Feb 7, 2012I've got a humble little Cave Spider grinder and a fully-shelved Enchanting Table, and I've spent a good few hours grinding away at the noisy little buggers for that striven-for level 50 enchantment. However, disappointingly, my diamond pick ended up with naught but Efficiency IV. So, I pose a question to the community. Is it better to say, get a few, mid-high level enchantments, or is it still worthwhile to grind up to 50 in the hopes of achieving high-quality enchantments? I've had very little luck in the way of enchantment, so any input would be most appreciated.Posted in: Discussion

Feather's hasn't done them yet, you're getting the default icon for a item when it's not been changed.
I'm aware, I was wondering if there was an ETA on them, or if they're coming when 1.2 is released. Just hoping for more info in general.

Thanks for the comments, guys! :biggrin.gif:
@ThePaleRecluse: I'm personally not fond of Ad.Fly. Although it won't stop me from downloading a pack, I find it a bit annoying to be honest.
Ahhh. Well, I understand. Just letting you know you deserve some kind of income for this pack. It's great. ^^;
Can't wait to see your take on the screenshot items. I suppose I can wait until the release, but my world just looks so blasé without this texture pack, and unfortunately, it's situated next to a lovely jungle, so all I see are gray sticks and green blobs when using it. :[

I had my fun with it but now it's just an irritating temptation.
I started a new map and I already got fed up with looking for sheep so I flew around to look for one before it got too dark. :tongue.gif:
Didn't think to, yknow, use the infinite items given to you in creative mode to get the wool?

I'm sometimes playing Terraria and so I can only say NPCs are the right thing for Sandboy games, especially when they give you little missions or "quests".
This is where I think a lot of the debates on NPC Shopkeepers/Villagers/Guards are sprouting from. Terraria did it well, but Terraria is an entirely different game. There, it's all about the adventure and the combat, while building is a nifty side feature.
In Minecraft, it's all about collection, building and survival, so any villagers, shopkeepers, or guards would have to tie into the gameplay somehow, otherwise the game becomes "Minecraft! And some villagers." They have to have a use, or have reason to be there. And to be honest, the reasons given so far either sprout from laziness, such as adding lumberjacks to cut your trees down for you, or a desire for more Role Play toys, such as guards in your elaborate village.
Another reason I'm iffy on adding NPC's to Minecraft is, why? What possible use could you have with a shopkeeper in a game where you're supposed to be surviving? You're either being lazy, or you're ahead of the game and planning for Adventure Mode, where we might actually have towns and such.
Wait for the release of Zombie Siege mode, or perhaps Adventure Mode. There, NPC villagers, guards and shopkeepers will have a reason to be there. In Survival mode, there is no reason for them to be there.

Do you have any settings 'forced' in your Nvidia / ATi control panel? Make sure anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering etc are all set to "application-controlled" (or if necessary, make a new profile for Minecraft and set everything to application-controlled there).
I'm actually running Intel, but before you call that my problem, I've never had this issue before. I've checked through Intel's graphics control panel, it has nothing of real use to me.
EDIT: Nevermind, I'm a complete fool; I missed a line where it was forcing texture compression. Thank you! That completely fixed it. I'm not sure why it was forced, but I'll remember that. +Rep for the solution. :smile.gif:

Does kinda look smudgy on the edges. Are your graphics on fancy or fast? Should be fancy (although I doubt that is the problem).
I've tried playing with all the in-game settings, from Fast/Fancy, the render distance, the new "Balanced/PowerSaver/MaxFPS" setting, Advanced OpenGL, GUI Scale. Nothing changes it. I've reinstalled Minecraft several times, and I've tried playing fullscreen/windowed. Nothing seems to make a difference.

Here's a few screenshots. Hopefully they do a better job of explaining.
Jun 1, 2011I've recently noticed an odd change, where Minecraft is rendering everything, from the GUI to items in my inventory, with little-none of the detail in the textures, turning items into vague blobs of color in the shape of their item, or creating JPEG-Artifact like defects on textures.Posted in: Legacy Support
I'm explaining this terribly, and just hoping someone knows what I'm talking about, because it seems to be just me.
