Here's what I discovered... If you use MS Paint in any way, it will not save transparency. For a helmet layer to apply it needs at least one pixel of transparency, and MS Paint replaces all transparency with white, and it breaks the texture. If you've made any edits or even opened the file with Paint or any other editor that removes transparency, it will break.
There might be another problem, but this is what fixed it for me.
Hello everyone! I've had a "public" server running for about a month now. I say "public" because anyone could get to it, but I'm very selective about who knows the IP address.
I would like to make it truly public though... And before I do so, I wanted to understand the security risks, if there are any. Here's what I have done:
My server is hosted on a home desktop which is connected by cable (not wireless) through a linksys router, along with several other computers on a LAN. I have a port forwarded for the server (25565, because I'm boring) and I can join the server both through LAN and WAN.
Otherwise, I'm doing nothing except booting up the servesoft and telling my friends to join. That's it.
So here is what I'm wondering:
If I were to indiscriminately give out the IP, are there any security risks? Could the information on my desktop or on the other computers on my LAN be compromised through my minecraft server and/or it's forwarded port? Could the information on the computers of other players be compromised?
If the answer to any of the above is "yes":
What do?

That is exactly what I needed to know.
