I think there is going to inevitably be a 1.13.1-4 over the next few months after release. That’s usually how these kinds of things go. Been that way for a very long time. Though I do agree that it’s better to sort out bugs now than to have 10 minor updates like in the 1.7 and 1.8 updates. Though, the 1.7 minor updates included new features, like chicken jockeys, and the new skin models, and the 1.8 minors revolved around security issues. 1.13 is a fairly large update, bigger than anything we’ve seen in previous updates to the game. So the fact that we’re on pre5 doesn’t surprise me. Hopefully, the release drops soon. But like you I’d also rather wait for a more stable version of the game.

Seems like it. I'm anticipating that 1.13 launches within the next week or so.

I started playing the game back in May 2013. Back then 1.5.2 was the latest update to the game. 1.6 was the first update I was able to witness, as it came out on the first of July that same year. That was 5 years ago. Amazing to see how much has been added to the game and to see how far the game itself has come since. I can't wait to start messing around with all the new stuff in 1.13.

I'd like to point out that the argument that the game is dying because many Youtubers don't play it anymore, is invalid and unrelated to Minecraft. Youtube has been making some controversial changes to its monetization and search policies, mainly in an effort to crack down on offensive and somewhat extremist content. This started at the beginning of 2017, but peaked after a certain Youtuber decided to post a rather offensive video back in December of that year. Youtube has also changed its policies for obtaining ad revenue. In the past, all you needed was 10,000 views minimum to start generating revenue. Now, it's something like 4,000 views a month and 1,000 subscribers a month. This policy doesn't really apply to the guys who have multiple millions of subscribers, but to the guys who have 500,000, 100,000, 10,000, or less? Looks like they're. The platform doesn't seem to be as open for new creators to come in and make it big like it used to be 4 or 5 years ago. A lot of content creators run full time on YouTube. It's their business. And with the way YouTube has recoded their search preferences as to what a given user will find when he searches for something, it's not lucrative anymore to push out Minecraft related content when providing for yourself and possibly a family comes first.
Think of it like this. You own a small store and you carry this brand of cookies that are your absolute favorite. But lately they're not selling so well, but another brand is and it's something you could easily import into your store. Do you keep the brand you love, or switch to the other one so that you can keep providing for yourself?
This answer addresses the YouTube side of things. Content Creators getting burned out or falling off the map has been discussed prior.

How did you find out about The Sanctuary?: This thread, of course.
Are you familiar with Discord?: Met him awhile back. Great guy.
What drew you to The Sanctuary and why are you excited to join? My history of MC started with multiplayer survival servers. I can tolerate single player, but the community aspect that comes with groups like this is what really keeps the game entertaining for me. I've played in a similar group a few years back but unfortunately that community ceased to exist. Lately I've played a lot of servers with plethoras of plugins, and while I enjoyed those experiences, I felt they took away from the game. The kiddos that go around proclaiming that the game is dead and that vanilla is boring need to take a step back and appreciate the creativity that comes with vanilla and the freedom it encourages. Combine that with a strong community, and you have yourself an entertaining night after work, and memories to reflect back on in the future.
Tell us a little about yourself: I'm training to be a firefighter and EMT right now. I work logistics at Target, and I shoot things in my free time. With a camera of course. Photography is a pretty big passion of mine. Don't ask me about the gear I use. We'd probably end up in a 45 minute conversation unless you had fled early on like most people do. When I'm not working out, adventure seeking, socializing, or plotting to over throw the government, I'm usually right here, playing video games.

Modded minecraft? Probably not. So much has changed with mods from 1.7.10 to 1.12. Some mods haven't even updated past 1.7.10, while others are completely different in future versions. So to answer your question, no, you wont be able to update a world from one version of modded to another without a map reset.

There are plugins out there that are somewhat like this, though I don't see their implementation in vanilla minecraft as something worth while. Rather than actually spending time gathering the resources for enchants, you could grind mob kills, which could easily be farmed with a spawner or other grinder trap, thus defeating the purpose of this type of system.

The plugin mcmmo has a feature like this, to an extent. You can basically salvage tools for a chance of receiving none, some, or all of its components back, taking durability into consideration. But to be honest I am highly skeptical that such a feature would ever make its way into the game. Coding would be difficult, as there are too many variables present.

Part of the creativity in minecraft is using the blocks and items in game to create furniture. Adding in 20+ block models with a few distinct textures could cause lag for lower end computers and would put a lot of internal stress on a server. I think it's just easier to pretend, so to speak, that certain configurations of blocks are different types of furniture and appliances.

Diamonds as they are in their vanilla form are so popular that changing them wouldn't make too much sense, but then again Mojang is redoing almost every texture in the game so there's that. I personally don't mind the color of diamonds in game. There's a surge of excitement in finding the ores and a sense of power in owning those shiny blue tools and armor.

There are so many mechanics and elements within the game that I really wish Mojang would just spend an update cycle reworking and providing more functionality. Minecarts and rails are one of such elements. Everyone overlooks minecarts for travel now with boats and elytras being the preferred option, obviously. But to me there's still something fun and exciting about setting up rails to different parts of my bases. I would reiterate my opposition to this thread, as that would be redundant. I will however state my overall approval of this suggestion. Very well thought out. I think Minecraft needs some of these mechanics to be readdressed and reworked in the light of recent updates. Provide the community with even more to work with. Nice job.

An update like this would be cool, though I'm not sure coding eruptions and melting blocks would be a smooth or lag free process. Think about all the block updates that would happen in just seconds with some form of eruption. And melting blocks would require some work put into block states, unless the process was instant, such as pouring water is over lava blocks.
The modded solution to volcanoes has always been some form of basalt block, much darker than stone, naturally generated in a volcano structure, with a lava lake in the center, and lava streams pouring from the sides. A static edition, yes, but it'd add to the biome palette you're thinking of.

1.14 was going to bring update aquatic and 1.15, hinted at by Jeb, would be a fan based update where hot suggestions in the community would be taken and considered. With all the new technical stuff being combined with update aquatic in 1.13, this supposed fan based update would then be 1.14. Other posts have suggested that Mojang has been looking at some of the most popular posts on the Minecraft suggestions subreddit. Different kinds of slabs and stairs have been longed for for as long as I can remember. It's possible that we could see them in 1.14.

Are you playing single player or multi player?
Multiplayer servers distribute the mob load differently, meaning that the more players on a server will result in fewer mob spawns by you.
For both single player and multiplayer, you need to make sure that there are no other places for mobs to spawn. If you built your farm underground or close to or on the surface you will need to light up all caves and surfaces within a 128 block radius of the farm.
The easiest thing to do is to just build the farm up in the sky. I usually will go 150-200 blocks up, and then make a glass afk platform 24 blocks above the farm.

Getting your server out there comes with good advertising, but having a high quality server is how you get players to stay. What features does this server have that sets it apart from others? The plugins you have, or lack thereof will create the environment surrounding your server. Players won't stay if they feel its too stagnant or grindy. Ranks should serve as a goal to extend and enhance gameplay, not force hours of grinding. It ruins the game.

Mid game for me usually involves having a full set of enchanted diamond gear and tools. They ennchants may be mediocre but they're enchants nonetheless. Mid game is usually when I've stock piled a decent supply of food to a point where I don't need to do any manual farming for awhile. Mid game transitions to end game once I start automating various resources and have a decent setup going for xp. That and getting a hold of my Elytra.
