That's very unfotrunate ?! Ah, how these forums have changed! I laugh at these silly new rules. The forums are very reminiscent of the CoD franchise - only changes for the worst! I think today's update to the website is really bad, and I mock it wholeheartedly!
Also, cats are great. Hmph.

Mar 1, 2014The_Forgotten posted a message on Minecraft Movie?Although I'm not much of a movie guy, I'd probably be interested to see that happening. I can understand people not being interested in one, but at the same time, it's not like anyone's gonna be forced to see it - so there's no real downside to having one. Animated would probably be best, due to the game's style and all, and it better be more than a simple "this is Steve, he builds a house, he finds diamonds, he goes to the nether, he finds a stronghold, he kills the ender dragon" kind of deal - that's the one thing I'd be afraid of. If the people behind the movie would take the time to see fan-content first and foremost, they'd quickly find out that it has been done enough that more representations of the game's storyline are not very necessary, haha. Not on that kind of budget, anyway.Posted in: News
As long as it'd be an original story set in the game's world, I'd be pretty okay with it. -

Maybe I'm wrong, but hey, we'll see when I play it. -

My problem is less one of not liking the mod, and more of thinking it doesn't deserve a spotlight. There are a lot of way more impressive mods out there, which actually add something to the game, instead of just making things easier. Like the Atmosmobs mod, that adds a bunch of new wildlife to the game, or any of the numerous biome and dimension mods that add beautiful landscapes to explore. Or Mystcraft, which takes crafting from just making items and blocks, to creating your own custom worlds. A mod that just gives you guaranteed super-items for cheap seems pretty lackluster a thing to showcase in comparison...and the article sort of disrespects Mojang's intent for balance with the random aspect of enchanting, by talking about this mod like it's fixing a problem, and not even acknowledging it's a cheat/difficulty-reduction.
Well, if you don't think it deserves a spotlight, contact the mods one way or another and suggest those very mods you just mentioned! Maybe they'll have a better chance to be seen then. I'm all for features of cool mods and maps, but we're not gonna get them if people don't point them out, haha.
That may explain why my map was featured over a year after it came out. People took too long to pinpoint it. -

Must be a slow news day if an ancient-as-hell cheat mod gets featured. What's next on Community Creations? A mod that lets you make Obsidian tools that instant-kill mobs and break blocks in one hit?
There's no such thing as a "bad enchantment". Any enchantment makes your item better than it was before. Maybe there should be some bad enchantments, though, just so people will appreciate what they have when they get something that isn't the absolute best possible combination enchantments ever.
I see someone really doesn't like this mod.
I'm personally happy for the modder, even though I don't use mods unrelated to mapmaking, hehe. -

May 7, 2013The_Forgotten posted a message on Minecraft on the Oculus RiftPosted in: NewsQuote from BinaryWolf
The motion control is only to add a sense of realism to the camera's movement, following your head's rotation. You still play with a keyboard and mouse. Think of it as a more immersive monitor that's 3d and covers your peripheral vision.
Yeah, in that sense, that's why it's certainly cool. But I think I'm too used to monitors being used for games and similar forms of entertainment, while the whole immersive view is more so reserved for outside activities. Maybe I'm just too afraid of being sick with this sort of view, just like with 3D, though. I'll see if I ever get to try one out in person. -
May 7, 2013The_Forgotten posted a message on Minecraft on the Oculus RiftCool, but eh, I'll stick to simple old keyboard and mouse/controller gaming with a normal monitor. Motion controls like this are cool and all, but I don't really see them replacing what we have, simply because it already works wonders. It's certainly a neat little thing, but the "wow" factor can only last so long, as demonstrated by the Wii, PS Move and Kinect.Posted in: News
I do support the work put into it, though. I can only wonder what may come next. -
Apr 29, 2013The_Forgotten posted a message on The New Minecraft Launcher: What Does It Mean For Minecraft? An interesting read! The launcher doesn't mean all that much to me, but I have faith in Dinnerbone and I'm sure it'll be a nice change. Good to know!Posted in: News
(That said, I have to admit that being able to choose what version you want to play is an amazing addition. For maps, it'll be quite a relief, especially for those who don't see the need to update any further, for fear of breaking mechanics and what have you.) -

am I the only one who thinks this is foolish? theyre taking the same path that jagex took with RuneScape: Kept adding stupid stuff to a game that was already really successful and made it an awful game. With mojang adding all this crap (Wolves, horses, redstone update, etc) i fear this is going to happen...
The difference being that these features are implemented very well so far? And that Runescape is not a sandbox adventure building game? And that Mojang is not Jagex? -

For some odd reason, I never got a notification about your reply here! I swear, I check this website every few days, and never got anything. Sorry about that!
Yeah, the project is still under development, but is temporarily put on hiatus - and diminished. Basically, what I'm planning will take so long that I won't be done within one Minecraft update, and with 1.8 breaking a lot of the map... I decided to wait until a more stable version of the game is out (a.k.a when it stops big content updates). With how high up I was shooting with this, I decided to also concentrate specifically on the Prince of Paranoia, which turned from a puzzle/adventure map into a puzzle/novel map, for people who like a good story. Definitely different, but it IS looking good! It won't be out anytime soon, alas, so that much will be on the backburner until the game stops its updates that break everything in maps.
I remember you mentioned the forum earlier on Youtube, and I hadn't checked it for a few days, so I didn't know about this reply! Yeah, you pretty much know how it is by now - the project changed a lot and looks nothing like it did in the last preview I made (mainly because I felt like it reused too much of the same stuff and didn't feel fun to me - wouldn't want to release it and bore people with it!). If I ever need help, and you have any interest in the game at all, then cool! Otherwise, just look forward to hearing about it once the game stabilizes~

I'm just some guy that likes playing Minecraft and making maps - of course I reply to reviews! But ah, I like hearing that more stuff to mess with and more puzzles would be appreciated, because those are already planned for the next one. The mazes, I'll try to avoid those - unless they're fairly unique or not too tough, haha. And references/Easter eggs? You'll get those for sure!
Oh, and this is a little preview for my favorite part of the next map so far. I felt like I haven't posted enough screenshots of the next map to motivate myself to work more on it, haha. And you can consider it a reward for commenting and bringing feedback!

Haha, first lil' review in a while! Glad you liked the map a lot, and I'm surprised you played it that many times! I thought I'd be the only one who would ever play it more than once, haha. (Granted, I had to test it, but still!) Of course, I'd disagree with a 10 out of 10, and even a 9 sounds a bit too high - but that's probably because I'm aiming to make the prequel even better, and I don't want to try beating such a high score, haha. What would you say would have made the map better? I can ask you, seeing how you played it multiple times and could probably answer better than some others. What did you like the most, and what did you like the least? And what would you have wanted to see? That might influence my next map.

As long as it'd be an original story set in the game's world, I'd be pretty okay with it.

Haha, that's a thing that happens. Fun fact, though: that particular Charlotte build will be used as a map in the Hive's Herobrine Version 2 Minigame (the server that hosts games such as Hide and Seek, Cowboys and Indians and Splegg), so people will get to see that one much before the map comes out. Should be fun!

A lot of games that updated lots like Minecraft ended up getting their final versions and were left at the community's hands. Sure, they're still adding stuff, but it can't go on forever - I give them three years max before they call it final, hehe.

As much as this is appreciated, don't worry too much about it right now The project became a bit smaller over time, and will take quite a bit longer than expected. You can put the blame on university being more complicated than anticipated, unfortunately.

Well, considering the Jim Reaper's visual designed is based on Shinigami-sama, and the moon and sun are both straight out of Soul Eater... I'd say the odds are pretty good!

I have no plans to make a sequel to this map, haha. The story leaves no place for it, so I'd rather not force a sequel out of thin air. That's how bad sequels happen. And I was never trying to rival any map, nor get glory! I was satisfied back when I had barely two or three playthroughs of the map during its first week, haha.
Besides, the sequel to Monarch of Madness will be more fitting and worthwhile, so expect that instead.
Yep, except, not at the moment. I took a short break because of College (which ended up being tougher than I had expected), but I'll try my best to work on it once in a while. I wouldn't be surprised at this point if I decided to get it all done for July 1st 2014, or July 1st of the year after that...
After all, both of my good maps came out on that date, so it'd be fitting to keep releasing maps on that very fateful day. Waiting that long would also give Minecraft time to update, and possibly release its final version! That would definitely make mapmaking a whole lot easier to manage.

Haha, I'm no professional on the subject, so I'm probably wrong, yes. But I make maps even if I don't understand everything I talk about! That might bite me in the butt later on, but oh well.
86 is a pretty good score regardless! It means you took the time to grab the Soul Gems.

Thanks for the review, it speaks the truth and is very much appreciated. The difficulty is definitely something I've been told about many times, along with the length being perhaps a tad too short for some players. I'll work on those a bit more for the next map, haha.
As for the "new gamemode", it was something I wanted to add during the month of August, but multiple real life events occurred all at once, preventing me to add it by making me lose motivation. At this point, I'd rather just work on university assignments and the next map, haha. I'm glad you enjoyed what you played, though!

Well, I made this one mostly in March and released it in June, so it wasn't really released for Halloween, haha. But once my next map is over, I have no idea if I'll make more or not. We'll see! As for your score, that's good! Two and (almost) a half stacks is very nice!

Ah, I get it, haha. It was obvious you two knew each other Thanks for your comments, and say hi to the Italian forum for me! Haha.
