I AM THE ALL MIGHTY **** LORD. BEWARE MY SPIDER-RIDING SKELETON MINIONS.
Do I sense an alternate mob texture in the making? :wink.gif:
"Whats that...an Enderman? Can't be, it's brown.. Oh my god, Run!"
Anyways, just wanted to pass along my thanks for your work on the pack, Frenden. Took a break away from minecraft for a while and when I decided to come back into the fold it was good to see my all time fave texture pack is still alive and kicking.
I might make everything in 32px resolution. After seeing how crappy it is to install packs officially on Mac, I may as well run patchers and the like. So, I'd be making/supporting both. Same content/style, just one would take advantage of twice the surface area for description.
Music to my ears. I was having real issues in my attempts to make a recognizable leather jacket for my "Gamma World meets Looney Tunes" Frenden/Mo'Creatures/Humans+ re-skin at the current resolution and was considering upscaling the pack myself. Now I can just let you do most of the work. :wink.gif:
Damn... Why don't people get it that variation and choice are good? I'm still waiting for someone to come and comment on my pack, telling me it's "messy and has too much pixels all over!!!!111". It didn't happen yet, but I'm damn sure it will.
I was trying to get that across in my first response to him.. Heck, I have Glimmar's Steampunk pack, Eld's pack, and the Gerdoku pack on a somewhat regular rotation in my gameplay. It's just none make me smile quite like Frenden's pack. I'm always on the lookout for new packs to check out.
Mruqe, I really enjoyed your pack, it would probably be added to the rotation if not for Eld's pack already "scratching that itch" of a 16x Fantasy/RPG pack.
Oh Frenden, remember that 50's horror pack you were contemplating a while back? Have you checked out Mo'Creatures lately? We got ourselves werewolves in the game now. *nudge, nudge* :wink.gif:
uhh dude your pack has HORROROFYING GRAPHICS!!!!!!!!!!
Opinions on graphics are a very subjective thing, luckily we have many packs to choose from, so most if not everyone can find something to make them happy. Maybe this pack just isn't for you?

It looks like a 1952 version of mnecraft! you really should improve the graphics..............
Which is actually the reason I love it, just like I loved the "retro" cartoon revival. Reminds me of a time when I was a kid watching cartoons... and also appeals to my artistic side that can appreciate communicating something somewhat complex with the fewest "lines" possible. It's something I've always strived for in my analog art and wished I could master in the digital form as well as Frenden seems to have done. I only hope his interest hangs on so we can see more of his work making its way to us in game.
Wasn't sure if this would be wanted here, as its not free. Not only is it not free, it's a bit on the pricey side for the extreme niche market its aimed at. I picked it up years back when working on a platformer and now if I ever need to push pixels at the low level its my "go to" app on the pc, even over photoshop.
I absolutely love the palette tools, and even owning Photoshop, Painter, Sketchbook, MangaStudio.. and so on. If I'm working low res, or with a restricted color palette, I go to Pro Motion.
Nice selection of video tutorials on the site : http://www.cosmigo.com/promotion/index.php?Documentation/Video+Tutorials , used to be a lot more non-app specific tutorials there if I remember correctly. I' sure if you browse the popular spriting forum/communities you'll find a lot of useful info. I'll have to dig through my old bookmarks for some more links later and post them.
Ah - I thought it WAS 64x64! I'll fix that tomorrow. Thanks!
No problem, I honestly thought the problem was caused by me tinkering with the textures and borking something along the way... or Minecraft was trying to tell me something about putting pompadours on your zombies. :smile.gif: When I noticed others posting about similar issues, I figured I'd check it out.
While I never had the crashing, I did have extreme sluggishness in the mod/texture selection screen whenever I had the pack in there the past few revisions. As I wasn't getting any Icon for the pack not even the b/w default for a pack with no image, I figured something was up with the icon. Removing the pack.png cleared it up. Not being happy with that, I tried loading and just resaving the image in promotion and re-inserting it in the pack and still no image and lag. Then tried resizing the pack.png and that did the trick. Kicking it down to 64x64 worked like a charm for me.
No more response lag and I get to see Frenden's nifty icon. :smile.gif:
Edit: My hunch was right, 128x128 will work also. So no need to lose any image quality. Need to watch those multiples, Frenden. :wink.gif:
I was looking through old pieces of mine. I came across this werewolf self portrait. It sorta makes me want to do a retro '50s horror pack. That's my passion. But is there any public interest? I'd hate to do it if no one would use it.
Think formica and '57s chevys and zombies.
Let me just say, oh hell ya!
Also, major thanks for this texture pack. Frenden's v5 + MrMMods Better Light & Better Grass + BiomeTerrainMod + Eroded Monsoonal Plains Biome settings = total epic awesome. :smile.gif:
Even got me to re-installing Cosmigo's Promotion to try my hand at spriting again, need to get Mo'Creatures added to that epic awesome equation. :smile.gif:
