Dec 21, 2012Thank y'all so much, I really don't want to make up my financial numbers up. Can anybody give me their guess of what could be made with a $25K investment in one year? I know i'm far off but i said $30kPosted in: Hosting Requests

As you can see OP, you've opened a can of worms
I can see that now!

From what I've seen you have a pretty large idea, but what I didn't see is advertisement costs. If you spend majority of you 25k on servers. What's left to advertise that $16k, plus you'd be sitting on them with little to no profit. You should start small and work your way up. If you don't need 8 $2,000 servers off the bat, you really shouldn't buy them. Start with 2-3 unless of course you'd be renting out whole servers, then that's understandable. Otherwise you're wasting a lot of money from my point of view.
Very Valid Point, So let's update then, Lets say i buy 4-5 blade servers, Rent a place near downtown Dallas/Houston and go with a Business plan from one of the ISP's. What would i be looking at in terms of cost for Internet? I'm not Concerned to much with advertising because if i'm doing this "full-time" I can use Publicity and speak directly with potential customers, not saying i'm not going to advertise!)
But the budget does not need to be astronomical. Another Big thing for me is setting up a new standard for selling a service. Most of you charge by ram which is misleading to a lot of people because they think the higher the ram the better the server. Now yes the server will be "better" but your minecraft experience won't be better if you don't have things like high bandwidth, SSD, and a good port speed. Since I am asking for an Investment, I'm going to own the hardware. So say i get all of this done, what could i make with 5 servers running at 50-75% capacity in one year (remember i'm not renting)
Also forgot to mention, I would sell Servers in two diffrent groups one would be normal hosting for Novice users and for people more advanced i would offer total-access packages, those being VPS's Sorry if this sounds incredibly stupid but If it's plausible that's what i'd doAlso thanks for the responses! I'm writing a three page document over this and I want to gather all the information i can!

I would recommend renting servers, as purchasing and collocating would not bring as much profit as owning hardware. I'm sure a few people who do own their network and hardware will disagree, but it's true. Just curious though, what made you want to do this? A few weeks ago you were asking for free servers.
I've never asked for a free server? I'm interested in learning about what i'm paying for so I decided to make a "company"
Dec 10, 2012So i know this is technically not the right place to post this but due to a lack of other options i'll post here.Posted in: Hosting Requests
I'm doing a project for DECA and I need some information on hosting. The information is strictly for the project.
The way my project works is kinda like the show Shark Tank. I have Twenty minutes to explain my business and prove that my "Business" is worth investing in. For my project i'm asking for $25k in exchange for %20 equity. Now that that's out of the way I need to gather the following information.
With $25k, I would buy 8 Servers and use the rest of the funds for website dev, control panel, Internet.
How much money could i make in one year with 8 ($2000 Dell Servers) with 75% of all the servers being used and %100. I'm open to learning about the variables of server hosting but the financial info is important.
Also if you don't mind disclosing the information, How much has your company made in it's first year.
If you don't want other hosters to see feel free to message me.
Thanks for your time and any information about the server hosting business is appreciated!
Dec 7, 2012UnityServers posted a message on *20% OFF!* Mineocity Hosting | US & Europe Locations | DDoS Protection | Owned Hardware | 40000+ Hosted | One-Click ModpacksGreat Company! I had no problems, they reviewed my questions fairly quick and not interruptions in service. I'd definitely recommend this to a friend.Posted in: Minecraft Server Hosting

"We really want to bring together a sense of community on a server, making a place where anyone can build something interesting. We're all fans of towns, group builds, group complexes, etc. We really love places where people can come together to collaborate creatively."
Check out this post, Basic Craft Everything you asked for is in our post, not to mention we also have the added bonus of being Adult only!
Also to answer your question, the only thing i want out of this server is to build a strong community because thats what makes a server last. The 3 things my server strives to achive is
- A Storng Community (we use Teanspeak and have Towns to help achive this goal)
- A fair Server (No one gets creative or flying ability not even donators (they do get some perks) Everyone is equal)
- Originality (We want to be our own server not another copy cat)
About the Community: We are really Diverse with the Average age being around 27, We have players from around the world so you really get to learn about other cultures and also you get to hear a fun accent haha. We have about 10 players on all the time and we have about 4 mayors. We really mix things up on the server and it's fun to see how things turn out. We've seen everything from 256 block tall cobblestone valcanos to a remake of the acropolis that rivals the real thing. So your Carnival would fit in nicely!
