I would get PermissionsEx, that's what I use on my server and it works fine. There are many decent tutorials on youtube, and on the page where you download the plugin there is another tutorial.

Make it not whitelisted, just a public server. Put the IP in a post on a forum, people dont want to go through the hassle of messaging you to be put on the whitelist. I dont know if you already have it like this, but if you dont you might as well try

I've been looking everywhere for how to start my craftbukkit.jar with a batch file, and still have the command prompt running in the background. I look online and copy paste exactly what it says to into a notepad document and I save it as a batch file but it either says 'cannot specify path' or 'cannot access craftbukkit.jar'
If I go into my server folder and double-click on the jar, the server will start running and I can get on it, but I don't have access to the serverlog. Can somebody please tell me what I need to do to create the batch file I need?

I need some help with editing "en_US" in Minecraft_Server's "lang" folder. What I'm trying to do is just change some of the words around to make them say what I want. I will not use any plugins for this, I'm keeping my server vanilla. What Im doing is opening the server with WinRAR and going to lang ---> en_US ---> and then I edit the file in WinRAR. When I try to save the file, WinRAR says "archive is corrupt". I went back through, there are no other programs that could be interfering with this, I do not know why I can't do this. I cant delete files or anything. I can extract the en_US file and edit and save the edited version to my desktop, but I get the same "archive corrupt" message when I try to put it back into the "lang" folder. I cant delete anything from the jar, or edit it in anyway.

You do not need wired internet, but if you don't you either need fiber optic wireless or have to deal with some pretty bad server lag. I do this without a wire, and in a seperate room. I do have the fiberoptics though. As said before you will need to have at least 1.5 GB RAM, although I would reccomend more if you plan on playing on your own server as you would need to run the server and Minecraft at the same time. I hope that this helps

I dig down to level 12, and then start a big 3x3 shaft, and keep it going for a long while. That alone should get you some diamonds, but eventually you can make branches just big enough for your player to get through, every 2 blocks off the side of your big 3x3 shaft. If you have a fortune pick, you can easily get a stack of diamonds in c. 45 minutes by doing this.

1) Open your computers task manager
2) type in 'ipconfig'
3) Write down the 'IPv4' IP address (you may have to scroll up a little bit to see this)
4) Go to 'whatsmyip.org' and write down the number at the top
5) Type in the IP you got from 'whatsmyip.org' into your adress bar in your browser
This should take you to your routers settings and stuff. you may have to type in a passcode to get there. The username is usually 'admin'
6) Navigate to your 'Applications and Gaming' tab
7) Now, Under application, type in 'Minecraft_Server' and set the internal and external ports to '25565'
8) Now you may have to type in that 'IPv4' IP you wrote down earlier, or you might just have to type in the last 3 numbers. check the box to enable it. Have 'Protocol' Set to 'both'
9) at the bottom, press save settings.
10) open up either your 'minecraft_server.exe' or your 'minecraft_server.jar' depending on what you downloaded from minecraft.net
11) Open Minecraft.exe Try connecting to your server by typing in the IP you got from 'whatsmyip.org' or by typing in 'localhost'
12) You may have to add ':25565' to the end of the ip when you type it into minecraft.
13) give out the IP to your friends and you should all be playing together

Yes I looked in the file you mentioned, and it is all there. Thankyou very much. But whenever I edit them, and try to save it, it wont let me because it is "corrupt"
