I don't see whats stopping Notch from putting up Minecraft on steam, they let players play games in beta on Steam all the time; what's to stop Notch?
Steam doesn't distribute java games. Only native code (exe or app.) They aren't going to distribute a game that relies on the user having java installed.
That, and you can't just "put" a game on steam. Valve has to want to put it on, and be able to make money off of it.
Try downloading OpenAL and installing it. It's possible your installation is corrupt.
After installing, copy the OpenAL64.dll and OpenAL32.dll files from C:\Windows\System32 to %appdata%\.minecraft\bin\natives. I'm not sure that is strictly necessary, but it shouldn't hurt.
So explain what i press or do to take in game screens?
Hold F1 and press F2. The newly generated screenshot can be found from your minecraft settings-folder. F1 will hide the HUD and F2 will take the screenshot.
WinXP
C:\Documents and Settings\%username\Application Data\.minecraft\screenshot
Firefox is loading a webpage, which is typically only a few kilobytes, and the browser itself.
Minecraft is loading a massive world, the game rules/logic, several game and graphics libraries, and some pretty pictures and music.
You can, if you wish, limit the total amount of memory java will use by downloading the "Linux/Other" minecraft.jar file off the minecraft website and using the launch options provided. Just change the number in -Xmx1024m (note that's "Xmx," not "Xms")
The default option (1024m) will give minecraft a maximum of 1GB of ram. Beyond that, there's nothing you can do.
I didn't ask if you could get python, i asked if you had it installed.

And online is classic mode..
Online is not necessarily classic mode. SMP/Alpha is available online. Classic is the version with infinite blocks and no resources. Alpha is the one with monsters and mining.
delete %appdata%/.minecraft/bin. DELETE ONLY THE BIN FOLDER.
if you only delete that (and not the "saves" folder) your game will re-download the files and your saves will be untouched.
You can, of course, back up your saves folder if you like, but it's not necessary as long as you use common sense and don't screw with your "saves" folder.
his IP changing would not affect the world contents. If the world was erased, it means that either the server lost the save file, or the server moved to a new physical machine.
Assuming he has access to the original machine, he can copy the server's save file over to the new machine (assuming they weren't simply lost.)
I don't get how I can run advanced games but my graphics card doesn't workwith this game. It says the driver needs an update. But there are none that I can find
Most games (on Windows) use DirectX. This game uses OpenGL. If your Graphics card doesn't support the required version of OpenGL, it won't run.
What is your graphics card, and what driver Version do you have (start->run->dxdiag if you don't know)

The wires will link to each other and not the door.
Have the wire run under the wall the doors are in from each side, so they connect to the square the door sits on.

this thread has a list of steps which should fix a corrupt save. Try those and see if it works.

If they have, I have no idea what you should do.

Win XP/Vista/7: %appdata%/.minecraft/screenshot
Don't ever say the full path, 90% of people won't be able to find it, as AppData/Application data is a hidden folder.

You can get Python 2.6 over here
You can get the server running by reading the iCraft ReadMe, specifically the "Install" section.
You can also go to Their personal wiki or their forums for support, as indicated in their ReadMe, which you really should have read.

Edit: and are you aware that iCraft is for classic mode only, not Alpha?

Library > Application Support > minecraft > bin
Next time you launch the game, minecraft should re-download the game files.
If you like, you can back up minecraft > saves, however this shouldn't be necessary so long as you use your common sense and don't delete/modify it.

I don't suppose you bothered to try that?

Is minecraft running while you're doing this?
