It's called balanced gameplay. If MC introduced arrows that shot through walls and destroyed entire chunks while sprouting slime pixies and making everything slow down to 1/2 speed and everyone sounding like Peter Griffin, it would be considered a ridiculous level of fantasy. MC has to balance the experience to make it real enough (water flows downward, not upward; lava burns you; gravity goes downward) so that you have a context. For example, I think the fact that blocks stick in mid air is a flaw because it defines reality TOO much; the new slime blocks make this worse, as you push things through the air. To me, that breaks the fantasy into ridiculousness.

I agree with the Mushrooms because they are a little TOO nutty. But it's a fine line.

It may break reality to much, but it is kinda essential for game-play, since it makes some builds that would normally be impossible to build straight up or if they do then just require more time to be put in then necessary (Example: Blood Dripping from a Sword, Redstone is another one), if a drop in realism causes a rise in gameplay, then that lost realism is defiantly worth it. Although I don't see a problem in removing Mushroom Biomes since there so rare anyways

I can't stop reading all the posts. This is a like social science course I get to take for free. I am compiling a list of the dumbest statements ever made in about the Microsoft, Mojang deal.

I still can't figure out if it just ignorance, the very young community, or just people who want so bad for nothing to change they simply live in denial.

I just can't believe the things people are saying. I thought I would take my predictions and right a clear, logical explanation with proof why they will be accurate, but it would be futile. People only hear what they want to hear. It is as simple as that.

The only other thing I could offer that someone on this forum might understand one day is don't blame Microsoft and don't blame Notch. You were the people that made Notch larger than life, and beyond criticism. You were the ones funding his 2.5B future without any proof of his future promises. You were the ones that made plugins, videos, and even server space available for free.

    Good luck guys.

While I do agree with you that this is mostly the community's fault (Seriously why did stuff like the EULA change hate exist) , I have to say that people aren't saying that its anybody's fault, we are just saying that this is a bad thing

I care only that microsoft will focus on improvements to their devices. And what will happened with playstation and ios???

Sony I believe has bought the license to have Minecraft on Playstation Consoles, they will be fine, but sadly Apple hasn't done the same thing for ios and Mac Computers, so yeah I'm not sure whats going to happen for them

Mojang as a studio still is fully in charge of Minecraft, not Microsoft Games.

Besides, Minecraft from Microsoft's perspective, is mostly targeted at PG audiences. I doubt they'd implement action-shooter gameplay for a target demographic that relies on parental approval to buy the game.

I think he was joking when he said that, it would be like me saying that Microsoft would make Minecraft compatible with the Kinect or saying it only gets updated once every 3 years, or that they would add the paperclip from Microsoft Office to help out people who just started playing Minecraft

Well, I´m a little sad about that decision but we must understand that minecraft was a test, only an experiment

Source? I am highly doubting this statement is true

I'm not really sure If I like that Microsoft bought Minecraft or not, on one side of the team, this does give us a better development team who can release updates faster and fix more bugs, but on the other side this could defiantly harm Modders and Servers, a lot of servers tend to run on Linux, so this could shut down a lot of servers, a good amount of servers where already trying to figure out how to deal with the new EULA (Which I support, but that's another story) now here they will have even more to worry about. Also, Microsoft tends to not really like it when people modify their games, so I don't think the great mods we can get for Minecraft like OreSpawn and NMI will be able to operate anymore (OreSpawn is outdated yes, but I believe they are trying their best to update to 1.7.2). Let's just see how this turns out, so far what it's looking like to me is that Microsoft will make Minecraft better than it already has been, it will be mostly unchanged, or it will be so bad to the point where I quit the game

Well, my player is now female apparently, but oh well, I don't feel like fixing it :/

Actually while it does look rather feminine, it is still quite unisex, just more on the female side, there are men with orange hair and men with ponytails, look at Jeb

(Granted he does have a mustache and a beard, but you get the point)

They removed sound of getting hurt and also gave option to customize your skin. That's all everyone should want.

Not everybody knows how/wants to change the default skin, plus the new pain sound is god awful compared to the old one, hopefully this means that the old pain sound is coming back. The only problem I can see with this is the iconic character of Steve somewhat fading away

Well this is quite nice, while it does look more on the female side it is defiantly unisex, and the unisex name is quite nice to, also the newer arm model is actually good for both genders, since certain male skins don't really want to have big meaty arms (Mine doesn't I know that), also we can finally stop hearing female option suggestions, and hopefully if this becomes tog-gable then the old pain sound might come back

posted a message on Skeleton shot warnings
While I do find them annoying, I only really think this way when they are in large groups on when they are in parkour maps (Or if you just started the game, but it's kinda your fault if you go attacking mobs without even building a house), they are not that hard to kill when they are alone or in a small group because they already aim kinda slow and their attack can be abused heavily, so why I don't really like Skeletons I don't really see the point in this

posted a message on Remove bats
    Sorry but, No Support

1: Bats don't add anything other than cosmetics yes, but the cosmetics they do add are quite nice, they make caves seem more alive by adding something other than a hostile mob and adding ambiance, they can make mobs look like their flying when you put an invisable bat under a mob (More fore adventure maps), and they are a source of free experience

2: A lot of mods require the use of bats, take a look at these mobs and look how important bats can be for them

Pet Bats (Basically the entire mod)

Ultimate Pun (For a set of extremely useful armor and tools)

While these are the only two mods that I can think of that have a reliance on bats, their are plenty more mods out there that also rely on bats in some way so by doing this you are either going to put extra work on the mod creators to add in a new bat mod, remove all the features involving bats in the mod, or just stop updating the mod in general

3: Bats are hardly annoying, the only thing that's annoying about them is when you need to click on of them, which is something you don't even need to do in Vanilla Minecraft
