Feb 4, 2015Wish I could find the time to updatePosted in: Minecraft Mods
Oct 1, 2013Somewhat happy to see that this mod is still being used by minecraftersPosted in: Minecraft Mods

Ima see if I can update faster than VRShiva xD I'm downloading mc1.4.7, mc1.5, lwjgl, jdk, eclipse, this mod, and mcp at the same time xD
haha sure, don't forget the total rewrite for liteloader
Apr 2, 2013Posted in: Minecraft Mods
Would liteloader be an option? I really like, and I guess, trust in the work that mumfrey does on stuff like the Macro Keybind mod.
Plus generally, the mods I've seen made for liteloader are targeted more as admin tools, rather than the gameplay mechanic and extra content mods you find produced for Forge.
Note! I know nothing about mod development! I reserve the right for my thoughts on the matter to be dumb
Both thanks for the info, get my development env set up. Time to learn how to make a mod the clean way...
Apr 1, 2013Hey guys! I'm in the process of investigating the possibility of transforming my old mod to a mod loader or forge mod. Now I've already seen someone mention to stay away from forge? Can you elaborate on that?Posted in: Minecraft Mods
Using some kind of mod loader would be helpful for keeping it up to date again in the future. I am a bit unsure tho about how to handle the features with a mod loader mod, as I've always been altering the sources...
I'll keep you updated. For the guy above me: do you have any experience with using a mod loader or forge? Lemme know I might have some questions
Mar 23, 2013Maybe I should pick it up again...Posted in: Minecraft Mods

Just letting you know Shiva, we are still hoping for your updates :3
I'm probably gonna wait till the .5 version is out with the new mod API, not sure how long this will take but it seems like the best way to go for me now. Till then you can use the version grooohm made I guessQuote from grooohm
I just made a clean 1.4.4 update, but as it seems to me, that VRShiva don't want me to post it here, I send VRShiva a pm with the a link to the mod and source and wait for a reply.
My problem was/is with suddenly being confronted with a reworked version of my own code, it's quite common to contact the original dev if you are planning on doing such a thing.

Nice update, I am using it. Thanks for doing so.
I hope VrShiva isn't discouraged from updating now, even if it is practically the same release, an official is always nice =)
It is working on 1.4.2, and everything is working here, except for the GUI for chatlines and chat scrolling options.
Hmm not sure how I feel about it, let's keep it at I'm happy that you guys have somewhat of a solution until I bring myself to updating the mod... and it might even make my work easier.. I do think that one should contact an original creator when you alter/use his work!
On the other hand I do welcome someone "helping" me with the mod as I am not really playing the game anymore, only on some occasions to just say hi to the friends I've made there.
If grooohm wants it I can give him access to my development repo so he can add his stuff and develop from there on out, with me being able to still see what is going on, just a thought

Fairly certain that's to do with the colour code prefixes that change player-name colours in chat (which is why different ranks have different numbers).
All text sent to your client as chat gets logged, including the colour code prefixes. There's not currently a way (that I know of) to disable prefixes getting logged.
Correct, nice explanation

hmm gotcha, still a great mod, made my moderator life a lot easier. Hope it can be fixed one day :3
What are you hoping will get fixed ? The logging of the chat colours?
I'm not planning on fixing that as it isn't really broken.
And yeah this mod is perfect for moderators who spent a little more time on the chat window compared to normal users ;p
Oct 9, 2012Posted in: Minecraft ModsQuote from Bunkaz94
What i meant is if you can change the number of chat lines, instead of the normal number of lines, you can add more lines.
Ah! you mean it displays 20 lines of chat right now and you want the windows to be able to grow to lets say 30?
Oct 7, 2012Hahaha I do the development on a mac, i'm a real-estate guy, and the 27" is perfect for multitasking ;pPosted in: Minecraft Mods
But yeah, I could add some install instructions might do it in the future, although i'm under the impression people know what to do by now when installing mods.

Can you add suport for underline, bold, ect Instead of a color for chat highlight or just allow you do customize the prefix are self, that would be great.
This might become available in a future version.
Skaro is right this mod does not allow this.
@ Skaro: LOL there used to be another link on there didn't it? ;p

I like what you have done with this modification.

This is such a good and useful mod! Just what I've been looking for!
Thanks guys!Quote from Bunkaz94
Is possible to add to this mod something like you choose the # of chat lines? Also longer/shorter fade time?
And a question: are all the options toggleable from the chat settings menu or will be aded in the future?
What do you mean by 'choose the # of lines' ?
The fading could probably be modified, I might look into this for a future version.
No atm the Custom settings screen allows only to two settings. I still have to update this but atm i'm quite pleased with just the config.
Use the config to enable/disable settings.Quote from cj_soviet
For people having trouble getting this to work with REI Minimap on 1.3.2, I found a combination that works. This also includes patching for HD textures.
1. Place the REI Minimap zip ([1.3.2]ReiMinimap_v3.2_05.zip) in your .minecraft/mods folder
2. Start MCPatcher (I used 2.4.2_03)
3. Add the VR ChatMod (VR-ChatMod-v0633.zip) to the top of the mod list using the mod>add dropdown at the top of the patcher, then run MC Patcher.
4. Open up your minecraft.jar with winRAR and add all the files from your ModLoader.zip into minecraft.jar
Thanks for that howtoQuote from acap41
Is there any chance you can upload the the previous versions of the mod? Or, if I'm blind, show me where they are already listed?
I'd like to use this mod with Tekkit, but tekkit is stuck in the dark ages of 1.2.5...
Thanks if you can do that, and if you cant, thanks anyways for making such an awesome mod.
Oh, and will we ever see some features that existed in the old BetterChat/ImprovedChat, or whatever that mod was called? Such as key bindings, variables, multiple chat tabs, etc?
EDIT: Found a version of ImprovedChat for 1.2.5, working with Tekkit, so the need for this no longer applies to me. I still think that would be a good idea, though.
I could add previous versions to the main post but the problem is that they might contain bugs or they might miss features because the features are not made backwards compatible.. Good that you found a solution in IC.

Love the mod and the functions it adds but I have one issue.
It is incompatible with Forge-ModLoader.
I installed it with FML (came with Forge) and then tried it and it refuses to work with Forge and FML, or either of the two. This irritates me as I go on servers alot and would like to have some of the functions of this working without having to remove all the mods I'm using at the current moment.
Is there a Forge compatible release?
I've had reports of this on one of the earlier versions. I know they are incompatible, I might check what files are conflicting and see if it can be solved.

Huh, works now, wonder whats up.
Oh well, I am using VR-Chatmods once again, and loving them, good work VRShiva!
Hmm let's hope it stays that way There are other reports from the previous version with some kind off null error but I have not been able to reproduce it. Seemed like that had to do with the opacity on the textfield..
Nice to see you are using the mod again!!
That's an interesting idea actually, I guess if my client were to crash before a log is created, then all that information would be lost?
Also, if line by line causes performance issues, might it be better to log at set time intervals, or every 10 lines or so?
Maybe that'd cause more problems in itself, I dunno
Yeah it might cause performance issues I havn't really tried it yet. And yeah an interval might be a viable solution if it does cause performance issues. If your client crashes right now it won't create a log. It's kind of at an experimental stage atm for the logging functionality

Any time a word is highlighted for some reason it says ull in front and it is underlines. If you need my config, I'll provide it.
I tried with only Vr-Chatmods to see if it was a mod conflict and it wasn't.
Yeah provide me the config, i'm interested to see what color you use might be that you use an old config? have you tried copying mine?
Think the 'ull' is actually 'null'.
