I'm currently looking to upgrade my computer build. You can find the parts here.
I find that it is becoming outdated, and runs most newer games slower than desired. I would like to update my graphics card a Nvidia card, preferably a 1070. I've been told that if I update my card, I'll also have to update my CPU, and along with the CPU probably the motherboard. I know this much, but not exactly where to go from here. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
Hey, I custom built a computer about a year ago, and recently have been noticing my graphics card isn't completely up to par with what I thought it would be. I am somewhat new to the whole custom building world, and need some help. I'm hoping to upgrade my graphics card to something newer, and am wondering if I am going to need to upgrade any other parts of my rig so that it can support something along the lines of a GTX 1070. or something alike. Currently I am not looking to spend a lot of money, I would like to spend just enough to support a stronger graphics card.
If you don't have a car, your best bet it probably to get a a job somewhere small, such as a fast food restaurant which is close, and ride a bike there. Your options are also very limited without talking on the phone, and not having a car.
But I'm getting the parts on Black Friday so it'll be cheaty if I would recommend to anyone.
From past experiences, black friday doesn't offer many good deals. Generally only some of the more in-expensive things go on sale. If you are looking for better sales, shop on Cyber monday, Monday, November 30.
Just wondering.. Does this PC work C4D and Minecraft smoothly? (In case your using it)
I ended up changing the build slightly, so it costs around 700 now, in-case you still want to buy it. (The graphics card needs to be switched with something else, however.)
That won't get you much. At the most, you might be able to buy a new 280 for Crossfire but that would require a new PSU, putting you pretty far above your $200 budget.
If you're only seeing frame drops when you're recording, that's indicative of 2 things:
Your CPU is not powerful enough to encode the recording on the fly, or
You're running into an IO bottleneck, presumably because you're recording off of the same drive everything else is running from.
If you're using Fraps, it's a lot more likely to be the second case than the first. If you're not, it's probably as equally likely to be either.
If it's the first case I'd recommend switching to Fraps, as Fraps does a lot less encoding than other recorders and puts less of a strain on your CPU. If it's the second, I'd recommend buying a new dedicated recording hard drive.
Thats why I said I had no budget. I don't necessarily need to upgrade now, just something to work towards. I also wasn't aiming for something to buy right away. I am fine with what I currently have, but in the future I see myself needing more.

Try other recording software, Fraps might not be optimized for windows 10. Try OBS, its much better than fraps, for free.
