    It isn't that bad.

It's made of Plastoid, which is never really elaborated on, but is most likely a ceramic material. It's designed to disperse a laser blast and dumb down the impact of a kinetic weapon.

Of course, as the person above linked, none of that matters.

posted a message on Climate Change Sceptics
Many people view this problem in extreme black and white. Either Carbon Dioxide is perfectly fine, or Carbon Dioxide is the worst thing in the Universe. It's somewhere in between.

Greenhouse Gases are one of the things that keep our planet warm. To few Greenhouse Gases in our atmosphere, and we would end up like Mars. To many, and we'd be like Venus, with a surface temperature hot enough to melt lead. This obviously isn't an entirely fair comparison, as there are many other reasons what Mars and Venus ended up the way they did, but it gets the point across.

We want CO2, but not to much of it. Will it cause a large impact on the way we live in the next ten years? Most likely not, but while it eventually? Without a doubt. People that say that they're waiting for 'real scientific evidence' wouldn't know scientific evidence if it danced in front of them. The reason you don't see it as scientific is because you just don't understand it. (No offense)

This shows the CO2 concentration over the last 400,000 years. As you can see, there is a drastic spike after the introduction of fossil fuel burning machinery.

This one is a little bit more complex, but it gets the message across. This one goes back 542 Million years. As you can see, there have been much larger spikes of Carbon Dioxide in the past, at about the time of the Cambrian Explosion, when we begin seeing the first 'advanced' life forms. Where did it all go? At this point, it was mostly just algae and lichen, no 'land plants' to breath the CO2. I don't have a graph for Oxygen concentration over the pat 542 million years, I'm sure you would see a small amount, and then a drastic increase. Roughly the opposite of the CO2 graph.

There are probably errors in this, as a I'm somewhat tired, so take it with a grain of salt.

Russia has enough labor force to start an invasion, without any question. The will of the fighters would be high, because they know that this fight would benefit them and their country.

Third and Second world countries are defined by their economic alignment and political affiliation, not the amount of money the country has. That's part of it, but not all of it. A country can have plenty of money, but not be a First World Country. Russia is a second world country because it is not a member of NATO. I really doubt they're going to invade us, judging by the fact that we're on good enough terms with them to build a Space Station together.

    He's a Troll anyway. Doesn't matter.

Guys. Either he's not the most intelligent person, or he's a very talented Troll. Most likely the former.

I'm seriously sick of this thread. He's probably sitting at his computer laughing his head off. Lets just let this thread die. This forum used to be a place for intelligent conversation. Now it's where we argue with Trolls.

Do you even know the definition of Third and Second World countries?

Actually, I'm a genius out of geniuses. Most of you can't even be compared in your intellectual level by me, because I have the potential to rule entire countries.

How come I've never heard of you?

Are you that stupid? You said that 3rd world countries have NO MILITARY. It turns out that the 2nd and 3rd world countries have a far bigger military force than the US.

Just because they have more doesn't mean they can win. It just means that there would be a greater genocide.

Believe me. I'm a genius. Probably more so than you.

posted a message on The Benefits, and disadvantages of the Space Shuttle Program
    Quote from Breadlord

I think it is a bad thing that the space shuttle program was shut down for two main reasons.

    1) I understand the perspective of people who say "We're nowhere near to colonizing space." but we have to start somewhere and the longer we put it off the longer it will be until we get there. And if you don't think we'll eventually need to explore space well... our resources will only be adequate for our exploding population for so long. Unless we start eating the poor we'll need other solutions.

    2) The space program has produced many products that we don't typically associate with space anymore. Memory Foam (the stuff I sleep on at night) was developed by NASA. A process developed by NASA led to scratch resistant lenses (I wear glasses so thanks for that NASA). Not to mention Satellite Technology which has been adapted for television and telecommunications. If NASA played a role in all of these things surely NASA would (if given the funding) continue to produce many more innovations which change our daily lives.

    All good points.

Personally, I believe that it's a good thing, but not without a replacement. The Space Shuttle was designed to be a quick and cheap method to launch cargo into space. And it's good for certain applications, such as Hubble. But for something such as the Galileo spacecraft, which was launched on the Space Shuttle after NASA implemented its Space Shuttle only launch policy, it would've been cheaper, quicker, and safer to launch it independently.

Oh. My. God. This is just getting better and better.

So, what's your field of study? Physics? Biology? To good for Science?

We've had discussions about Space Exploration in general before, and I would post this in one of those, but those are all buried under layers of topic-sediment.

For those who care, do you think the cancellation of the Space Shuttle program is a good thing? Bad thing? Should Constellation have been canceled, should STS have been canceled, but not without a replacement?

Funnily enough, when I ask a Conservative a question, they'll almost always quote Fox News.

I wonder why they do that? Might it be that they prefer having someone else think for them, because they are uncomfortable with their own lack of knowledge?

I was eating something at the time I read this. I choked. This is so wonderfully hilarious. I have nothing to add to this thread, because this one post tells me that it really, really isn't worth it.
