posted a message on Best way to utilize zombie spawners?

I'll have to study it again when I get a few free minutes, but I'm pretty sure two of the dungeons are back to back, and the third is 10 blocks away or less. I've never seen so many so close together. I think all three would be active if I stand in a central location

posted a message on Best way to utilize zombie spawners?

Hey guys, I stumbled upon three spawner dungeons within spitting distance of each other, and I'm not sure what to do with them. I could do an XP farm, but enchantments are pretty low on my list of priorities. Another option is a mob drop farm/item collector and sorter (how many chests would I need). My third option is a zombie sorter to convert zombie villagers (I'm working on a custom village in my world). I suppose the best option is to combine all three together.

I'm thinking water elevator to the zombie sorting chamber, where the villagers will be in a holding cell of sorts, and the baddies will drop to where they can be killed with a single hit, while the drops taken to a sorter nearby. Good idea or too much hassle?

So after joining the Emeralds and taking time to get acquainted with other members and the map itself, I must say, I love it! Everyone's friendly, the world isn't overcrowded with pixel art and terrible buildings (dirt house anyone?). Oh, and I also like the fact that there is a separate farm world, so the regular world's terrain doesn't get messed up. My favorite thing of all though? the ingame chat is relatively quiet, no one is spamming it with "give me this, give me that" or the repetitive comments about particular body parts... If I could have one gripe, is when mobs don't take damage (supposedly because of lag). Guess I need to hone my archery skills and kill from a distance..

How did you find us?: I saw the link on the Minecraftforum homepage, under the "active topics" section.
What features attracted you to this server?: Non-PVP, chest protection, and anti-griefing measures. Oh yeah, I also like the timber mod (I hate seeing floating trees all the time)
Any suggestions based upon your first impressions?: Give me mod status and a full set of diamond armor! Of course I'm just kidding, I hate seeing ingame chat of people begging for stuff like that. I haven't actually visited the server yet.
What command should be used if you need to report griefing or need help?: /modreq
Anything else we should know about you?: Being a full-time employee with a wife and baby on the way, I won't be able to commit a lot of time to the server (I've seen some servers that require a certain amount of time spent on it each week by a player.). When i'm on a server, I usually start off building a small house of my own away from everything else, then offer to help others with major projects. Honestly, I'm not very intuitive when it comes to building nice things, so I go off of what others have built, but try not to make it an exact copy.

I have to admit that I'm a little confused about the new snapshot (mostly the previous one). With the server/client deal.. Does this mean that the guys are working on a way to play MP without setting up a server? Or am I completely misunderstood? If that IS what is happening, that's gonna be awesome. I've been wanting to get setup with a private server so my little cousin and I can play together without having him banned from most of the current servers for griefing.

Is the EC still on 1.0? I just tried logging in and it gave me an "outdated server". I haven't been around for a while and was just wanting to check out what was going on these days

no one ever said you had to play minecraft religiously.. just find another game to play, or better yet, go outside and find something to do.

i never thought a desert town could look so nice! how did you clear the land and make the surrounding terrain look so natural (except the plains/forest in the background)?

I really like the sand/sandstone square patterns

anyone think of this? wood redstone (or compass, or whatever) pickaxe can only detect nearby coal, stone can only detect iron, iron to gold, so on and so forth.

are there fish included in that underwater reef mod? I can't remember the name, but I remember you have to craft a diving suit and fill an airtank with oxygen, then you can explore underwater and see different colored corals and stuff.

I've been thinking and I would like to build an aquarium with fish in it (anything but the hideous squid)

posted a message on poo mod
This mod idea is directed towards peaceful mode players. Since there are plenty of animals (and since sheep now eat grass, and the grass has to go "somewhere"), this mod would allow animals to leave droppings behind, and the player will follow around gathering them up to use as fertilizer (instead of bonemeal). Another use would be to use the poo to make TNT (same as regular TNT that uses gunpowder but poo instead), ya know, a fertilizer bomb.

That's about all I have to offer. I'm not sure if there would be any other uses for a stack of poo, unless you're on a server and everyone is using monkey skins, and you want to fling it at each other...

Hope y'all enjoy my weird sense of humor and hopefully a modder will want to take this into consideration!

posted a message on What are your strange Minecraft habits?
If I see dirt stacked two high, I clear out the top one so there's always a gentle slope.. I use better grass, and want the whole landscape to be green...

I have to have perfect symmetry or I just feel inadequate

I randomly punch animals just to watch them run in circles

On MP, I tend to stare at other players like some kind of creep

I avoid swamps and deserts at all costs, they're just fugly

Usually my immediate plan of action is to mine to bedrock and search for diamonds, although I haven't seen a single one since 1.0, so I've quit that.

I work on a build project for about 30 minutes and abandon it and delete the world because I don't like the landscape

All houses I build have to be next to water so I can get fish as my main food source

I tend to mine into lava and spazz out before I can back away from it, causing me to burn to death.

I can't play the millenaire mod without TMI, because I want to build the village as quickly as possible, then abandon it like my other projects I mentioned earlier..

All this being said, I do have one project in progress that I've had for at least a week. I'm actually wanting to work on it and eventually complete it
