Notch stated that the achievements were going to be fun things like "ride a pig off a cliff". I guess getting killed by gravel works too in this category. Most of the achievements you stated sound like total chores. Mine 1000 stone? That would sure happen over time, but it doesn't sound very fun.
I like this idea, but considering how minecraft days are about 8 minutes, on hardcore/hard/macho mode you would have to eat almost CONSTANTLY. I can be building something and have it take a whole game night and not even really realize that a full 8 minutes have passed. I feel like most players wouldn't like this option very much, it would make exploring caves REALLY hard to do (you can be lost/stuck in a cave system for game days on end). I like the idea, but you have to realize how stupid it sounds when you think about it. You are trying to make minecraft... *DRAMATIC PAUSE* realistic. Overall I like the idea, but i feel too many people would dislike it and get angry 'cuz Deire gayme iz h4rd.'
Hello, I am a forum noob. No stupid intorductions here, just a simple game machanic that would add more depth to an already great game: Backpacks.
I was talking with my buddies a little while ago, and we came up with this idea for a back-pack item in minecraft. It would take up the slot for your chestplate, but give you double the item space. I assume it could be crafted fairly easily, something like this:
Let's assume that is cloth, and ]" title="-<->" /> is string. []
This would create a cloth chest, absolutly useless for anything else except making backpacks (like paper, in a sense)
You would then place that in the middle of the crafting bench: ( = cloth chest)

If you have any improvements to this idea, feel free to share them. I hope this is something that eventually works it's way into the game.
