Why not use them to detect help mob types more accurately? Most mobs have different sized hitboxes, so you could use this to determine which mob is in the detection area.
I was thinking some form of upgraded Quesitum. You put in an artifact or knowledge repository (zombie brains, etc) and it extracts the info over time. However, the type of information is extracts can have effects on the aura. If it isb tainted, the aura becomes tainted as more and more tainted knowledge is researched. If it is eldritch, the area will become warped and twisted from knowledge that man was not ment a to know. I can't think of anything else right now.
I was thinking... Intelligence? Villagers are normally smart enough to do something like farming or trading, but when their brain cells die, they get dumber and dumber, and eventually just sit mutely and drool.
Villagers are terrified of certain substances. Why not add chemicals that induce fear?! A gaseous form, to pump into their houses, a liquid to mix into their drinks, and a solid to force-feed them! (Like the creepypasta.)
Also, scalding! If they get too hot, they will suffer burns!
If you give them too many emerals, the whole village gets gang-craped! And YOU get to take part in the "action!"

A soul harvester! Harvest your enemie's souls and eat them or burn them to release the screams of the tortutred villagers, now unable to die!
Guts. When you cut someone in a certain spot, guts fly out! Hearts (eatable and usable for sacrifices), livers, intestines, stomachs, etc.! And brains. Eatable brains.
I was thinking of some sort of naturally-generating structure. Well, more like three:
1. Ruined Thaumiturgical Laboratory. A ruined lab from years and years ago complete with broken arcane tools, magical slime coating the walls, and evil abominations made up of broken magicks and destroyed arcane experiments. Not a place for inexperienced players.
2. Ancient Thaumaturgical Lab. A lab for arcane tinkering and production of wonderous objects from the ancient times. It has some very old items and tools that look like Egytian artefacts. It also contains strange, ancient magical blocks that were used for ancient ceremonies. Found in desert biomes.
3. Magical Tomb. A tomb for a great thaumaturgist, built by his workers. Contains all sorts of magical goodies and general awesomeness left there by the thaumaturgist in question. However, to prevent you from getting at the treasures, there are many magical traps all around the tomb. In the center, of course, is the sarcophagus. You can open it to find discoveries and items from said deceased. However, his body might have been enchanted to attack...
