posted a message on [Surv/Adv] Horizon City - Zombie Apocalypse (Final Demo released)
This map caught my eye because I'm currently working on a map like, but a medieval version. I went to look for a map to give me inspiration and found this one. I must say, although I am very low in progression on my map, this map is far better than mine will ever be. What follows is my review of the Test_World map.

    Review of Test_World map:

At the spawn, the signs were very explanatory, they told me exactly what I need to do very clearly. I played the map with the tools it was designed for, as it said on he signs. I think the building had an excellent look, it looked just as it should, post-apocalyptic. I can honestly say that this DEMO building didn't take me very long to complete, but I can understand that because it's just one building and I assume there will be hundreds in the full version. It was still over all a great and addictive challenge. I think the spawners were cleverly hidden (I realized that they look exactly the same as the cobblestone) and the layout made for a dangerous map with great combat that you can't find anywhere else. I am all for unique combat because in my eyes the combat in Minecraft is kind of boring, so when I'm looking for maps or making maps I always think about how I want to have interesting battlefields and challenges. An example of clever of combat and layouts that I found is, at one point I was next to a spot with an open wall that was easy to fall out of, and a spider jumped on me from a dark spot above me as if he was trying to push me out! Luckily this didn't happen but it could have and I would love to see more places in the full game where you are put in great surprising situations like that. I also like that in this map you are never really safe. There are no safe places to go for salvation, you have to make one yourself. I couldn't find many flaws that I can mention here but I guess I should mention the difficulties of making it a completely safe building by stopping the spawners. I completed the map by finding the two chests but I didn't shut down all the spawners like on of the challenges says, this is because if the spawners blend in with the building you can't really know exactly where all the spawners that you need to light up are! I don't recommend making that a challenge for too many buildings in the full game because the only way to do that is to light up the whole building which takes a while and it isn't very fun. What I plan on doing in the full version is going to a small building and just lighting that up and make it my sort of 'base' base it takes far too long to do that in a big building. I hope this message is helpful to you.

Thanks for taking your time to read this :smile.gif:
