Awesome map! Me and my brother just spent like 6 hours playing it and it was a lot of fun. I have to say though, your jokes in Escape were pretty bad. Not evil bad, just bad. ;) Thanks!

posted a message on What do you think of Minecraft shadows?
I'd like to hear your opinion on what you think of shadows in Minecraft being the little dark circles that they are.

I started thinking about this when I noticed a bug while playing in the most recent release (1.6.2) and it reminded me how boring shadows of players and items look.
First, some pictures of the bug for those curious:

Now, my thoughts on the current shadows. But please, state your own opinion without bashing on the opinions of others.

I think the shadows look fine as they are. But I do feel that changing them would enhance the look of the game a lot. It also might cause performance issues, but that's besides the point. Personally, I kinda think it looks funny when you are playing with Smooth Lighting and you see this smooth and pretty shadow on a block, then if you go and stand where that shadow is it looks really cheesy. There are also, of course, shaders mods for those who really like the look of these shadows. Another thing that I think would really be improved by shadows like we see in shaders. Caving. Imagine putting a torch down and seeing your big shadow on the wall that you're standing by, then looking around a corner that is pitch black because the light is blocked... It would be a very cool experience.

Thanks for reading, please share your thoughts. :)

It's not that big of a deal. Just a benefit to SMP in my opinion. I used to logout when I was almost dead and just have my friends tell me when it turned day.

Very nice idea! I'll try and get a group together to play this with and get you feedback. I think I can get enough people together for a 3v3. :D

Ok, getting just a little mad here, because Jeb ALREADY posted a PICTURE of him on a horse IN MINECRAFT. On his instagram @jebkhaile.

posted a message on Is there too much of ores?
Honestly, I don't think they've changed the amount of ore there is. You are just better at finding it now. I've noticed that with a lot of people, even myself. I've been playing since early Alpha, and things have definitely changed. One thing that has changed more specifically is it all seems easier... But that might not be true. Maybe I'm just more experienced now.

Why do you care? Just because they're adding horses doesn't mean they're forcing you to use them.

    You're missing the point.

posted a message on Survival Mode With an Inventory Editor VS Creative Mode
Creative didn't ruin the game. Why? Because it didn't change anything to do with Survival. Survival and Creative are separate things for a reason.

Did we use INV editors before there was Creative? Well I've been playing since early Alpha, and I did in fact use the original INVEdit to test things. But I never cheated if that's what you're asking. This is a dead-end topic.

All the recent updates have been okay... Redstone update was huuuge and game changing making things get even more technical, and I personally think that's the furthest they should stretch. I think they should be done with Survival updates for a while, and instead they should add on to customization of the creative side of Minecraft. For example, allowing us to customize what blocks are breakable in Adventure maps and giving us more possibilities with Command Blocks... And Minecraft Realms seems like a great idea as well.

I don't think they're adding Horses. They made it look like it here, and I may be wrong, but I think they're attempting to fool us once again. I also hope they don't add Horses, because it's simply NOT Minecraft. It just doesn't fit. Riding a Pig? Perfect. We don't need any more than that.

The Tinted Glass is also a fantastic idea. All that would be is a recoloring of an already in-the-game block, just like they did with wool. It won't break anything.

I'm just a little scared. Think about how Counter-Strike works... They worked on that game until 1.6 where it was finally claimed 'perfect'. After that they left it there. Because adding something, tweaking something, buffing something, nerfing something, ANYTHING, could imbalance the game and take it from its perfect state.

Here are some things that I personally think they should do to change Survival without ruining Survival.
Firstly, new game mode. Things must be harder. I really liked the idea of a Super Hostile Game Mode that REALLY makes things hard:
The mobs won't do any more damage than Hard Difficulty, but there will be much more of them and a much higher chance for them to have armor. They will spawn randomly, even sometimes in daylight and they also often spawn in groups that are like 'tribes' or 'packs'. Food is scarce, and other resources won't be found often either. You will not find ANY ores underground unless you look in specific locations such as Abandoned Mineshafts and maybe some newly added Abandoned Mines that can be rarely found at the surface. Things die over time. If you're lucky enough to spawn with animals near by for food, your farm will require more than just putting some cows in a pin. You will need to feed them over time or they will get sick. Farming is much harder. Many crops will end up rotten after all the time you've spent waiting for them to grow, and they will only grow efficiently without fertilizer in certain biomes/locations.

There are many 'suggestions' for Minecraft that are far fetched. You go on the Suggestion Forums and see people introducing entirely new ores and mobs and things that would change Minecraft in a way that many people wouldn't like. One of those things is Horses. Mojang needs to be smart about not letting the things that create ruin what they have already finished, because we like what Minecraft is now.

    Mojang, please be smart.

So yeah, if you read this, keep in mind that I know why the game has to change in big ways. Because people need new stuff to play with. That's just how it works I suppose.

The problem is they aren't creating a "base" anymore, the base was set around 1.7.3. Now, they are adding whatever they want and now, Minecraft looks like a huge mod !

D: So true! I've never really thought about it, but you're right! Even all of the so-loved enchanting and potions that have been around since 1.9 is a lot like what I would expect from a mod. I don't know... I feel like Notch spent his time creating a perfect, blocky sandbox for the world to play around with. And then Jeb took it and made an Adventure game where things like defeating bosses are somewhat mandatory.

I am suddenly really not so optimistic about Minecraft right now... But the truth is, I love the game. Every now and then we realize how much stuff has changed, and we might get frustrated. Why did things have to change from such a perfect state? Well because, to be honest, we all would have gotten bored with the things that 1.0 had to offer eventually. And they have to keep us going somehow.

I honestly hope this is an attempt at another joke on Jeb's part.

For one, Mojang said during one of the Minecon panels that they want people to use the rail system more, so they will try to improve it and not make item pipes, instead forcing people to rely on carts (which they eventually added a pipe-like action that requires redstone to droppers(which defeats their purpose of adding the "dropper" in the first place so they could give dispensers more functionality)).

But if they add horses for fast travel? Minecart usage will go down even more. Some people might even use horse for item travel instead, even if they have to ride the horse themselves to do so. If horses are too slow, or are similar to riding pigs, people will complain and hate the feature anyways.

If they don't add horses for travel (as in, can't ride because of Mojang wanting players to use carts, or they end up horrible), people will complain even more than they say how much they want horses now.

TL;DR: Mojang isn't very good at implementation or sticking to their decisions. Like how they say on twitter they say they don't like automation and then add bonemeal used from dispensers.

I feel that horses are just going to be something else for players to breed and kill, and just yet another failed method of transportation that doesn't beat just walking or sprinting (or a boat if there's water already).

I completely agree with every word you just said.
