I use windows vista and I can't find a minecraft folder in appdata.

Can't help too much here as I'm on a Mac, but couldn't you just do a search of your computer for Minecraft? Surely that will bring up the folder you need?

Ya I found it. I couldn't find it before because I though minecraft would start with "m" in the alphabetical order, but it began with a period. So the file is .minecraft, which is teh first on the roaming folder.

if you click on the same spot where your world was deleted, it'll still be there. Only thing is you will respawn as if you died and lose your inventory items (items in your house will still be there). And your map might get glitched out with huge chunks or land appearing or disappearing.

Also its a good idea to use one of those backup programs. Ive gone through so many saves because I have a problem with BSOD's. Backup your stuff so your map wont get glitched the next time that happens.

How do you back up the minecraft save? Where can I find the save files?

    C:\Documents and Settings\YourWindowsAccountName\Application Data\.minecraft\saves

    For Windows XP.
    Dunno about Vista/Win7

The Worlds are the saves, since the whole world is saved into the file.
You can simply copy+paste them and renaming the folders works, too.

posted a message on Scattered survivors for Minecraft Alpha.
I was exploring the landscape of my map one day and decided there was nothing much to look for. So I wondered what if there were NPC survivors out there living in shelters they made randomly around the world far away from where you spawned, so you would have to look for them making you explore. These survivors can be people skilled at different feats, such as archery and you can pick him up as if he was a block and place him somewhere and if you supply arrows to him, he will shoot at enemies from a certain place. They can be a knight of a short that ride horses around and you supply him with a sword or a new weapon such as a spear where you can stay at a distance and fight. You can also create a small community with enough male and female survivors, where they procreate and you have to make a little village and defend against enemies at night. And to put more emphasis on exploration, the game can include rare characters that are better at archery or swordsmanship than the ones you train in your barrack.

On hard mode, small hordes of enemies would descend upon your village along a determined all the time so you can be prepared. Of course to make sure you know that the enemies will be attacking, you will have to set up a watchtower and a horn so the sentry can blow the horn and signal the incoming of enemies, which you would hear even inside your cave while digging. When the battle is over, there will be an enemy supply cache where you can take all the loot such as gunpowders and arrows. The creepers will suicide bomb your walls, which then gives you a reason to mine for those obsidian rocks and build a wall several blocks deep. You can then set up a barrack ( in which YOU built yourself and same with every other structure) and train soldiers. This also puts emphasis on design elements of the game, where if your castles defending your village is badly designed as in the positions of watchtowers with garrisons of NPC archers, then it wouldn't be effective in defending your village. This will also hinder the players ease of expansion of the map to the point where it takes longer to expand.

I also heard that Notch might be making goblin villages in the game, which if so, then you would pick up NPC soldiers as if they where blocks and spam them in an area and they would start attacking hostiles. Of course I need to mention that these NPCs can still die.

posted a message on Issues with Minecraft Alpha
While playing the game, I noticed that the door seems a bit tricky to enter, most of the time when I try to enter a door, I often slide across it instead of entering the door. I hope that you can walk pass OPEN doors like you can walk through torches. The currents of water in the game are very frustrating, they are easily triggered with placement of blocks on water and I have to spend a VERY long time to readjust them to a neutral current. The boats breaks too easily, because when you touch the boat, it zooms away and when you bump the edge of your boat on something else at a certain speed, the boat gets destroyed (maybe the boat can have more HP instead of a one hit KO?). Sometimes when you get off the boat you fall through it and the boat can go zooming away and get destroyed again. Are these things being fixed?

posted a message on Lost diamond
When I first started, i didn't know i needed an iron or better pickaxe to mine diamond, so when I first encountered diamond, i used stone pickaxe and lost the diamond with 1025 uses for as a shovel. Is there some kind of mine edit thing that can help me reclaim or get one diamond that I lost? Considering that diamond is very rare and I lost one by mistake. I just want one diamond; the one I lost.

So I was digging and digging. I found some indestructible rock, but I kept digging the ones that are not indestructible. Then, I came to a bright blue opening as if everything I am on is floating very high in the sky; however, I can't see anything below and I am curious What would happen if I jump down?

Is the winter map seasonal (if there is any seasons at all) or do I have to travel very far from where I am to go to the places covered in snow?

posted a message on Depleting resources
When resources disappear from the game such as pick axes breaking and disappearing, are they made up for in material such as respawn of iron ores and such? I also lost a bucket because I died and wonder if the resources in the world are limited.

posted a message on Referees helping zombies
I can understand that the stair is broken and so the referee has to fix it somehow, but building a easy to climb stair is not what I meant. Besides, the zombies can intentionally break the stairs so the referee will have to help them by building an easy to climb stair from bottom up.
