Have we really thought up portal ideas? Cause I personally think that each dimension should have a unique portal, kinda related to the dimension itself. Like maybe the Kyther portal could be some sort of pool of water, surrounded by Lapis blocks?

We kind of had one a while ago, but weve lost so many possible ideas in this rage of text :)two things,
    one for the sky dimension
    Mobs:
    Bear(honey duh)
    Gargoyle (info later)
    Wind Cube (Zenith slime)
Twister (1/2 block mob with 5 drills circling it, it attacks by spinning them aroung itself and charging(basically Zenith Blaze))

    two:
Blaze Serpent is better than my hell borer,
so keep that, but i would like to see the geysers as a way to defeat it.Repost from pg 100

    Skyther Boss

    The Overworlder

    Spoiler

a large ancient creature made of counter rotating disks and diamonds. It has two large jewels on its body (front and back) and it's eye can jump between the two, making its only weakspot very hard to reach. Its large wings aren't necessary for its flight, but they allow it to grab things and turn more quickly.

During the battle , it floats 4 blocks off the ground, around the dead, cloud-like landscape, sometimes drifting to an island with Skyther fauna. It will even go under the island, completely avoiding the player unless they have a cloud, glider, or grapple.
    s
It attacks the player by; touching you, laying horizontally 2 blocks off the ground and spinning towards you, grabbing you with its tentacles and throwing you, spawning Gargoyles, or shooting a lazer from it's eye.

Raming you does normal Zombie damage
Spinning does 1/2 a heart every second he touches you(can be avoided by crouching)
Grabbing does a heart of damage, and then you take fall damage when you hit the ground.
Gargoyles are a neutral mob that rarely ever move, typically going only 10 blocks from their original spawn, that act like endermen in that, when you hit them, they charge you.
They attack by dive bombing you, and ramming you, or if near a liquid, they will scoop it up and drop it on you (hope to God its Purine). Out of the boss' realm, they can be tamed with stone bricks and when they sit, and you run a liquid behind them, they project it through them and spill it out 2 blocks away (a decorative mob :P ), but if a monster gets too close, it will re-direct the liquid so it hits the mob.
Shooting the lazer causes him to become immobile for the duration of the lazer, but if it hits you, it slows you, does 2 hearts a second, and leaves a short burn, so be careful.

    Spoiler

The arena features many floating islands with strong winds between them, allowing you to "swim" from some of the islands to another, while others have ancient bridges. The fortress lies behind the portal, where lies the summoner, maybe a large bell??? When it appears, it makes a clanking sound that slowly gets louder until beams of energy start to bubble and come together and form the Overworlder. (on the map it is not drawn to scale).

When it spawns, the Overworlder is encased in a protective electrical shield that can't be penetrated. To lower it, you must activate the pillars with some new portal starter. The result is (Greek (can't call it that))fire appearing along the towers 4 sides all the way to the top, if the Overworlder gets near the flame, its shields deactivate and if it touches it, it catches fire and takes damage until its shield recharges in 30 seconds. You must repeat this process 5 times before his shield is down permanently.

When you kill him, his jewels fracture and shatter, and his gears blow apart in a fiery explosion, hurting you if you aren't careful. He drops 500xp, the skyther key, and some unique item. Don't worry if he dies off a cliff, because winds at the bottom will re-deposit them in the middle island (not you though).

    What do you all think???

What about a wind or air golem? It would be partially transparent, couldn't take fall damage, and could possibly fly or float. (though I don't know how you would craft it)

that would be interesting, maybe just a golem that repels gravity in some way?
    a new metal Magnetite?

When the guardian runs out of life, you die and have to try again, cool. The eye should be opened by smashing the eyelid with something huge.

Maybe you should have to electrically charge some kind of other coral lining a nearby trench, and when it reaches full charge (10 sec) it releases a discharge that reaches 20 blocks in any direction, stunning everything but the boss. The coral then opens its eyelid to hit the coral with an explosive spell of somekind...

    Nice, 5 pages without me.
I have done some texturing-testing and have created a list of blocks. (I will make items too, later on).
Here is the list on new blocks that I have compunded:

    Type of blocks:
    Stone/ores
    Soil
    Organic
    Liquid

    Nether:
    Sulphur
    Quicksilver
    Ruby

    Netherrack
    Soulsand
    rich-Soulsand
    Glowstone
    Netherroots
    Netherbranch
Nether crystal/shroom:i dont have the internet to check on what crystals/shrooms should be added so can someone else do it.

    Kyther:
    Magnesium
    Titanium
    Saphire
    Copper

    claystone (kyther stone)
    soil
    sand
    Alges:
    alges

    Aether:
    Silicon
    PLatinum
    Emerald
    Purite

    skystone
    skycobble
    skydirt
    skytrees
skyleaves: these have to be in more coulor than normal leaves because of "it should be vibrant and green". so has all other organic materials.
    Honey

PLEASE ADD MORE TO THIS LIST!!!! It is good if we have a list on all blocks.

PS: I have only limited internet.

Awesome that we have people coding now, we had mob, dimension, and block artists :laugh.gif:

by the way, hope its not OP but have an idea for a rare ore: Purite.

Its a greenish-blue crystal that is rarer then diamonds and gold. It's found on only the highest islands, and are only in veins of 1-8. When mined with an (iron-level) tool or higher, they drop 1 Purite crystal. When this crystal is thrown in water, it turns all water blocks within 5 blocks into a greenish liquid Purine. Purine has all the physics of water, except that you can't make an infinite source (like lava). Purine has 3 effects:
    1. When you enter it, you regain health, and hunger can't lower.
    2. when a neutral or aggressive mob enter it, they become passive.
    3. When an ore is thrown in, it despawns, and over the course of the next few M.C. days, it begins to grow along the block that the Purine touches.

because we might as well solve as much as we can now...

    also, great work guys :biggrin.gif:

When I said universal ores are better, you replied basically saying "It's OK, every new ore is just a pointless duplicate of a current ore, for example, titanium is just retextured iron." A dupiate of iron is the stupidest thing any mod maker has ever done. Universal ores replaces the ten pointless duplicates with the original thing. Iron definitely needs to be universal, it's a nice metal with tons of recipes, and a durability of 255. Do you want to replace iron with another ore with the same stats, just less uses? Coal is in every place with life, and diamonds are compressed coal. At least make coal, iron, and gold universal. Also, I'd like to note, gold is dropped by zombie pigmen.

You don't have to hate on it, and also, we said we wanted to start in any dimension and survive/thrive, that's the only reason I brought this up again. Its really boring to have the same ores over and over, so the new ores will do the same basic things, but they will be unique to each of the dimensions, adding to the creative and adaptive aspect of the game.

If you really despise the idea or think its to complicated/useless, its fine to think that, but work with us here. We have enough conflicting ideas already....

On that note have we decided on the nether boss and tossed out my Hell Borer for the Blaze Serpent?
    Quote from FireHawkDelta

We have enough snakes, I still think it should be a skeletal beast.

I partially agree here, one snake is enough, but I don't feel like skeletal says "water dimension" as well as it could, an Octopus(Kraken) or Shark would probably be best.
(I know its clique, but they are used for a reason...)

The ores are not individualized. But here goes:

From left to right: ruby, saphire, emerald, platinum, titanium? and magnesium?
    And nether boss frame?

THe blocks beside are nether brick, my texture pack that i am using is buggy.

The gems and platinum are fine, but I think Titanium and Magnesium could be better, maybe Mg could be a yellow-orange coal texture and Ti could be a brighter Iron, or make it look like Pt and give Pt a darker white with yellow highlights.
    Quote from FireHawkDelta

What type of boss? Most people want a kraken, because they're uncreative. I want a bone megalodon with dunkleosteus minions. It can fire lasers.

I think this is a great idea, especially for a mini-boss and directly correlates with fossils and necromancy, but I don't think it says "water dimension" the way an octopus or eel can...

Completely agree with you on every point there. Except, how can siliocon (we're talking about the element, right?) glow? I didnt know that.

Silicon doesn't glow as far as I'm aware, but it is responsible for circuits in your computer than run the screen, so might as well stretch reality to find something that works...

There should be a replacement to coal, iron and diamond in every dimension.
I.O.M there not too many ores if you follow this logic. The other ores (gold, lapis lazuli and redstone) are'nt really necesary if you ask me, though maybe there should be a replacement for redstone.

    Nether:
    Sulphur-:Coal:
    Quicksilver- :Iron:
Ruby(i think we all agree on that) :Diamond:

    Kyther:
    Magnesium- :Coal:
    Titanium- :Iron:
    Sapphire- :Diamond:

    Aether:
    Silicon- :Coal:
    Platinum- :Iron:
    Emerald- :Diamond:

Personally I don't like the idea of universal ores.
Tell me what you think of this IDEA.

Edit: Anyone up for long time discussion tomorrow after 12? My school ends at that time! :laugh.gif:

Just filling in what I thought might fit.

Silicon would be found on the first 3-10 blocks down from the surface of an island, and must be crafted with another material to make the torch, but Silicon would provide 2-4 bits, so there would be plenty. It would also be used in some simple electronic add-ons like sonar (for detecting certain things underground) or maybe my pump idea.

Quicksilver is acquired like iron, in ingot blocks, but when smelted creates a mercury-like liquid used in absorbing heat (lava and fire) as well as cold (snow). But if the ore is extracted, you get super-tough silver, which makes quicksilver rarer than iron, but more common than gold, and it is tougher and lasts longer than both.

Also had some redtsone thoughts :GP:

    Nether
    Magnetite

    Kyther
    Copper

    Aether
    Electure

Magnetite is a magnetic ore used in many recipes and that can also be used as a replacement for redstone, but its not as strong

Copper is an ore found uncommonly along reefs and tunnels that is a stronger replacement for redstone. When crafted with rubber though (obtained by smelting petroleum which can be refined into oil for an alternative fuel) it creates a wire that can be run underwater, directly under blocks, and run straight up walls and ceilings.

Electure is an electrically-charged ore that is found in and under dense storm clouds.
When you mine it, it provides one shard and can be crafted with silicon and {sky wood} to make a very bright {sky torch}. It also has some alternative uses as far as fueling and creating sentries, as well as defensive walls.

hmmmm, i think the universal ores idea is better, and then 1 or 2 special ores per dimension, and then we have the new gameplay elemts like brewing.
for one of the special ores i would like to suggest sulphur in the nether, not like gunpowder, but sulpur clumped by the heat of the nether and could be used as fuel for 16 smelts.

Yeah, and maybe it could also be used in TNT, maybe replacing sand...
I really would like to see some of these things implemented, it would be really cool, and add the necessary things for each dimension...but would change where some of them go...

It's best to make most ores almost universal, since gold is in both the nether and overworld now. Iron should be obtainable in every dimension somehow, and gunpowder is a very easy thing to make universal. We should give every dimension most of the basic things, but each has some major things the others don't.

ohh, oh well, worth a shot...
    Quote from Kazuja

That's exactly the point I wanted to say. We can't experiment with something that doesn't exist.

Also, I still want to know where the hell jellomob just went? You know, it's all nice that we are still more or less productive, but it's getting boring if he doesn't already come up again and give savannah the permission to start threads for one or two dimensions. I think that would take like 30 minutes to message some guy with a sentence like "Yes, create a daughter thread" and edit the topic by one more link :dry.gif:

Well, I'm not angry with him, I'm just annoyed that we can't really go on.

It really is sad, we've come all this way and it might die off if he doesn't come back...

not to continue the endless spewing of ideas here, but I may have come up with a solution for dimension ores and their uses.

Based on our intentions, we want to be able to start in any dimension and survive/thrive, so that's how we got the nether roots to get wood, so why don't we do this for the ores.
Just come up with new ones that do similar things.

    Ex:
    Ow-Coal

    Kw-Magnesium

    Ow-Iron

    Kw-Titanium

    Ow-Redstone

    Kw-Copper

It makes it really easy to come up with the uses as well as the names and physics

What do think of this system???

Before it's destruction the Nether was home of the Pigmen, super engineer's that made the best machines, but then the Ender attacked and turned their world into hell.

The blazes were the mechanical military, they went insane after the ender massacre.

They also went into genetics, making something that could fly, like the blaze, except they could hold passengers, the ender turned it into another monster.

The pigmen were turned into monstous images of themselves, they still have some pigmanity left in them, they don't attack you until you attack them.

What made them an engineering race? Their guardian was the Mother machine, a being able too calm all machines, but turned everything made by the pigmen into evil machines when it got tainted by the ender.

What do you think of my mini-story?

Not bad, but I still think that the boss should be like a banished monstrosity, since the nether is basically hell.
But I really do like them both.... I can't choose....
