Oh, of course. I forgot that minecraft has to be the absolute opposite of reality, otherwise it'll only appeal to architects and engineers, and really, who cares about them?
Please forgive me.
Nobody said anything about the exact opposite. I just didn't want to add 2 more materials that would have no other use. I'm sorry if I offended you. Architecture and engineering should be encouraged not thrown a side.
Make the first post more attractive, add images and stuff:
There are many suggestions that are a new metal and tier. This is not another of those. Copper is used for different stuff.
Copper Ore:
It is found in the same levels as iron, but less common. Copper is mined with a stone pickaxe or better. It can be smelted into a copper ingot. The ore is reddish/orange.
Copper Block:
Crafted with 9 copper blocks, it is a orange-er version of metal blocks.
However, if the block comes in contact with fire or lava, it becomes a heated copper block, which damages mobs that stand on it (a heart per second). The heated copper block is brighter. If the heat source is no longer present, the block reverts to a normal block. However, if the block is contact with water and lava/fire at the same time, nothing happens. The coper block cannot catch fire.
There are already netherrack/cactus fences.
It adds another option. Netherrack fire fences put the mob on fire. Heated copper blocks don't. Cactus can grow 3 block high, while making a 3 block high heated copper wall would be hard due to the heat reqeuirement. A possibility to bypass this would be making vertical lava flow, but lava can burn nearby blocks if you're not careful enough.
If a copper block is placed next to water (also no fire/lava next to it), it becomes a copper block with patin after a while. It is the greenish tarnish copper develops over time (the Statue of Liberty is an example). It can be mined with a stone pickaxe and get the green copper which can be placed decoratively anywhere. It doesn't revert to normal copper block and it can't become heated. To restore it to normal copper, put it in the crafting grid anywhere. This block is for decoration.
Telescope:
When used, the telescope will zoom in.Normally around 100-400 meters. In addition, if use low or tiny rendering, it will let you see past the fog a little, just for the short period of time you would use the telescope. It can be used anywhere. Also, you can place and mount it like a block. It requires no tools to break.
You can put a telescope and a bow together to create a scope bow. You can zoom in with the bow, but not shoot (so it doesn't look like a modern gun game). Trying to shoot would take away the zoom. This is just to relieve the hassle of switching items.
Pipes:
Pipes transport water and lava. While using pipes , water and lava can move horizontally indefinetly. However, a pipe with lava will glow like the heated copper block. If a pipe carrying water is in contact with another carrying lava, the pipe will destroy and make a cobblestone/obsidian block. Fluids will flow away from their source and downwards.
Pipes can turn in any direction. Water and lava flows faster (more pressure). It can also fill cauldrons. However, fluids cannot flow up vertically. This is done by the pump block. It is crafted by placing a redstone torch + copper block + piston in order. The pump moves vertically indefinetly, but slower. If a pump block pumps horizontally, water/lava faster. The pump can be turned on and off with redstone. If a pump is placed agaisnt the fluid flow, water/lava won't flow.
There is also a way to control the flow. The pipe with valve is crafted by putting a pipe and a lever together. It can be turned on and off manually or with redstone.
Plated Boats:
The copper-plated boat is a wooden boat reinforced with copper. It cannot be destroyed by crashing it, but it moves slower than the normal one. Copper is used because iron rusts.
Other:
-Copper blocks can be used for making the beacon pyramid and act as usual if heated.
-If a heated copper block is next to an anvil, the anvil takes less damage when using it. The Anvil doesn't need to be hit as hard if the item is already hot to strike. Optional.
I'm going to add images, I just have to wait for something.
Going back to the OP, I don't really see a use for this, and, may I say this just to prove a point.
Tekkit has this. Tekkit is a collection of Mods. This is already in a mod.
Hah, that's a good one. As if vertical redstone, waterworks, scoped bows, telescopes, an aesthetic copper ore, heated copper blocks and strong boats isn't much use. It's much more useful then even gold! Oh, and there is mod for anything. Not a valid excuse.
I really like this idea and I think that the texture used should be similar to the IC2 copper ore but with a slightly brighter ore same for the block. And I propose a crossbow instead of a scoped bow which I do agree sounds a bit silly. The crossbow would basically be a bow in the middle with iron on its positive slope diagonal( math geeks translate this to the public I'm tired:P) then a plank behind it and a copper scope in front on its negative slope diagonal. This would basically be a bow but have less decline from drag and require a loading click and hold and then a single click to fire. It would have a sound similar to a bow but slightly muted and with a little click with the trigger. I know this seems like a topic of its own which I may do but for now I'm keeping it in the essence of copper use in other things.

That is a possibilty, however it does need it's own
While it is true that for games Gameplay > Realism, we need to remember to stick to the game's own logic. No where does it say in the game that ingots are a good place to store XP. The job is already half-implemented by bottles o'enchanting. (Except you are buying XP, not storing it.) Why not make use of already implemented stuff?
I remember this from a couple of months. Took a little bit, but at least it didn't take as long as the ssswariorcats on Youtube. I waited a couple of years for that! Still, both are good shows.

Wow, Pheonix3270, quite the vague critic are you?
Anyways, it seems interesting, but it's too dangerous. Unfortunately, I have to say this would be better for a mod. However, it would be a fun mod.

In real life this would be true, but in minecraft, we don't need to be completely realistic.

Going to get that fixed, thanks!

True, but some people are saying no to this stuff. Any ideas for making this post get more replies other then from you and me Muenzen?
Achievement Get! Support from a good critic!
