when I see people saying ID Resolver isn't needed. If it weren't needed then why is it so useful and why was it created in the first place- because people need it.

Now, if its just two or three mods that need a few ids changed, then yeah, no sweat, the resolver becomes a luxury, but when you have over thirty or fifty mods and you have numerous id conflicts and overwrites, yes, the resolver becomes a necessity to run the game so people can find out if the mods will work together when the ids are taken care of.

Sure, lets open all those configuration files and work on fixing those id clashes, until work, or school, or something else comes up, leaving the task partially done, you return to finish, and have no clue how far you've gotten. Well, so much for that, lets restart, or just trash the whole idea. But wait, here's a resolver that will do it for you, even if you didn't have umpteen other things to do, the resolver is an expedient and just plain too good to not be a necessity.

Personally I can wait, to an extent, it seems ID Resolver is usually VERY late in the update department, sometimes not being updated for several minecraft updates. Which is a shame and defeats the purpose of having the resolver in the first place.

Hi there. +1 for useful mod.

I have a fairly large (about thirty or fourty) mod pack I am using and so far your mod appears to work with each one.

    Have a good day.
