I have a request. Could people please stop asking modders to stop making texture packs?

No one's making you download a texture pack you don't like. But you might be discouraging someone from making a texture pack that I would enjoy. So stop it.

And you never know. The beginning modder who makes a boring texture pack today might get feedback and improve and make something that knocks your socks off tomorrow.

Wow. This is a great looking pack. I especially like your ores, dirt, sand, glass, cobblestone, logs, & furnace. I hope you'll do a mossy cobblestone that looks like the regular cobblestone with moss on it.

I look forward to seeing this released. Thanks!

Better Light is indispensable. It makes every texture pack look 10x better. Thank you so very much.

BetterLight makes performance drop - This is priority #1 at the moment, and there's lots I can do to fix this.

If you can pull off that performance boost, you will be a superhero.

That lightstone looks cool. It would be even better without the lighter-colored seam between blocks.

I did a similar thing using the scary-faced moon from Zelda: Majora's Mask. And like you said, the thing I like about it is that when it rises it looks all scary and sinister, and then toward the end of the night as dawn is approaching it dives head-down toward the horizon and looks more silly than scary, which fits well with the coming safety of dawn.

Your plans for the pack sound good. That whole process of getting textures to tile smoothly is black magic to me, but your cobblestone, mossy cobblestone and mud show that you definitely know how to do it. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Some really, really nice work here.

That mossy cobblestone is fantastic. Any chance you could do a regular (non-green) version of the same pattern that could be used for the regular cobblestone? Your cobblestone is pretty cool too, but I just love the pattern used in the mossy one. Oh, and it doesn't quite tile cleanly at the top/bottom edge -- there is a bit of a visible seam. If you fixed that it would be perfect.

Your bedrock looks really cool. And all your nether textures are great, especially the mud.

I like the feel of your smooth stone (and I think it has great potential for adding ores), but I think it would look a lot better if there weren't such a visible grid where the blocks come together. That's my main criticism of your pack in general. The grass, smooth stone, and light block all have very artificial-looking seams where the blocks meet. The dirt and netherstone are better, but also could fit together a bit more smoothly. The bedrock has it too, but it looks really cool so there it's more of a stylistic choice. It's possible you could make the edges fit together a little better but keep the highlight in the center of each block.

The shading on your wood textures (especially the door) is cool. I'm not a fan of the wood block textures with the perpendicular edges, but a lot of packs do that so I guess some people like it. Your stylistic choice. Nice chest. I like how the glass block frames match the wood door.

Again, some really impressive artwork here. And I can only applaud anyone who wants to take JohnSmith's pack as an inspiration and jumping off point. I'm really looking forward to seeing you finish this. Thanks so much for your hard work and for sharing it with us.

I love how this (and it's precursor the Solid Style pack) looks outdoors, but underground, the solid stone color makes the default Minecraft step-wise lighting really stand out as artificial, and even worse I found that having all the stone blocks looking like separate shades of gray depending on how well lit they were really messed with my sense of direction and I kept getting confused about where I was and where I'd been.

I'll have to retry this if I start playing with the better-light mod.

Thanks for making and sharing this. I wonder if you might consider doing something with the ores so they fit the solid theme better? Not sure what. Maybe a single square of color in the middle of the stone block?

And for those of you that would like to use the world shown in these awsome pictures, here is a download.

Will that savegame work in an unmodded Minecraft? Or do you need to have the BiomeTerrain mod running for the saved game to generate the same world shown in the pictures?

    posted a message on Misa's Realistic Texture Pack - 1.19+ UPDATED 1 DEC 2022!
Misa, if you're looking for further ideas for updating your pack, maybe you'd be interested in doing some alternate painting textures that are home furnishings and other details (larger bookshelves, cabinets, tapestries, curtains, vents, wallpaper, wood panels, etc.) instead of actual paintings.

Painterly and JohnSmith have done some of these, but I don't think anyone's done any in higher resolution than 32x32. And you might think of some ideas for home detailing that no one else has thought of yet.

I LOVE it. My only problem with it is one, Coal just doesn't seem right to me...idk why. But that's just me. And two the reflection lines on the glass. Those always drove me nuts. :\ If it Isn't too much to ask could you at least move them away so they aren't in the middle of the glass?

With a free image editing program like paint.net or gimp it's really easy to just delete that stuff and make a completely clear block of grass.

But be warned, once you start mixing and matching and tweaking textures on your own, it's hard to stop.

posted a message on Texture request - more crystaline lightstone
Thanks again, Fr4m3. I'll give that orange one a try. I'm pretty happy with this texture, I think if there's anything I'd change it would be how the dark bits are all at the edges, so that the individual squares stand apart instead of flowing together as much as they might if it looked more like there was a more defined bit of crystal or something where the corners come together.

(Oh and, also thanks for pointing out Shiny's texture pack -- I'd somehow passed over that one, maybe because his screenshots don't show how cool his stone and dirt textures are.)

I'd say those ores are your best yet. This is such a great texture pack, including my favorite 16x16 stone, cobblestone, dirt, grass, sand, snow, ice -- all of your "natural" textures look great and work together so well.

    Those are cool torches too.

That last one (the one that starts a new column in the set of textures you posted) is quite close to my original vision. For a 32x32 texture, that does an impressive job of looking both crystaline and like it's glowing, and even a little crunchy--like something that might shatter into dust and shards if you hit it--all the while tiling well with itself. Great job. I might play with tweaking the contrast a little or maybe bumping the color a hair toward the orange, but I may just want to leave it as it is. Unless you have another idea for a revision (which I'd happy to see).

Thank you so much for working on the texture and sharing it. I hope to see more artwork from you for Minecraft. Time to farm the Nether for more lightstone for my castle!

Fr4m3, I think something like this is the closest to what I'm thinking of, except lit from within instead of reflecting light. Sharp-edged crystals, probably big ones, just a few-per block so they're recognizable at 32x32.
