Do you eventually plan on adopting Forge for more compatibility? Just with base file editing, it's not going to work for me. So I have to give this mod a pass, because it's not going to work with everything else I use. All in all I think your mod is great use for cobble, which usually ends up getting voided usually.
I'm waiting for that too. And a Cobble Crafting Table would be completely bomb! =D
As far as I can tell it seems to work with Forge ModLoader, but I run into an error where it is complaining that the Stone Bow class doesn't exist. Unfortunately it causes a crash so I can't tell past that whether it will work or not, but again it seems to.
Also, if you use IC2 you can save the excess cobble and throw it into a recycler for scrap. Last that I checked you had a 12.5% chance to get scrap from anything that you threw in to the recycler. Means that you should get about 8 scrap for every full stack of cobble that you throw into it.
I'm stumped as well. I just confirmed that it's working on Forge build 251 and 262. I made sure I was in survival mode for the tests. Can you post your ForgeModLoader-client-0.log file contents in a spoiler and your TreeCapitator.cfg file contents in a second spoiler? Also, are you in true survival mode (you chose survival on the world creation screen) or is this a creative world that you switched the gamemode to 0?
Found the problem. AtomicStryker's Multi-mine interferes somehow with the block breaking process of Treecapitator. Makes it work in creative but not survival. And yes, I was in true survival.
Okay so weird issue. I have installed Forge build #261 and the forge universal version of Treecapitator. But I can't get it to work right in survival. Works fine in creative, but doesn't do anything in survival. I've tried modifying all of the settings but I just don't know what to do. If I downgrade to the 1.3.2k version of Treecapitator it works fine. I'm stumped.
most of this wouldn't be happening if he simply gave a progress report or something (even saying "i'm not doing **** and won't be for the next 2 months, go away" is better than staying silent).
ignoring the fanbase always has this effect, people'll want to know what's up, and no amount of white knighting'll change that, since everyone who asks that ignores people who go "stop bugging devs" or "it'll be done when it's done" anyway or dismisses them as trolls.
Be that as it may, they are still not required to give updates or progress reports. But yes, giving updates does tend to calm the raging fans.
The bottom line is that none of you complaining about it have paid anything to use this mod. The dev owes you nothing. If you don't like the way things are being handled, boycott the mod. This isn't the place to complain.
Guys, stop bugging the Dev! It will update when it updates. I have been waiting for this mod since 1.3.2 came out, but I'm not bugging him to update it. Use something else or go without. Simple as that. Just keep checking on this mod and one day you will be pleasantly surprised to find it updated. =)
This is a very well done mod, but I need Optifine to run Mincraft.If I were to replace the conflicting class from your mod with optifine's, would that effect anything other than the nausia effect?

There shouldn't be a problem between this mod and Optifine. I always run Optifine and have never had a conflict between it and Herblore. Are you using the most up to date version of Optifine? And are you using ModLoader or Forge?
I would say like 95% success in my first test. Managed to bring the total Terrain override count down to -6 with ONLY minor texture errors.

For reference, the 2 errors were with the Hunting Traps Mod and Vanilla MC. The emerald from Vanilla had the texture of wooden boots from Nifty Craft, and the iron spikes from Hunting Traps had the texture of oak wooden planks. All in all, not bad. Any way that this would work for Forge?
And as an added note, this test was done using MultiMC v4.0.3 build#61.
I know that you are very busy Grim, I was just wondering where Flat Bedrock might be on your list of to-do's. I don't mind waiting for it till you have time to get to it. Just curious. =)
This is an EPIC mod! I loved it for 1.2.5, and I am seriously looking forward to it on 1.3.2. Will be keeping an eye on this and patiently waiting for an update.
And as far as working with RedPower, in 1.2.5 it was awesome.
I have to agree. I don't care about balance all that much just yet, because I'm merely learning how everything works. But I do notice that with PowerCraft, RedPower, ThaumCraft *and* EE in my game, things *do* tend to get ridiculously easy and overpowered.
Now imagine adding something like "Simple Recipes" to it, and the result is off the charts.
An example:

One of the recipes in SR says: one Redstone dust plus one Yellow Dye gives two Glowstone dust. In EMCs that equation translates as 64 + 8 = 2 x 384. Put that recipe in PowerCraft's auto workbench, move the created glowstone through a set of Matter Condensers to make new redstone and dye which is then fed back into the AWB, while burning the overflow in a Relay, and you're creating insanely sick amounts of EMC from nothing!
And I have no examples to give directly, but some of the RedPower and ThaumCraft mechanisms can also completely destroy the balance. Yeah, there's no denying... balance is gone once you combine EE2 with most other mods like that.
This is VERY true. I came to the same calculation with the redstone + dye that you did...minus the completely awesome production loop. Mine used bones and IC2 macerators or Thermal Expansion pulverizers with BC pipes. =D
That said, it isn't so much about the balance for me as it is the fun. Granted, I do play mostly SSP so balance is naturally not much of a concern. Other wise there is my own personal quest for challenge. I don't use the EMC glitch loops because they are too easy. Last time that I played with EE2, I was manually harvesting a tree farm made of 2x2 jungle trees...with Timber! of course. 90% of the wood went into my relay as well as around 50% of the saplings. The remaining wood was used for charcoal, building, and occasionally transmuting small items.
However I do have a Thaumcraft example for you. Cinderpearl pods. They smelt in a crucible for 9 vis/taint. Craft them into blaze powder and they now smelt for 18 vis/taint. Use a duplicator and now you can make two for every one that you craft to blaze powder. Blaze powder has an EMC of 786 iirc. So Cinderpearl in a duplicator on repeat. Send to an automatic crafting table of your preference to get blaze powder. Send the first blaze powder to a crucible for smelting and the second to a relay for burning. Rinse and repeat. Though you may have to adjust the ratio to compensate for extra vis/taint production as the duplicator might not be able to keep up. Mind you this is theoretical and I haven't tested it. Just a loop hole that I found with Thaumcraft.

For reference, the 2 errors were with the Hunting Traps Mod and Vanilla MC. The emerald from Vanilla had the texture of wooden boots from Nifty Craft, and the iron spikes from Hunting Traps had the texture of oak wooden planks. All in all, not bad.
And as an added note, this test was done using MultiMC v4.0.3 build#61.

This is VERY true. I came to the same calculation with the redstone + dye that you did...minus the completely awesome production loop.
That said, it isn't so much about the balance for me as it is the fun. Granted, I do play mostly SSP so balance is naturally not much of a concern. Other wise there is my own personal quest for challenge. I don't use the EMC glitch loops because they are too easy. Last time that I played with EE2, I was manually harvesting a tree farm made of 2x2 jungle trees...with Timber! of course.
However I do have a Thaumcraft example for you. Cinderpearl pods. They smelt in a crucible for 9 vis/taint. Craft them into blaze powder and they now smelt for 18 vis/taint. Use a duplicator and now you can make two for every one that you craft to blaze powder. Blaze powder has an EMC of 786 iirc. So Cinderpearl in a duplicator on repeat. Send to an automatic crafting table of your preference to get blaze powder. Send the first blaze powder to a crucible for smelting and the second to a relay for burning. Rinse and repeat. Though you may have to adjust the ratio to compensate for extra vis/taint production as the duplicator might not be able to keep up. Mind you this is theoretical and I haven't tested it. Just a loop hole that I found with Thaumcraft.
