If you accidently deleted the file, and haven't done much on your computer since then, it may still be there. When something is deleted, it isn't really gone; the computer just says "Ok, you can write over this space now". So if the computer hasn't overwritten it yet, you can still recover the files. Use a "undeleter" tool to search through the files you've deleted recently. Good luck.

This, apparently, is the cause of the speed glitch I was experiancing... Think we could make a rune that does that? ;D

I'm very sad that any tool can be used with runes now. One of the nicer features of Runecraft was that it made golden tools have value, giving gold value on a server... rather than being simple trash.

Agreed. Perhaps runes could also be made to damage the tool, meaning that eventually (once the repair glitch is fixed) mages will trade their services for gold, or purchase amounts, should your server have an economy.

Damage to tools can't be done at the moment, though, so this is just food for thought.

Yeeeeeah, we might want to fix that. There's enough holes to the void as it is.

Awww, poor Llama. Maybe alternate between the fun and not-fun stuff? That should keep you thinking "Just gotta finish this, then I can make badass potions".

If you really can't work up the motovation to do the dull stuff, just do all the fun stuff first. Better than nothing, right?

I like what you did to my logo with the textures, but damn that sharpening looks horrible at larger sizes. I wouldn't suggest using that at any size larger than the thumbnail.

Did Llama say we're going with the second logo that I made? I wasn't going to work on that version unless he wanted it. If he does I'll just paint my own textures on'm and/or vectorize it in illustrator.

And while I appreciate the input, dude, I didn't really ask for any direct assistance on my own logos...

Ahah, mostly just throwing ideas out there, dude. Need something to do other than Minecraft occasionally, and Photoshop is pretty fun to screw around in.

    *Rune Ideas*

Glassblower Rune: I like. Alturntive way to get glass, combined with the glass pick idea.

Redstone Path Rune: Is that in 3D or 2D? Like, does it act as a large explosion, or does it remove just a single layer of blocks? Also, maybe we could set it to remove a tier-determined number of blocks in a straight line, direction chosen by placement of another torch or something? Then it really would make a path. Well, trench. Good for Building school?

Water-Lava Switch Rune: Neat, though I can't think of any real applications beyond obsidian farming, and making surface lava waterfalls/lakes.

Glass Miner Rune: I like. Giving people the ability to replace or move glass without having to resmelt the entire lot would be nice. Especially combined with the Glassblower rune.

Water-Activated Runes: Not sure if these are possible at present; if they are, there may be minor issues with the world making runes via random generation. So they'd probably have to use at least one crafted block in their construction... If this is possible, though, it means that trap-runes would be a whole lot simpler to set up, and require no trap-setter intervention to start... :biggrin.gif:

I agree that we don't need more runes messing with time; imagine if you were on a large server where these spells were popular. It would flick between night and day constantly, and drive everyone nuts. Also, if you're a thief, changing the time of day would probably be a good way to alert everyone on the server that something is going on, even if most of them dismiss it as a Chrono Trigger.

But the torch removing/placing sounds gooood. Hell, combined with the Wall Builder suggested by Kirb, you could lead someone deep into a cave system (where you've set up both runes before hand), turn around, say "Aha! I tricked you!" use the wall, use the torch-buster, and run like hell. They have to waste time digging through the wall before they can follow, so you have some time to get away.

This was originally an edit to my last post, but it took so long to do that several other people posted in the meantime, and I didn't feel like borking up the thread. Anyway, logo revised thanks to Corax.

Edit: Almost forgot, Corax sent me a message saying that the logo would look better if the C was also capitalized (and therefore, with this font, facing south west rather than south east). I agree with that, and so here is the revised version of the logo, with whatever other tweaks thrown in that I think up while I'm fixing it up.

Edit Again: Ok, that took a lot longer than expected. Anyway, image size has gone from small to FREAKIN' HUGE, both so it can be used in a greater range of sizes, and so I could add in the gold texture to the letters. On top of this, the C is now capital. I also cropped away a lot of the excess canvas. Two versions avalible, one is default, the other has a sharpening affect applied to the logo blocks, which looks kinda neat, though probably won't look as good if the image is shrunk down again. I dunno. *Shrug* The default one blurred due to size increase; that should disappear if it's shrunk again.

I am also guilty of lurking this page constantly, though about 50% of the time I'm here, I'll post something.

As this post feels kind of empty just containing that, I shall think up a random rune!

    "Garnith's Greater Gravel Grinder"

Turns all stone, cobblestone, and iron ore in the area of effect into gravel. Perfect for use above a corridor you wish to airlock(If you set a bunch of torches below it, or for creating holes in 1 layer thick stone areas. If prepared beforehand, (And a delay is set on the effect) you could activate, run a short distance, and watch the mobs suffucate.

Nah, I doubt that's going to be a problem.

Assuming you're pointing out that the runescape title is also inscribed on stone; runes in real life are commonly engraved on smooth stones, so that's what I used. There's no significant similarities, there's no brand confusion with the addition of 'craft', and in addition, the mod is a non-commercial, unaffiliated modification of Minecraft.

    I wouldn't be too worried.

Although alternatively I was also considering something vaguely like this: *Image*

Eh, might just be my natural paranoia playing up again. If the first option gets the vote, then I have no real objection.

I have sprused up the alturnitive version a bit, though, in case we end up with that. Gold and Obsidian textures blatantly stolen borrowed from the PainterlyPack. Font has no restrictions as far as I'm aware; grabbed it ages ago from some font site or other.

Click for full size, by the way.

I'm working on a Supernova TOWER rune, this rune rune will use multiple solar flare/modified solar flares+ extra runes, going all the way to the top of the map.

    We're all going to DIE.

Also, on the topic of ridiculous smiting power, a few rune ideas that cropped up in a convosation with Munsie, most of them being potions made with the proposed caldron.

Nothing below this line is Canon. It is guesswork and brainstorming at best.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First, a note about caldrons/potions. I'm kinda unsure whether the Tier block for each potion is to be included in that potion, or whether the caldron has the tier block, which determines the power of all potions created from that caldron. Personally, I'd prefer the second option; means you might ask to borrow the local Archmage's caldron as it's better than yours, though this depends on how potions are unlocked. If they are learnt similarly to runes, or gained as the player gains "ranks" in that school of runes/potions, this would work fine, but if the player starts with all potion options open to them, then a limitation system may have to be put in place to prevent newbie potion makers from simply taking over the nearest diamond teir caldron. Limiting their teir usage via their level in the potion's school seems the most balanced way to do it to me, (Someone with 3 known War runes could use a 3rd teir caldron to make a War school potion, but couldn't use it to make a Nature school potion), but this depends on how whether the system is set up numrically, how it works, and a whole lot of other things that I don't really know or are guessing at.

Another assumption made is that most potions will have about 8 ingredients, as this gives a large range of combinations to make potions with, while not requireing a stupid-huge amount of ingredients per potion.

It is also important to keep in mind that you may only have one potion active at a time. The spell isn't actually stored in the bucket; it simply sets the server to produce the spell effect the next time you use ANY bucket.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, proposed potion number one: A bucket of my favorite little critters, these guys. :Spider: :Spider: :Spider:

The idea is to give Nature school-ists something to strike back at the local woodcutter's with. Essentially, you make the potion, (Something like 2 Mossy, 3 cloth, 3 dirt and some other stuff), pick up the potion in your bucket, wander over to the place you want to use it, and drop the potion there.

Then a small hollow mound will rise out of the ground, with a number of spiders based on the Tier used inside. (So, 1 to 6 spiders. Any more would be ridiculous.) After a few seconds, the mound falls to bits (A few blocks get replaced with air, then a few more, etc. Yay for fancy animation!) and the spiders are free to wander about. The mound means that it's dark inside, so spiders can be spawned, though with the higher-tier spells, (and larger mound needed to contain the spiders) it may be hard to use in small areas. It would have to detect torches and low ceilings/walls nearby, to ensure that the spiders spawn, and with sufficent room. Possibly destroying, then replacing nearby torches? That would work well, but may be impossible, I dunno. A delay on the spiders digging their way out (read:The mound disappearing) would be nessecary for the Nature-Avenger to run away without getting bit.

Though it's pretty complicated, I think it would be awesome. Imagine, you've had a long hard day out in the woods, gathering logs for your baddass wooden tower, so you wander down the cobblestone path to your log hut, open the door and OHGODTHEY'REEATINGMYFACE!

(In the background, our Nature-Avenger stands behind a tree, showing off his troll-face.)

On a similar but less malignent note, a potion that summons baby slimes. Why? Who doesn't want a pet baby slime! They so cute! :3

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another idea that came up was a bucket, that... Wait for it... could make water.

    Thats right, you heard me.

However, the idea with this particular potion is that rather than simply placing a single block of water, the bucket would allow you to place several, depending on tier. Possibly a circle where radius = Tier used? I dunno. But I do know that it would speed up many different projects involving water, like creating dams or lakes, for example. Multiple uses may also be good, either as an alturnitive to increased circle size or in conjunction with it.

On the topic of liquids, corrosive acid was also an idea we tossed about. How would it work? You make the potion, dump it on the ground, and it sinks downward, destroying all non-teir blocks in its path, while leaving DELICIOUS ORES. Tier would determine the time that the acid lasts, and therefore how deep it went. The spell would have to be pretty expensive, mainly for balance.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally, we were debating what potion should be produced from all Diamonds, and up came the idea of a "Greater Ruin"-esque spell. Essentially, GIANT FREAKING LAZOR (Probably towers of glass :tongue.gif: )falls from sky, blasts hole in ground at target location. Tier would determine radius and depth of laser penetration. Should be heavily restricted, requiring maxing out of several or ALL schools, and possibly even placed by default in the disabled runes group. Useful for: Cutting continants apart from surrounding landmasses, destroying the giant penii made all over the place by the trolls, epic wars/battles. Would need to be either placed with bucket, then delay, or made a tool rune rather than a potion. Tool is probably better, since we have that neat block-tracer dohicky. :tongue.gif:

There was also a vague idea tossed around about a hell-realm portal placer, though this of course depends on the Pumpkin Patch, and how Notch is going to make the Hell Realm work. Still, a neat thought.

Anyway, thats the results of the brainstorming. Let the reasons why it won't work begin flooding in. ;D

I like the idea, but the whole thing looks too unprofessional and a bit too photoshoppy.

This is because of three reasons.

Firstly, the image was made about... seven? Eight?... years ago, when I young and innocent. :3

Secondly, I am actually quite terrible at photoshop. I prefer to draw in flash, and even then, I don't often try to make anything look professional. I just draw the way I like it. So my ineptitude plays a fair part in the issues with the image.

Finally, I made it in about 10 minutes. :tongue.gif:

If we want really awesome logos, we need someone who's actually good at this sort of thing. I just made it because I thought the text was a little more legible than on the original.
