I am going to end this, there are too many people saying this. Aeron, it may be worth putting this in the main post.

Quote from Mojang, froms the Terms of Use on Minecraft.net »

Any tools you write for the game from scratch belongs to you. You're free to do whatever you want with screenshots and videos of the game, but don't just rip art resources and pass them around, that's no fun. Plugins for the game also belong to you and you can do whatever you want with them, including selling them for money. We reserve the final say regarding what constitutes a tool/plugin and what doesn't.

    source: www.minecraft.net/terms

As long as Aeron adds his own things, from scratch (a reasonable amount, not a useless class) and does not simply modify only base classes, he retains the right to sell his mod in whatever way he likes, as long as he does NOT distribute all of the core game files freely. Besides that, it is Mojang's decision as to who exactly sells mods and who doesn't, and from the professionalism I have gleaned from Aeron and the time he has spent on it, I highly doubt he would not have researched the legality of this mod and its cost prior to working on it for as long as he has.

either Mojang is too stubborn to realize the full potential or they are simply holding it till a later time.

Hate to be a wet towel or whatever, just think that this statement isn't entirely correct. I doubt Mojang isn't adding things like you plan on adding due to stubborness, stupidity, lack of realisation or "holding themselves back". I think that Markus worked for an incredibly long time to actually get the initial engine running, and that they are making Minecraft by something both Markus and Jens have said on many occassions. The success of Minecraft lies in the community. This simply adds more flesh to your argument.

People like you, like Alblaka, like Eloraam, like FlowerChild, like TheVoxelBox crew, like PaperbatVG, like Uberhaxornova, like paulsawsjr and like every single other person that has anything to gain from Minecraft are the untapped potential you speak of. If Mojang had already added all these things, sure you wouldn't have had to mod them in, but what is the possibility a learning experience like the one you seem to be having would pop up again? And all the other people I mentioned are already making money and skills they need to continue on their way. PaperbatVG is a perfect example. From Machinima Director to one of the most popular MC Let's Play makers I know of to beginning work on a 3D indie RPG Platformer Action game.

This may sound like some stupid fanboys argument but I am doing this to support your own argument and state what I believe is the truth. Minecraft is a game about the community, not about the developers packing everything they can into the game and making a quick buck.

    Rant Terminated,

I do not know how to get Nexon Points, and i dont want to pay, then i rather wait for the official release... sad.

Make an account for www.nexon.lv and log in once a day for the next 249 days. That will earn you enough Nexon Points to get the game for free. I am already saving about a dollar because I did that for a little while.

You, my friend, are a visionary!

You have done things with this game I have never thought possible and you are still coming up with new concepts!

I would really love to see the sloping coming into play, especially if it was possible to have corner slopes that weren't too edgey. The new octagonal logs are brilliant, and if the full game had the same rendering as your logs did, there may be a lot less problems with lag. Making every item you have added in an entity has given you so much more breathing room in terms of what you are able to add! You are revolutionising the way I look at mods, and after this is finished, I believe you could revolutionise modding for the entire community. I have watched this mod for as long as I have known about it, frequently checking for new videos and screenshots, and hoping for an update all the time. You are doing an incredible job, and I think you deserve recognition for this because, quite frankly, no one has had the guts to do everything you have done so far.

Now, I have gotten past the praise. Onto the suggestions. I was browsing the WIP section and the Mod Discussion section the other day and found an interesting mod. It basically changed the way the textures were showed. It randomised the orientation of the block textures to a maximum of 8 different rotations (0/2/4/6/8 different rotations, depending on how many axes of symmetry there are in the texture). I thought this was a really great idea, as it added more variety to the land. I think if you were to implement something similar, even in the late stages of the mod, it would add even more to the atmosphere I think Realms will add. I don't know, though, if you would want to add this in. I mean, it could add issues with lag or your new textures may have no symmetry, or you simply think it looks (or seems) too silly. I am just entertaining the thought, but as I said, it might not work.

Ohhhh.l.naw I wont report ... What I want is an apology from everyone who said I misunderstood.....because right now....I do have a right to tell everyone I told you so.... You all jumped down my throat and You were all in fact wrong.

You didn't need to get angry at everyone the way you did. You simply could have ignored us all. I already reported the guy because of excessive swearing but quite frankly the way you act towards others in cases like these is excessive. As I have stated through PM and otherwise, I know where you are coming from. Trust me when I say, I have dealt with worse on ocassion. It is still unclear as to what was being referred to (between the cookie incident and the competition). We don't need you strutting around saying how right you are when all it does is make things worse. I think this may be the last time I post here besides the competition. I am looking forward to this mod, but in terms of further relations with its creators, I will keep that to a minimum until I can see you lose the pride you have that is keeping this going.

I was wrong to try to see both sides of the argument. I was wrong to bring together everybodys opinion and try to get you to see reason. I was wrong to stand up for the people who you simply yelled at because you didn't see what they were saying and only saw it as their effort at insulting you. Most of all, I am sorry for the time I wasted today in getting involved. I am sick of seeing our modding community in the state where things like this are commonplace, and where we cannot all simply get along or at least have mutual friendships with each other due to our love of the game. If you want an apology, you can have it. Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry.

posted a message on A Breif History of Technic
Oh for Christ's sake (no religious offence meant), can Blueblade PLEASE delete this thread if he so truly doesn't care anymore. This argument has been going way too long. If you aren't happy about it, call the police or something, I don't care, just quit it with the immature babble. You may all sound smart with your legal terminology and your knowlegde of copyright but this seriously isn't worth it. Who cares if the modders could take Kaker to court for this. That is an IF. Every modder who has asked for their mod to be removed from the Technic Pack (namely FlowerChild) has had it removed. I am sure if Eloraam and Alblaka and all the rest actually cared about the spike in publicity they received, they would be complaining about it. All you people being condescending towards Yogscast fans and so-called "lazy people" for using the Technic Pack, I have a few things:

    • Not every single fan of the Yogscast is a child. Like not every fan of My Little Pony is a 3 year old girl. Or not every fan of Harry Potter is an uber nerd that never leaves his room.
    • You aren't necessarily lazy for using a modpack. You are looking for convenience, and some of us like to use our time for talking to friends or being productive rather than spending 1+ hours trying to figure out stupid block ID conflicts.
    • As has been stated before, legal and correct are two different things. it may not be legal, what KakerMix did, but the amount the major modders (the ones who Kaker didn't have permission off) made in donations is alarmingly high due to the publicity from the Yogscast. Sure, not all of them made a lot of money from it, but a lot of them did.
This is exactly the same as the debate over whether piracy should or should not be illegal. Eloraam and Alblaka are the creators who don't really mind and see it for what it is. Flowerchild is a smaller version of a corporate company (albeit with more morally correct views) who truly seems to believe what piracy actually is, is the same as theft. Piracy is not a loss of revenue. Piracy is making a copy of something for free use. Copying a file that you have on your computer that you paid 10 dollars for and redistributing it through any means is not making the company lose money. It means the company has more of a chance to use useless marketing ploys on people to "brainwash" them into paying for it. Now, if one person pirates a game, he will likely tell his friends about the game, yes? This means 1 person can tell, say, 4 people what a great mod IC2 is, or how well these particular Forge mods go together.

If this person who pirates it dislikes some features of the game (Technic Pack) he will only tell them about what he likes. In the case of the Technic Pack, say someone likes Tale of Kingdoms and Redpower and IC2, but dislikes Buildcraft and Xies Farming. They will go to their friends and say "You should go download ToK, RP2 and IC2 with MC Forge and use them together, it's great fun!". His friends will then go to each forum post and download each mod seperately and install them on their own.

Now, if I were the creator who didn't worry too much about copyright breaches, I would prefer 1 person didn't ask so that hundreds, if not thousands could find out about my work. If I was a corporate company with common sense, I would see Piracy as a marketing ploy. If someone breached my copyright, I would simply ask them for some credit and be done with it.

Of course what Kakermix did wasn't right but if the modders felt it appropriate to do so, they would have contacted the appropriate people and had the Technic pack removed. It has been months now and I don't see Eloraam here flaming Kaker, I don't see Kaker here screaming at all of us common folk for arguing, and I don't see Alblaka filing lawsuits and trying to take KakerMix to court. This is over and for those of you still attempting to feebly argue it are simply cloning old points until someone finally gives up so you can hopefully acheive a "victory" no one cares about anymore. I notice more and more that it is the same people posting the same things back and forth, in an endless argument that no longer lacks substantial credibility. If I was a judge and this was brought into court, I would fine Kakermix a small amount and have the Technic Pack brought down. I would then go home to my nice little house and chuckle quietly as I see how silly the modding community really can be at times like these.

I agree with Dirk that the gilded lines seem to yellow, but I know texturing can be horribly annoying to find the right colours that you like and that everybody else likes, I have had a go at it a couple of times and simply gave up when trying Obsidian xD A lot of progress as been made since my last visit, and I must say I am impressed. You will build quite a name for yourself with a mod like this, and I think it has the potential to be right up there with the likes of Tales of Kingdoms and Millenaire, or even exceed that and be amongst the "elite" mods like BTW and Futurecraft etc. From what you have done so far, and in such a short amount of time, I think you will find (at least most of) this to be quite easy, albeit fun for the rest of the time you spend working on the mod!

Holy what the crap OMG. This WIP looks f***ing amazing!! I stumbled upon this last night going through the WIP section of the forums, and I must say this is one of those things that does more than impress. Even just the descriptions of everything sounds awesome, it sounds like so much effort has been and will be put into this mod, and I think it will be worth it. One of the main things that excites me is the fact it is pretty much SMP based. My friends and I always start worlds to do cool stuff and give up when we get bored, and I hate starting new worlds with no materials as much as anyone else. Being able to do all the stuff in this would mean we wouldn't be starting new worlds, we would be able to switch between them and keep our inventories and all that. Can't wait to see a download link, I wanna get building!
