posted a message on CTM method=repeat sheet converter?

    Hey fellas.

Do you know how to convert a sheet of textures into a series of tiles for use with CTM method=repeat? I remember from years ago, there used to be a way to take a sheet of textures, run it through a MCPatcher I think, and convert the sheet into tiles.

For example: I have a sheet that is 256x256 pixels, which is an 8x8 sheet of 32x textures. I want to use a program to convert that sheet into 64 tiles, each 32x32 pixels, numbered 0-63 so that CTM can read them and display them properly in-game.

I thought it was with MCPatcher that I used to do this years ago, but I can't find an option to convert a sheet. It might have been the 'convert texture pack from 1.4 to 1.5' feature, but that isn't working.

I really don't want to have to copy-paste each tile and save them sixty-four times.

Thanks for the info. Maybe there's some workaround I can do involving stained glass.

posted a message on Better Glass - no transparency?

Old texturepack author here. I just started working on my pack again after a couple years away from it. It's hard relearning all this stuff! I'm stuck on a problem: I can't get my old Better Glass texture to work.

Back when I last played, MCPatcher had Better Glass, which allowed me to use alpha in my normal glass texture for semi-transparent glass, much like the new stained glass. Here's an old screenshot of what the glass looked like: http://i.imgur.com/m5V3I7a.png

Now the glass is just blank, invisible when I load up my pack. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've tried it with both MCPatcher and Optifine with the latest versions of both, on a fresh install of Minecraft, updated to the latest patch(not snapshot). I've read all the guides I could find.

Is it a problem with my CTM properties file? Here's a pastebin of my properties file: http://pastebin.com/fZXWm3aG

Is there something special I need to do in the renderpass properties file to get alpha transparency?

Did I screw up somewhere? Did MC change so that Better Glass doesn't work or isn't necessary? Thanks for any help you can give.

Anyone heard from TobiwanK3nobi recently? I'm alil worried haven't heard from him in forever :( . I love his artwork and his texture/resource pack and would love to see it update like everyone else. But i really just want to know if he is OK right now :( .

Love you TobiwanK3nobi, I miss you.

    Yeah I kinda just disappeared, didn't I?

I'm around. I just have a lot of things going on right now, so my texturepack has been moved to the back of the bus. I still have a lingering desire to finish it and make it a really great complete pack, but there's a LOT of work left to do and I have other things I need to focus on these days. I guess I should really fix the original post to say that.

If you were a watcher of my YouTube channel, I'm just not interested in that stuff right now.

That's now a core vanilla capability. You just have to have the pack in a folder rather than a .zip file. Press F3+t to refresh the textures after you've made a change.

It would seem I'm behind the times. I just want to make textures, why does everything have to change all the time. :S

Thank you though! I've been totally avoiding texturing for months because it was too annoying to me to have to close/reopen the game.

So what ever happened with the ability to edit texture packs with the game still open? I loved that about MCPatcher. It made texturing so much easier. Now I have to close the game, toss the texture into the pack, load the launcher, load the game, load the world, repeat. Is there some check box I'm missing? If the feature is gone, I'd love to see it return.

Would you consider letting someone take it up to continue the pack? It's understandable if you're tired and would like a break from it but I'll be that guy and push for a continuation of some sort. Before this pack my main was Faithful.
I was tired of it, and I did need a break, but I'm working on it again. I might have an update within a couple weeks, maybe later, but it will def happen. It will be a big one too - including all of the work I did before I got tired(but never added in an update). Sorry for the gap in usability.

I don't see any of mine in the screenshots - is it different in game?

Hey Tobi, got some depressing info.. Someone stole your textures and posted a texture pack on Planetminecraft.

Here's the link to their texture pack. Your cobble and water textures, as well as some others.

    http://www.planetmin...elveland-light/

I'll pm you as well so you see this ASAP.

Yeah I checked out all the screenshots and the in-game textures - it's all 16x textures and I don't see any of mine.

Any updates or progress on going for 1.6?

Oh, and btw, this should help. Use texture ender.

If it's only the renaming images and making new folders for textures, I would gladly help you convert your pack to 1.6 if you don't have time for it. Just ask if you'd want me to. I'd just pm you a mediafire link when done so you can get a 1.6.x download ready.

Honestly, the main reason I haven't updated yet is lack of interest. I needed a break. Actually, I could probably get a solid v31 out if I spent a few hours on it, but I promised a fair number of people that I would fix the glass - make it have a frame so that it would at least show that when people use optifine instead of MCPatcher - but I haven't done that yet. There are also a few unfinished textures that I did for this version that I would have to get done before I put it out. Haven't wanted to.

That's the only reason right now - everything is converted properly. I just didn't want to put it out with unfinished work. I guess something is better than no 1.6 version at all though.

GUI update is good (although it looks 16x16-esque, like how your villagers are), and I REALLY enjoy the new diamond tools. Not sure about everything else since I haven't seen it but the changes from v29 to v30 that I have seen are phenominal.

Sometimes I go pack hunting and can't find anything ever, so I switch to default. Updated to v30 and forgot about it, now I'm back to being in love with Inspiration.

Please keep the textures coming, I love your work.

Thanks man. It's comments like this that keep me going. I might have quit long ago if no one cared about it.

Do you still have the textures for the older packs? I like those better than the newer ones. (the ones in this pic: http://www.minecraft...view.jpg?5d3c5b ) I would love to still use your pack if I can get my hands on the old one.

I've got the old textures man, but they're in pre-1.5 packs, which wont work with the current format, and definitely won't work with the upcoming resource packs format. In addition, only like half of all textures would be changed, many of those old textures were before a lot of things were introduced to minecraft. Pistons, hoppers, comparators, etc. If you really want the old textures I can give you the zip file with all previous versions of my pack, but it will be up to you to sort through them and find the textures you want, stitch them into a pack, and convert it to the new format. Do you want them?

As far as I know the way you have it now is the only way it's possible as the item frames don't use a metadata and they aren't counted as a 'block' which means CTM doesn't apply to them. Maybe put a request in for kahr to allow us to edit stuff like this in the MCPatcher thread?

I've got so many requests for Kahr. ^_^

Great pack btw, one of the few 16x I really like. Pixel Perfection I mean.

    Hey guys,

I've been lurking here for a few weeks and now I have a problem, so I guess I'll show my face.

The problem: I want to make my item frames border not be birch wood. I want to give it a custom texture using CTM.

I got a similar thing to work for lever by creating two textures and two properties files:
•block69.properties - linked to an image that replaces the cobble part of the lever
•lever.properties - linked to an image that is a duplicate of the lever in the blocks folder

The block69 properties file gives the whole item the texture that overwrites the lever's cobble box, including up the actual stick portion. The lever properties file overwrites the overwrite, forcing the lever texture back on over the new box. The end result is a lever item that's much easier to understand at a glance.

I want to do the same thing with item frame. I've got a nice leather backdrop for it but the border is still birch wood. I want to make the border iron using a new CTM texture, but I can't figure out how to name the properties file which will overwrite the border. The issue is that item frames are apparently not blocks, but entities. The wiki says the entity ID is 18, but that's the ID for leaf blocks.

What do I name properties file to overwrite item frame borders? Anyone know? I can't find any mention of entities in the sample ctm properties file.

EDIT: Well, I made it happen, but not in a way that I like. I changed the wood_birch.png to my new iron border. Since I have a CTM file for birch wood that overwrites it, all birch wood blocks aren't being affected, just the item frame. I hope someone else knows another way though, because sometimes CTM doesn't work, in which case my birch wood textures will be iron. :/

Are you gonna add extra random textures to it? <3 all the random textures on your pack.

Btw, i saw on one of your streams that you have a big texture sheet of all the stone textures you made, is it possible that i could maybe get an image of that? I won't use the textures for other purposes than private use.

I can understand if you don't want to give out the image publicly :D

Yeah I plan on doing more random textures. Here's ALL of my texture resources. I hope you can open .psd files. In the first folder is where most of my backup sheets are, like Textures 32x32, Stones, Flora, etc. The '0ld Method' folder is the previous pack format from before 1.5, and the other folders are all duplicate stuff from my actual pack. I edit from these folders and then toss the final saved .pngs into the pack zip. But I included them as well because many of them contain .psd files which have layers of textures that may or may not be in the other texture sheets.

So there ya go. Good luck sorting through that texture dump. ^_^ Hell, even I can't find what I'm looking for in it sometimes.
