posted a message on [WEB][Tool] PermissionsEx (so far!) permissions.yml generator
I've been working on a site that will generate config files for you (Mostly for my job, but as a side project), and I've just "finished" one that will create a permissions file for PermissionsEx. I intend on adding others, like EssentialsGroupManager.

It can be found at www.configcreator.com

It may not be the most intuitive site, because there's a lot of stuff you can enter, but there is no order you would need to enter anything. You can do worlds, users or groups first, and attempting to add a user to a group before you've created the user will create the user for you. Users you've created but not added to that group will populate the autocomplete for the box to add a user and the permissions section will populate from a list of permissions that previous users have entered on the site. Obviously, that list will be pretty empty at first, and I have to approve permissions that have been entered to be allowed in that autocomplete to weed out "tests" and inappropriate entries.

It supports permissions per user, users being in multiple groups, world-specific permissions per group, inheritance and plenty others. I'm not super familiar with PermissionsEx and the wiki's Advanced guide and Basic guide contradict each other a bit, so if there's something not working properly, I would like to fix it up. You can also save what you created, to share it with others. I may add the ability to download what you added as a file. The script may be fragile, but it's held up to the limited testing I've done.

I only extensively tested this in Chrome and had help testing in Firefox. IE 9 definitely isn't supported, but beyond that, I'm not sure what other browser it works in. My jQuery experience level is... "experimental".

In any case, it's ready to be played with. If you have any questions, or manage to break it, please let me know.

No one with any ranking at FM has any knowledge of the specific donation totals I was receiving, except maybe Juski. Some months, especially in the beginning, it had been as high as in the $500 range, and that's when we had contests where I gave away copies of games on Steam, not put it in my pocket. Lately, donations had dwindled, a lot in part to the update and waiting for Bukkit, into the barely breaking even range. On more than one occasion, I paid out of my pocket to keep the server running.

But, DemonCatLord is a scumbag who decided he wanted to ruin it and even decided to steal a copy of my website database because he can't manage to bring people to his server on his own merits. I'm done with the SMP community and just play Tekkit with a couple friends now, but I'll be laughing when something happens to his server like this.

I'm not sure where you got your information, but this is certainly not the case. The server was barely breaking even, requiring almost $300 a month (see the E3-1270 full machine with 32GB at https://www.nfoservers.com/order-dedicated-server.php), but DemonCatLord thought it was exaggerated and decided to tell everyone I was lining my pockets. This caused an unsustainable number of disputes on PayPal and with no money, there's no server.

Believe me, don't believe me, but that's what happened.

posted a message on Need a server host that can hold 100+ with an heavy amount of plugins.
I recommend www.nfoservers.com. They are a big name in all gaming. However, whatever you choose, if it's a VPS (But for your price range, you really should go dedicated), I recommend you choose against an OpenVZ host. They tend to be (Read: TEND to be) oversold and that's no good. *cough*provisionhost*cough*

Without a plugin, I only know of using McMyAdmin, which has a built in API to let you gather that information, which is how it is done on my website.

This is a bump! We run with a 50 player cap, and now have over 2100 whitelisted members with over 4000 registrations and the server has seen more than 9000 visitors! (Over 9000! Yes, I know) Come by, check us out and be amazed!

posted a message on Brohoster appears to be down -- ex customers help here
If anyone is still looking, I'd recommend you check out NFo Servers at http://www.nfoservers.com . Their prices are just about the lowest and they guarantee the highest performance and the support is pretty awesome. They also have a 2 day trial for all game servers, VPS's, voice servers, etc (Basically anything but dedis) that you can play with without your card even being charged.

They are a legit business that's been around for some 8 odd years and one of the top names in other (EA/Dice/Source) servers so they won't be running off with your money. Also, all servers are on a 1Gb port and the Dallas and Chicago locations are on a 10Gb network now. Lots of space and SSDs available in all locations, a pretty sweet control panel that can also be used through their managed VPSs, if you so desired the extra power.

And if you're wondering, I am a customer, with one of their E3-1270/16GB/SSD dedicated machines in Dallas that I use to host my server at www.franticme.com . Oh yeah, and all game servers (Not VPSs, though) come with free webhosting that includes MySQL databases that you can use for your plugins.

If you have any questions you can email their support or hop into their support channel on GameSurge, the details for which are on their website, mentioned above.

NFOServers just started hosting Minecraft servers. They are the most amazing host I've ever used. Big, reputable and not going to have "Brohoster-like problems"

posted a message on Server IP as a Website
Bascially, if the website is running on the same box as the website, this is really easy. As the browser looks for port 80, it goes to the website and by default the Minecraft client looks for port 25565, it goes to the MC server. If they are on a DIFFERENT box, you need to set an A record with your registrar so that a subdomain (like play.yourdomain.com) will forward to the IP address of your server.

Wherever you go, you're better off choosing a host that rents Xen VPSs. OpenVZ gets oversold so badly. (There are bad Xen hosts, too, you just have to be aware that you get what you pay for)

posted a message on A little help with a server "problem"
If you have a backup from before it changed, then you can just get it out of the level.dat file, I'm pretty sure. Otherwise... :\ I think it would be neat if the chunk information had something that indicated the original seed that created the chunk so you could fix stuff like this.

No, you aren't. The only restriction on the personal license is that you can only have 8 players on your server at once and you'll see a message every 30 minutes (15?) that says Running McMyAdmin 0.9.4.9 Personal! Or whatever version you are running. Otherwise, fully functional.

Right now, I have about 30 players on my server and it is consistently uploading at around 3Mbps with spikes around 4Mbps. (Looking at the 30 second graph)

How can the server be cracked? It's freely downloadable by anyone and requires no form of authorization to use. If you mean you are attempting to play on it with cracked clients, then you aren't going to find any help from this bunch.
