Sep 18, 2014UltimateFanBoy posted a message on [Official] Microsoft has Bought Mojang and a message from Notch.Posted in: NewsKeep in mind that Microsoft isn't EA. EA is the one that orders developers to cut features in favor of DLC, enforces a strict time limit, and sometimes even orders developers to completely trash an alpha just so that they can rebuild it to have an E rating so that they could rake in extra cash from kids. (A.K.A what happened to spore). They do whatever they want, because their fanbase always comes back and buys another game, even though they anger and betray them every release.
Microsoft already knows that they can't get away with betraying their fanbase, as seen with the colossal marketing failure of Windows 8/8.1. They aren't going to purposely remove features from non Microsoft platforms. If they did, the response from players would be catastrophic. Minecrafts fanbase isn't a pushover, people would simply stop playing the game. Thus there would be reduced recommendations to friends, and way less sales.
Also, the game is still being developed by the Mojangsta's. Just because Mojang is owned by another company doesn't mean that all future games or updates will suddenly become horrible. EA is pretty much the only company that has the power to do that (and not lose massive amounts of money afterwards)
They bought THE GAME. Not Mojang. -

Sep 15, 2014UltimateFanBoy posted a message on [Official] Microsoft has Bought Mojang and a message from Notch.Posted in: NewsHonestly I'm surprised it lasted this long. There has been a lot of work done by Mojang on Minecraft, and being a non-subscription sandbox game there is only so much money you can squeeze out of it. I'm amazed Microsoft bought it for so much. If they don't do something to generate additional revenue (i.e. shutdown the auth servers and release a sequel, offer DLC, charge subscrition, etc....) then I will be really surprised.
I know some are trying to be optimistic about this, but you have to be really naive to think Microsoft isn't going to change something to generate more $$. I guarantee...if you want to continue to play this game....you will have to shell out some money. 2.5b is a lot of money to recoup.
*sigh* -

I've got many problems regarding the extraneous details (What exactly defines the swamps as being too large? And how can a sandbox game be played a different way than the developers intended?", but I'll just cut to the chase:
This idea is pretty ridiculous in my opinion. By once, I assume you mean "one vein in every slime chunk". That gives out about 9-27 slimeballs in a single slime chunk. That amount alone would make slimes completely pointless, since at most you'd get only 2 per tiny slime, which means you'd get at most 8 from the mob they originally come from.
I'd say add something to the debug/F3 menu to indicate if you've found a slime chunk or not instead. That way they're easier to find overall without using external programs, and yet they stay the rare commodity they've become.

-Both monsters can specifically climb ladders and avoid "obvious" traps (having a TNT block in plain sight wouldn't work for example, but one that got triggered by a pressure plate would still be effective.), if they allow a closer distance to players (zombies) or a better shot at players (skeletons)
-Skeletons don't fire as soon as possible when shooting a bow. Instead they wait a few seconds to make sure they don't hit something else besides their target.
These AI tweaks would only happen in the Normal and Hard difficulties. Easy would remain the same.
That's all I can think of for now. I'll add more if I feel it's necessary.

It's Ok.

And yet you said this was a bad idea BECAUSE of it's style. You're being a hypocrite.
Why should I complicate it? I looked at it, was indifferent, and went, "meh". There's also being TOO descriptive. The ones I felt any response were the other ones. That's it.
I don't need to read that thread, thank you very much. Not the other ones, either.

I'm honestly not too worried. Feel free to ignore me.

Oh, alright.

I thought only skeletons were changed in 1.9. What else is changed for hostile mobs?
And what do you think about the ladder and trapdoor suggestions?
1
Well, they are zombies. They kind of were until recent years. I get your point, though.

SUPPORT. This is very well made!

So I was testing out the 1.9 snapshot(s), and I saw some pretty dumb things about villagers, which turned out to extend to all mobs.
I suggest that all mobs with arms should be able to climb ladders and open trapdoors, and mobs in general should have better pathfinding.
The first is simple: Allow mobs with arms to climb ladders and open trapdoors.
If this makes it too hard, then either exclude this from Easy difficulty or limit it to Villagers on Easy.
The last one is a bit complicated.
I was burning down a village in creative (I was testing dual wielding, so that makes it ok... ._.), and a zombie was chasing a villager. There was a crater and a large opening in the hut. The villager went through the door, and...the zombie was stuck. It tried to break the door, despite that he could get out of the house and cut the villager off. I just broke the door.
So, long story short: better pathfinding.

Last 3 were meh. Adding the Medieval section's ideas alone would better, IMHO.

Unironically, yes.
I'll grab my coat.

Dude. It's a vanity item. It won't boost attack or defense.
