Ok I dont want to make a third thread about crystal so i'm just gonna post my improvement ideas here:
So new crystal item added to minecraft. This is how I would like to see it.
Crystal ore spawn in quite big veins like coal only under rivers biomes at all layers BUT more common at layers 0-30 it should be uncommon let's say like lapiz, yield 2-3 crystal items.
AND/OR spawn as stalagmites/stalagtites (maybe made of crystal blocks?) in big "wormhole caverns" that spawn under oceans biomes, could be flooded or not.
Crystal can make 4 things,
The crystal item: replace lapiz in enchantement tables, 9 of em in a crafting table make a crystal block. they can be enchanted to make an special "armor" + sword
Crystal block: is an opaque withe-ish/beige-ish block that could be use for beacon or smelted in a furnace to make crystal Glass
Crystal glass: is a completely (exept edges) transludent block, BUT its VERY fragile and insta-break if hit by any tool, or take a tiny bit longer when hit by anything else.
Armor is a hot-topic on the forums, but I think this could be nice.
When you use a potion of invisibility, your armor is NOT invisible... this is where crystal helps.
When a crystal item is enchanted on an enchantement table (but remember, we need 1 crystal to enchant no instead of lapiz) it have only 1 possible enchantement (let say it cost 2 level of xp), Invisibility, then, if you combine the Invisibility crystal and any piece of armor on an anvil (+Xp cost depending of armor piece and type) the armor get "invisibility enchant". the xp cost depend of the material (ex gold cost less, then diamonds etc).
But your armor is not alway invisible! (would be op) your armor is ONLY invisible when you are under invisibility effects.
There is more, alway invisible armor (even under effect) would be a bit op right? You could attack anyone and they couldn't see you at all. To counter this, as soon you take dammage, the crystal enchant "shatter" and your armor become visible again.
To break the crystal on: boots: User need to: walk over cacti, fire or lava. Or suffer small fall dammage. Leggings: Sink in lava, take heavy fire/cacti dammage (catch fire), take medium fall dammage or take medium hit from mobs/players Chestplate: Sink in lava, touch cacti/fire from side (upper part of body) (or catch fire) (not walk over), take any hit from mobs/player or suffocate under sand/gravel for a small time. Helmet: Have sand/gravel falls on you, get submerged in lava, touch fire/cacti with your head, take medium dammage from mobs/player.
All pieces will shatter if: you are submerget in lava, avil fall on you or if you recive enough explosion dammage. Sword: work exactly like the armor, exept it get visible when used to hit something.
So you could sneak on players but as soon you get hit, most of the crystal shatter. Your armor is not shattered (of course?) only the crystal surrounding it. if you take no dammage and invisibility expire, the crystal is not consumed. BUT it can shatter anytime even when not invisible, so you would only use it on armor before getting invisible.
This could be interesting, but i would like to see more about this ore, not just an ore that spawn everywhere, It sould be common, but spawn at precise spots. (underwater, crystal caverns in certain biomes etc)
